Korean From Zero! 1: Master the Korean Language and Hangul Writing System with Integrated Workbook and Online Course

I really enjoy this book! I had taken Korean classes in the past, but after a long break I realized I had forgotten a lot of what I had learned. Working through the exercises and reading the explanations in this book helped me remember everything much faster than I expected. The lessons are clear, easy to follow, and build on each other in a way that makes learning feel natural instead of overwhelming. I also appreciate that there are plenty of practice exercises, so you're not just reading grammar rules, you're actually using them. That made a huge difference for me. I don't think this book is enough on its own, though. I'd recommend using it alongside a dedicated vocabulary book and a grammar reference that explains concepts in more detail. Together, they make a great combination for learning Korean. Whether you're starting from scratch or, like me, trying to refresh what you've already learned, I highly recommend this book. It's well organized, engaging, and helped me regain the confidence I had lost after taking a break.

I've used three other Korean textbooks for beginners, but this is by far my favorite. I found it easier to use and more helpful than the others. I liked the large print and space to write notes, the grouping of related concepts, the clear explanations, the soft and absorbent paper (good for making notes with both pencil and pen) and exercises with answers in the back of the book. After finishing the book, I eagerly went through it a second time to refresh my learning and ordered the next book in the series. There were lots more exercises in the book that I could have done, but choose to skip over. So, there really is a lot of value here. I thought the attempts at humor were kind of lame and distracting from the purpose, but that's minor.

This text book is simply incredible. I am currently living in South Korea, so there is no excuse for me to not study the Korean language. However, it is difficult finding the time and financial resources to efficiently study Korean. Fortunately, I was introduced to this textbook by one of the authors, George. He happened to be attending a language exchange in Seoul. George is passionate, knowledgeable and experienced in teaching foreign languages, so I decided to try to use his Korean From Zero textbook. At first I used the free online pdf file, but I quickly decided to order a copy of the actual textbook since I was learning so quickly. This textbook is well organized and incredibly informative. I have previously taken a Korean language course at a South Korean university, but the course textbook gave far too much pressure to memorize vocabulary, grammar and sentences. Conversely, I have never felt any pressure to memorize vast amounts of vocabulary as I have used Korean From Zero. The main focus of each lesson is learning Korean sentence structures. Once I master new sentence structures it is much easier to learn new vocabulary words. Furthermore, the textbook itself encourages learners to go back and review content from previous lessons. I believe this is the best textbook for beginning level Korean language learners. Korean From Zero is easily accessible for anyone who wants to study Korean at their own pace. I want to take this opportunity to thank George and his fellow authors for creating this textbook, because it has given me and millions of other Korean language learners the opportunity to efficiently learn Korean without paying hundreds of dollars for classes.

I love how helpful this book is for learning Korean. You can download this book for free from the Korean From Zero website but it's best to order the physical copy, just for convenience. The grammar lessons are explained well and with the help of their website, the audio files, and their YouTube channel, learning Korean is fun and easy. I don't like the small amount of vocabulary they give you throughout the book. You would have to buy supplementary material just so you can build more to your vocabulary. I also didn't like the hangeul section of the book, simply because they said the vowels were pronounced one way, but you listen to the audo file, it's pronounced differently. I wish they were more clear about pronunciation in the book or they would write the correct pronunciation. Other than that, I would recmomend this book to anyone who wants to learn Korean.

I've been using this book, and I honestly think it's excellent. It covers a lot of content and explains everything in a way that's easy to understand, making it perfect for beginners. It has helped me a lot with learning Korean, and I can tell it's a very complete resource. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to start learning Korean from the basics. It's definitely worth it!

This was the first Korean textbook I bought for myself, and it continues to be my favorite. I originally chose it because I had bought Japanese From Zero and really liked its layout, so after buying that book, I decided to study Korean too. (Why not, it's not like my brain has enough languages and writing systems floating around in it yet!) This book spoiled me. It taught me Hangul, and it taught it to me very well. Now, about 10 months into studying Korean, I get annoyed at other books that have decided that they are going to have romanizations after *every* *single* *hangul* *word* *and* *phrase*... Ugh! The only issue I have really ever had with this book has been in the audio files department. When I downloaded them, some of the files weren't there because they were being updated, and it has been hard for me to figure out if/when they have updated the files. A minor petty thing is that I don't have the latest version with its cool cover art >_<. I did buy that one for my friend though. Completing each chapter has been fun. I use Instagram to chronicle when I've completed a chapter/started a new one. My Korean friends who help me check/go over my work sometimes think this book is really good, as well! I'm almost done with the entire book, and I'm so excited about the 2nd one coming out on the 20th! If you're looking to study Korean, I think this book is a super fantastic choice!

This is the best introduction to Korean I have ever tried. I am not your typical language learner and even had a hard time learning my native language English. I am not dumb, but I am a mathematician and think in terms of equations and axoims . Needless to say, the korean style of teaching such as used by the clear text and Korean education board that introduces new phrases and words without a deep explanation of particle use or verb changes completely failed me. I sent years trying to learn in order to speak with my in-laws. Within days I had already knew more than I learned in years of using other books, rosette stone, and spending vaction time in Korean. I am excited to crack open volume 2 and looking to my summer trip to impress my inlaws that have lost hope on me. I recommend this to anyone that does not pick up languages quickly and needs to know "why". I really hope they continue this series. As a side note I recommend buying the paper book and not downloading. First to support their amazing work but also working through the excerises with makes it a great tool. Finally. This book has answers! Many other booksi have tried do not give solutions and explanations to the exercises which is crazy. However they give you answers and sometimes even explain why so you can self correct (such a crazy idea for language learners i guess).

After buying Japanese From Zero and seeing all the awesome supplemental materials available for free online through the website, I considered buying this textbook for myself, but I decided not to because I'm already studying Chinese, Japanese, Lakota, and Arabic on my own as well as taking college courses and working weekends. However, my mom is obsessed with Korean TV shows (Running Man is her favorite) and k-pop, and she has been struggling with the Integrated Korean textbook I bought for her last Christmas. For some reason, she couldn't memorize hangul or basic words (such as numbers) using the textbook or some of the free vocabulary sheets she found on other websites. I started to teach her hangul myself with decent results, but I realized that after teaching her the alphabet, I wouldn't be able to provide her with anything further as my Korean is very broken and my pronunciation is atrocious according to multiple Korean friends. So I went ahead and bought this book. Just like Japanese From Zero, Korean From Zero is so much simpler than any other traditional textbook on the market. My mom is terrible at learning foreign languages, but even she has been improving steadily using this book. I think that once she decides to use the Korean From Zero website, she will probably get even better. KFZ's exercises and phrases/words are more interesting and useful than the ones you start out with in other texts (my mom will probably never need to know the word "dorm room" or "major" since she's not going back to college anytime soon!) and the grammar is much easier to understand, too.

O conteúdo do livro e as explicações são ótimas. Muito fácil de entender. Porém demorou para ser enviado e o livro veio somente na embalagem de papel sem nenhuma outra embalagem plástica para proteger. Veio com avarias e sinais de que foi usado, devolvido e revendido. Entrei em contato com a central de atendimento da Amazon, e o problema foi prontamente solucionado. Uma pena que um material tão bom tenha sido manuseado sem nenhum cuidado pelo vendedor.

Las explicaciones de gramática son claras y concisas, con varios apuntes de pronunciación y algo de vocabulario en cada tema. Además, me parece muy acertado que el papel sea tipo "folio" para poder escribir y subrayar sin problema. Me compraré el siguiente volumen ya que éste me ha gustado mucho. 100% recomendable.
