Excellent headphones for the price. COMFORTABLE++++++++++++++++++++++++
ABOUT MY PAST HEADPHONE EXPERIENCES: I haven't had too many quality headphones in the past, so I don't have much to compare this pair into, but these are still great headphones for me. I have had B&W P5, earlier version of Bose AE (I think it was called triport back then), and couple of Sony headphones on $100 price range. Audiophiles would probably have much negative to say about all those headphones, but I think that they all have been good consumer level headphones. I have also had over 20 pairs of different IEMs, but I don't think that they are comparable to full size headphones. However, I also have had Bose IEMs (oldest version & MIE2i), and I dislike their sound very much, so I'm not too biased to praise Bose for no reason either. I would pick Bose AE2 over any of the headphones that I have had in the past. They are super comfortable, and the sound is also very good. Sound is very subjective term, but I like the sound of Bose AE2 more than any of those headphones I had in past. Sure B&W P5 probably had more extended sound range, but their sound was somewhat fatiguing, so I couldn't listen them for too long periods of time at once. Bose Triport had more powerful bass than AE2, but they weren't as comfortable. All Sony headphones I have had, or heard, have been good also, but something in AE2 is still better for me to choose them over Sonys. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ABOUT BOSE AE2: I'm not an audiophile, more like casual listener who likes to have somewhat good sound. I use these headphones mostly for music, a little bit for casual gaming, and sometimes for couple of Youtube videos. Biggest bonus in Bose AE2 is that they are very comfortable, more comfortable than any of headphones I have ever tried on my head. They are light weight, and very easy to wear even for a full work day. Also they are easy to drive, so the sound is good always when plugged right into your devices headphone jack, there is no need for external amps or other tricks. Soundstage is pretty wide in these, which I like very much. Instrument separation might not be top notch, but still very good. Bass doesn't go strongly to subwoofer level, but it is always present and pleasant to listen to. Highs doesn't go to the highest notes either, but that also makes these easier to listen to, because at least for me strongest highs might cause headache sometimes. Midrange is excellent, and vocals are always clear while listening these headphones. They respond to EQ fairly well, so you have an ability to tune sound more to your liking. While listening to these headphones, I can assure that sound never fatigues you, and you can keep listening as long as you like. I would totally recommend these for casual headphone users, and modern music listeners. This headphones are totally worth their price tag.

Great headphones!
I bought these headphones for college after trying them out in the store. It's hard to go wrong with BOSE products, and these are no exception. The sound is really good, with my Skullcandy in-ear buds, I thought the sound quality was great, but now with these listening to the same songs I hear subtle parts of the song I didn't hear before. Very good sound quality. I am a dubstep lover, I have a subwoofer in my car and 1/4 of my itunes library is dubstep and bass heavy music. I read reviews of people complaining about how there isn't enough bass. I can see where they are coming from, however, I think you really don't lose all that much, and the trade-off is, you can head the mid and high ranges much clearer. They are NOT completely noise canceling, but when music is playing, it does isolate other noises out for the most part and muffles everything even without music playing. They are super COMFORTABLE! Amazingly so, I can wear them for an hour or two and forget that they are there. Very light, cushiony and adjustable. They do feel a little bit fragile but I think that if you're treating your $150 headphones roughly enough to break them, you probably should buy cheaper headphones. No problems with breaking at all so far however. The cord does come out of the headphones if you want it out (for whatever reason, I haven't found a good one yet.) One gripe I have about these headphones, the cable is really long. I am 5'10" and the cable is about my armspan (so probably close to 6 feet.) This doesn't sound too bad but when you wear them around the house with an iPod in your pocket, the bottom of the cable hangs between my knees and crotch which seems a bit un-needed. I feel uncomfortable walking around wearing them because I'm afraid the cable will snag on something and rip. Also, I can imagine it looks a bit ridiculous. Overall, amazing headphones and well worth the money spent on them (this from a guy who likes to buy $20 earbuds)

Surprising--especially low bass... 4 1/2 stars
My happy favorites for a long time have been in-the-ear-type headphones. Started off with Shure e2c then e5, then Etymotic ER6i, finally ER4P which is king of the road to my ears. Though really nice sounding, have always had to fight to fit them exactly right in the ears for decent response especially bass (the "good air seal" thing). Used various ear cushions, moisteners, tugged & pushed them way in (often irritating ears), etc, with good results only sometimes. If you have to take them out (to hear somebody talking), same hassle to get them back in. So by chance tried listening to the Bose enclosed-around-the-ear AE2 at an electronics store. At their price point and weight & size, was quite surprised by the "demo music" and the comfortable wearing (and no fitting hassles!), enough to give them a buy try. At home, continued to be impressed, especially by the bass... I know some Amazon reviews stating the bass is fairly unremarkable in these headphones (won't blow you away). However, came across a professional review which said the low-end equalization on the AE2 has been "sculpted" by Bose (had to look that word up), that the listening curve is boosted at the very low end (50hz and below), and weaker in the medium-low range (80-125hz). Have pretty much confirmed this--super low bass is definitely there with a vengeance IF it exists in the material you are listening to (big "IF"). Moderate lows won't rattle your brains like some headphones. But the super lows will. If you want to hear for yourself, put on the AE2's with some music with extensive low-end organ, bass guitar, string bass or tuba, or thunder effects. Better yet, run such a soundtrack thru a graphic equalizer (e.g., Windows Media Player's equalizer) with a 3db boost in the 31 and 62hz bands. Then for comparison, reduce 31hz and 62hz and boost the 125hz slider, and see if the AE2's don't sound more like those garden-variety boomers out there. To some extent am sure this is personal-taste. A variety of listeners undoubtedly are satisfied with and thoroughly enjoy boomy moderate bass. But for those who can perceive harmonics (the dynamics of the sound, especially at low and high ends of the spectrum), will probably more appreciate these phones. Being a deep bass fan, the AE2 is literally "music to my ears," and the bass a solid 5 out of 5 in my book. The mid-range and highs also are noteworthy (about a 4.5 and 4 out of 5), just not quite as standout as the low end. The only headset in my experiences that clearly beat the AE2's mid & treble is the in-the-ear ER4P, so silky smooth along with a striking realism across the mid-high spectrum which is tough to match. That said, the AE2's mid and high end are also very listenable, have nice presence, are "crisp" as others have mentioned, and very well balance the lows (and super lows). Deep bass is helped by good low resonance in the AE2, but I think also by a slight de-emphasis of the rest of the spectrum, resulting in a slightly higher power requirement for the same loudness as other headphones. My Samsung Fascinate smartphone produces just enough audio power to drive the AE2, and Windows 7 audio on the typical laptop seems to too, so probably no biggie for most listeners. Another point is the "sound isolation". The AE2's enclosed-around-the-ear design is better than on-the-ear or against-the-ear at isolating noise, but doesn't hold a candle to the in-the-ear varieties. Properly fit, my in-the-ear ER4P can get as high as 30-40db external noise isolation (which is REALLY quiet, great in airplanes!). Since Bose publishes absolutely no technical specs on the AE2, would estimate that they do maybe 12-15db isolation--ok for a quiet office or home environment, but not enough to filter out airplane noise. (Don't even talk to me about electronic noise cancelling-- there are much better, cheaper, more natural ways to exclude external noise). All around, Bose AE2 is a really comfortable, nice-sounding headset for casual use, and fairly portable for trips (but I don't think isolating enough for flying). They really step up to the plate on bass if you appreciate LOW bass, and aren't bad in the rest of the spectrum, best of all instant great sound without any fiddling! (Note: if you have big ears, may not fit.) Recommend. **Edit** Have found the AE2 SO excellent at the low end that they pick up "rumble" on some analog recordings, e.g., oldies from the '70's and earlier made with less sophisticated equipment. This can be annoying in some situations. Bottom line to get rid of it is to reduce the lows with a bass control or equalizer. This unintended consequence actually underscores how sensitive the low end really is on these headphones. **Edit2** Found a "bargain" Bose headphone set at a local warehouse club that look very much like the AE2 but have smaller earcups that rest ON the ears, not enclosing around the ears (they don't have the AE2 model# showing). They're quite a bit cheaper, but caution--not the same as the AE2.

Bose AE2 Headphones
Bose AE2 Headphones Lacking Bass On My Computer But Has Outstanding Bass On My Iphone. First I Plugged The AE2 Headphones Into My Computer To Try Them Out & Thought They Actually Sounded Pretty Good. After Awhile Of Listening To Them On The Computer I Decided To Try Them Out On My Iphone & Bam What A Huge Difference In Sound Quality. Everything Sounds So Much Better Listening On My Iphone. While Wearing Them While I Listen To My Iphone It Seemed Like There Was Someone Actually In My Head Talking To Me, Pretty Awesome Stuff. I Also Noticed A Really Big Difference Between Listening On My Computer & On My Iphone. The Bass Really Kicked My Head In & Sounded Like A Very Full True Bass Would Sound Like Almost Concert Like . I Tried The Sony V55 Headphones Which Has Killer Bass But Was Uncomfortable To Wear After Several Hours, So I Decided To Return Those & Give The Bose A Try. I'm Happy I Tried Out The Bose AE2'S Because They Actually Sound Great With Lots Of Bass With My Iphone Were I Listen To Most Of My Music Anyways & Are Incredibly Comfortable For Long Hours Of Wearing Enjoyment. By The Way I Tried On All The Headphones On While I Was At Best Buy I Found That The Sony V55 & Bose AE2 Headphones Sounded The Best Out Of All Of Them. I Purchased The Sony V55 Headphones Because They Price Matched Them For $50.00 Out The Door But After Wearing Them For Hours & Hours Over The Weekend They Felt Very Uncomfortable & Really Hurt My Ears. So I Returned Them. With The Bose AE2'S Your Ears Actually Fit Inside The Earcups & Are So Lightweight They Are Superior To All The Rest In My Opinion. These Are State Of The Art For a Reason With The Bose Signature Sound. An Amazing Headphone
Before writing this review, let me just point out that I am not super picky when it comes to sound quality so this review will not help you if you are looking for how good the sound quality is specifically. All I can tell you is that the sound is great and perfect to my level of liking. First of all, this headphone is so light. I cannot believe how light it is so even if you wear it for hours and hours you barely feel the weight on your head. The padding/cushion around the ear is quite comfortable and I am very pleased with the feel. I am also amazed at how it blocks out the outside noise because the headphone fits nicely and around your ears (it does NOT have noise-cancelling feature but the fit around your ears organically blocks out outside noise). I wore this headphone while listening to music in a medium sound level but could not tell my friend was calling my name from outside the room. I am very pleased with the product and I think it's well worth the money. It is a far better buy than Dr. Beats or any other high-end headphones (now that I have this, I feel like they are all paying way too much money). To summarize, it's lightweight, not bulky at all, and very comfortable. Like many others have already said, the case is only a soft pouch but if you take a good care of it and make sure it doesn't smash into anything. You should not have a problem. 5 Stars.

Comfortable, but build quality could be better
Just to start off, I'm not here to bash on Bose at all. I love them. I just know that this product isn't as good as other Bose products. The headphone feels light and one may even consider call it flimsy, but the build construction is solid and earcups fold flat for easier portability. We may all wish that it folded up all the way, but good enough. Inside the earcups, it's hollow and there's a sense of... "hm something's not right." However, those thoughts disappear when you put it on your head. The cushions on the earcups and on top of the band are extremely comfortable and I've found it to be comfortable wearing it for many hours even with my glasses. Out of so many headphones I've tried, this is one of the most comfortable over the ear headphones and I'd definitely recommend for a long hours of work or even to keep your ears warm on a cold day in place of earmuffs! Sound is decent. I'm no audiophile and won't be doing any scientific tests, but I could tell you that the sound I hear is not bad, while not amazing. Because of my expectation that comes with the amazing sound I hear on Bose IE2, it doesn't quite meet it at all. That doesn't mean it's bad either however, just not as good as Bose's other products. Aside from that, it's a good set of headphones. The lightweight construction and soft paddings allow comfortable and long lasting usage, and wire only dangles from one side of the headphones so that it won't get in your way when you're eating or something. If you'd like, you can upgrade this set to a Bose AE2i by replacing the cable with a AE2 inline remote and microphone cable as easily as unplugging the original and plugging the new one back in. +1 for having that option even though that wire with remote and mic is a bit pricy. One may also wish it came with a sturdy case to protect the headphones like the ones that come with Bose QuietComfort 15. The drawstring one that comes with AE2 will protect from scratches and blemishes from physical contact, but it won't stop a heavy object possibly crushing it in a bag. In overall, if you're looking for a comfortable set of headphones that will last you a long time, go for it. But if you're more of a bass person or an audiophile, maybe not. Its comfortable paddings, long and thin cable all add up to a very lightweight and portable headphones that will be pleasant to wear. I wish they had made it a bit more premium like the Bose logo that could've been something better than printed label that may fade over time, and inside of the earcups that don't look like a high-end set. It does some noise reduction simply because it covers up both ears, but it's no QC15 or Harman Kardon's NC. I'd personally go for Bose IE2 instead since a cheaper product is able to produce better sound in my opinion, but AE2 is surely so comfortable that you need to try it on yourself to believe it. Bose AE2 headphones
Let me say that I had a hard time deciding on these Bose headphones, with the Dr. Dre headphones out there! All my friends at college have the Dr. Dre kind, and i have to admit that those sound quite good, but usually only on rap and hip hop. I listen to more classic rock, contemporary christian, and pop songs, so I didn't want to lay down the money for Dr. Dre. These are great headphones for the price. I paid $160 for them, and I don't regret a penny of it. I've flown in airplanes with them on, and they hush noise pretty well, not as good as noise cancelling but still pretty good. If you want complete inner ear silence, I would recommend the QC 15s. My friend has some and they do indeed cancel out background ambient noise. But if you're looking for something more affordable, buy these! They are classic Bose in that they are SO comfortable, I could keep them on my ears all day. The bass is quite impressive, and the overall sound is stunning. I'm hearing things I didn't use to hear on songs. The only drawback has nothing to do with the headphones, but the lousy case it comes with. It's a string pulled nylon bag that offers zilch protection! I would have appreciated a case a bit more sturdy, but oh well. I guess if you're traveling this is where it would matter most. Bottom line, great headphones, wonderful sound quality, and alright for plane rides and other background noises. I can't hear people when they talk to me when I have them on, other things like a piano or violin I can hear in the background. But turn it up far enough, and you won't hear anything except the music!

Superb comfort and a GOOD value
These headphones distinguish themselves with class-leading comfort. They are light, comfortable, and portable to the point that I can wear them all day. My two sons, aged 10 and 9, complain about the comfort of all my other headphones and would argue over who gets to wear these, so I bought a second pair. Build quality seems robust, and the detachable cord is a real plus. Extra cords are offered by Bose for cheap. They (passively) isolate well with very little sound leakage. The knock on Bose is mainly that they are overpriced. For the current $80, I think these are a very GOOD value. I think I paid $150 for them, and that was more marginal value-wise. I previously rated them 3 stars but had to increase to 5 stars after this price drop. The other common knock on Bose is that they are overly bassy. That certainly isn't the case with these. If anything, the highs are a bit brash, and there are some dips in mids which aren't necessarily bad (overall the sound is very pleasing), but no one would call these "neutral" headphones. For a nearly as comfortable set of closed headphones that sound better to me, I highly recommend the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro. They cost significantly more (currently ~$200) but offer much more transparency, detail, bass extension, and are less fatiguing. The DT770 are huge though - not what I want to be seen wearing when out and about. For a less comfortable but better sounding (more neutral, more capable bass, less fatiguing) and more stylish set of headphones while out and about, the V-MODA M-80s get my highest recommendation. They currently sell for about $150.

Comfortable, light, good quality and very accurate sound
I'm really delighted with these headphones. They look smart and feel light and comfortable to wear. The ear pads are pleasing to the touch and effective whilst the inside padding on the headband is more robust yet also comfortable. There is plenty of adjustment on each side for head size. They come with a strong, black fabric protective bag to carry them in. With regard to the sound, they feel very nicely balanced to my ear. A bright and clear treble but not at all harsh, a precise bass presence with no boom and a very fine stereo spread. I've not found them at all tiring on the ear when using them over long periods. I've listened to a complete cross section of classical and popular music on these headphones and I've yet to find a piece that they could not handle well. In fact I would go so far to say that they have picked out detail in the music that I've previously missed - and I have had some high quality headphones in the past. Things to consider: The inside of the ear cup pads measure just under 6.5cm in height and 4.5cm in width and there is about 0.5cm of additional 'give' in them. They are a really good size to surround my ears which are quite small but it struck me that they might be a bit tight if you have large ears and want them to be surrounded by the pads - you might want to check that. The lead is 67cm long and on the lightweight side so it's unobtrusive which is a good thing, but it could also possibly be easy to damage. The good news is that it is detachable and Bose sell a replacement for £5.95, which is very helpful as the leads have failed on all of my previous headphones at some point. They get five stars from me and I would say that you can buy them with confidence that you will really enjoy them too.
