Collars with and without the rubber gaskets make the difference
My bar came with two rubber gaskets for each side of the bar. One on the bar where the plate is pushed up onto and the other is on the collar that pushes up onto the outside plate. The commercial picture does not show these! That is where the problem is. You need them. With the collars with the gaskets, there is no problem what so ever. Maybe the company responded to the complaints or it is hit or miss. The weights are a little wobbly on the threads but only slightly which causes no problems either. As in one review, the weights could slide off without screwing them over the threads. I have no problem with that at all. I suppose you could carelessly pull the weights off over time and it could round the threads? Seems like a stretch. Even if you could the collars would hold them (with the gaskets). So again my bar is perfect in every sense. The only thing I took from one negative review, which is pretty extreme, "I had to surgically fix the cuts" or to that effect was that one collar had sleight sharpness due to sloppy clearing after chroming it. Not sure about you, but I always check everything I get for many things, and since this is a much less expensive version of similar bars I checked for this kind of sharpness. Slightly sharp place is easily solved by lightly filing it or dull it with a piece of wet dry sandpaper. Ridiculous? No. For this price and good as it is (with the rubber gaskets) I have no problems with it. A great bar in every sense of the word. It is hard to find one like this that accepts 1 inch weights. Don't hesitate to purchase but make sure you get collars with the gaskets. If not....make sure you get them or find some gaskets at the hardware store to cushion the weights in some way. Simple fix. Great bar, does tricep and bicep, shoulder excercises all on one bar
Great bar, first of all, I think these standard bars shouldn't cost more then 20 bucks, they're pretty cheaply made. But with that said, yes, it doesn't have the rubber grips, but I prefer it that way since I use gloves. Mine also doesn't have any rubber on the star collars or the weight stops, like older reviews had mentioned. But let me start first with the shipping. The apex box of course is pretty cheap, I can see how the collars can get lost as the apex box was torn on one side fully open, but mine were there. But thankfully amazon double boxes the apex box in a larger triangle box, so it was solid and nothing was lost. Now to the bar, for general upper body exercises, this bar is great. The bends in them make tricep, bicep exercises feel great, and most shoulder exercises and bent over rows as well. So it's a super bar. Plus I like it because it's not a huge Olympic size, so it's great for most normal people haha. The star collars are what it is, it's just made to be loose, so the weights don't go flying on your toes, so I hate when people complain that they don't lock in place. Finally the bar itself looks cheaply made and most bars do in this price range, I was just at a sporting goods store and they had similar bars at around the same price with the same build quality, but I prefer this one better, with the extra bends. But since these do rust, I put a thin layer of oil on the outsides where the collar and weights go, and I wipe down the handle area with a thin non slippery car wax to just put a coat so it doesn't rust too fast, and I use weight lifting gloves anyways and the bar has cross check grip on the major handle areas so it's pretty non-slip. But for 40 bucks, recommend this bar over a standard curling bar as it works like a tricep bar and a curling bar in one. Went to sport authority to get some of their rubber edged standard weights, perfect for the pre-summer workouts.

Great Bar with Exaggerated Gripping Area, But Not So Hot on the Collars
First off, this is a nice, sturdy bar (definitely not a two-piece!). I was specifically looking for a complement to my regular EZ-Curl bar, one that had a more exaggerated gripping area and this fit the bill. This allows for some better close-grip vantages, especially with my tricep work. I have no complaints about the bar itself--it is strong and can handle decent poundages, but the included fly collars come loose on every set. Every single set. I have plenty of other bars and collars at my disposal, so I experimented. My other EZ bar that also has spin collars accepts clamp locking collars. This one did not--the weights pushed them off. Tension clamps didn't work either. What worked out for me was that I found a set of fly clamps from some other bar I guess I no longer have that has gnarled "teeth" on the end rather than a flat face like these collars do. The teeth allow a "screwing" quality that keeps everything in place during the lift. I only took a star off because I was able to remedy the sub-par fly collars with my superior collars, but for someone without an alternative, the loosening will drive them nuts.

Solid and Sturdy
After breaking 2 two-piece curl bars in the past couple of years, I decided to get a solid one-piece curl bar. I'm very pleased with this product so far. Very little flex while curling 120 lbs. of plates. This bar is for standard weight plates of course. This must be an updated version because the rubber handles are gone, and now the spot where they were has that rough "etched" grip on the bar itself, which I personally favor over the rubber grips. Spin collar locks were included in box. The packaging was sturdy and intact. The cardboard was coated in a laminate, and ends were secured with strong packing tape. Not bad for under $40 (purchased from Amazon). It was delivered 5 days after I ordered it; ordered on a Thursday night, and got it the following Tuesday morning. Free Super-Saver shipping. Sweet.

Darn Near Perfect...
I had originally purchased a super curl bar from a local retailer, but from the get go, the quality was shaky and I had only gone a couple of weeks of use when the bar eventually broke in half while I was using it, literally broke in half. The next day I found this Apex Super Curl Bar on Amazon and checked the reviews. I bought it, received it, and was immediately impressed with the quality of construction, roughly 15 lbs of weight just as description said and after a solid year of use, the grippings on the bar are still in great condition with only minimal wear. I did receive all needed equipment such as the 2 screw fasteners with the package which was the only issue I was weary about when purchased according to other's experiences. All in all, this has been a joy of a product. Highly recommended product!!

Excellent Product++, but don't get spring clips for it.
Excellent Curl Bar, I use it almost every day with my workouts, great quality and build. the only thing I'm having trouble is finding some clips that could work with it. i bought this one with the CAP Barbell Standard 1-Inch Spring Clips that you can get in combo with the bar and the clips don't work, they fall off the bar.

Awesome !!
This is a solid, one piece, curl bar which is far better than the two piece bars ! Two piece bars tend to loosen up... not what you want when you're in mid-set. The bar is nicely knurled at grip points. The only real issue I've had with this bar is the spin locks coming loose and need retightening between sets. Not a huge issue because they only back-off slightly... enough to hear the iron clang. Good for both regular curls and close curls. Also, this is not an Olympic bar so it'll take standard plates (1" hole).

Its a great bar but its thinner than inch.
I have a 1 inch bar bell and my plates fit really snug on it, but the curling bar itself the diameter is abit smaller, the weights are abit loose and the clips i have dont tighten properly, but to fix that i put the regular collars on and took the rubber rings off the bars, and i have to say its pretty darn tight and im happy i suppose. Would be nicer if the bar was actually 1 inch.

Absolutely worth the money
Great quality, my bells fit perfectly on it. The spin locks are kind of loose, but it's an issue at all. I think it's worth the money.

Excelente barra a un precio increíble
Me gustó mucho que sea de una sola pieza y no ensamblable como otras marcas para tener mayor estabilidad. El precio bajó a $435 y definitivamente tuve que comprarlo.

Works well
I was slightly worried that the spin locks wouldn’t be super secure but they’ve worked well, better than my dumbbells. Weight of the bar itself is 12 pounds which isn’t mentioned in the description - which means you can load it up with a decent amount of weight. I’m at 120 pounds on it without issue.
