Sylvan Universal Sight Push Tool PURSHER for Handguns Pistols Front OR Rear 1911, Glock, ETC... (All Blocks Included)

I bought this product thinking it would be another flimsy one-off piece of junk I could slide all my sights on with and toss or sell. I am happy to report that I am never getting rid of this thing. It was able to push the sights onto 2 Glocks, a Jericho941F, a HKVP9, and a M&P 2.0. This was easy to accomplish because of all the "vice" blocks they give you. The glock disassembly tool and the front sight wrench are perfectly functional. Those are worth like 25$ on their own from Glock but you get them as a free add-on here. The vice blocks do have a little movement when you are tightening them up because of how they are set up to be interchangeable but it wasn't a big deal. The only thing that could possibly make this thing more worth your while is if they included a wrench to turn the pusher-screw, but if you have one already you are all set. The case is also a pretty nice addition since I am so prone to just throwing everything in toolboxes and loosing it. All in all, this is absolutely worth the cash if you are looking to install your own sights.

I wanted to change out my Springfield XD sights to an aftermarket set. Springfield sights are the dovetail slide type (similar to Glock, I believe). Anyway, I originally purchased a different pusher tool on Amazon that a couple Youtube vids recommended. It had a pretty gold anodized aluminum body. Really snazzy looking thing with all sorts of hash marks and measurements on it that, I am sure, might be useful at some point. However, the blasted thing couldn't budge the OEM sights off of my XD 9mm. The pusher block didn't have a "finger" that was narrow enough to reach down into the dovetail groove on the slide, so any force applied to try to push the OE sight out of the groove wound up making the sight try to torque up out of the groove, basically locking it in tighter. In addition, the tool wasn't able to secure the slide very well as it could only grab the bottom portion of my SD's stepped slide profile. As such, the slide itself wanted to rotate within the tool as pressure was put on the sight. I tried all the extra tricks to help break this sight loose (penetrating oil sitting overnight, freezer). Nothing helped. This tool (or at least this tool with me using it) couldn't get the job done. It became pretty clear that my best shot at getting this type of sight out is a tool that can apply the force to the part of the sight that is down in the groove of the slide, and do a better job holding a step profile slide. So, back I went to do more homework to find a pusher tool with the appropriate design. This SA tool is where I landed. Compared to the other tool, setup is a bit more tedious, but the manufacturer included all the various blocks needed for different manufacturers/styles (including my Springfield XD9 to get the slide in position and hold it there without any twisting during the process. Long story short, this tool was able to get the job done when a higher priced tool simply couldn't deliver. Would highly recommend.

Purchased some new Triji sights for Son's Glk on Christmas. Figured this sight pusher is perfect to smith his and keep around for other models down the road. There are videos out there showing the unit in action and do recommend watching them first. The instructions are fine but the video adds another layer of understanding. I should have placed this in a vice like I saw in videos but did not out of our impatient nature on Christmas day. I also should have used a business card instead of the included felt stick tape. Even still, we were able to successfully change out the sights. Notice in the pics we had to change out the pusher to the offset version to allow better gripping on the slide. The standard pusher was fine for removing the stock sight (expect some damage to plastic sight) but the force needed for the Triji required more surface area to grip. Take your time and really set the pusher in the right place. I went without the spacer at the bottom as things just would not line up right. Free floating the slide helped set the pusher just right. Once set, turn real slow and steady -so slow sometimes that it's hard to tell if it's moving. Long as you can turn the wrench without too much force, the sight is moving. Far as the front sight, that was simple with the included tool. Do note, there was some seize glue on the original front sight so you'll want to have some ready for the new sight, otherwise the sight can turn on it's post. Packaging is mediocre with pieces just randomly under other pieces but I can live with that for the price. The setup did the job - even out in the field while sighting in the new sights.

With everything you read online I was kind of dreading this project. Now I'm pleased to report that with the help of this tool it took me about twenty minutes to take the old sights off and install the new ones. I personally didn't do anything special to protect the slide. Mine has a satin stainless finish and I found that the metal of the blocks was too soft to hurt it (within reason, I mean I wasn't really trying to hurt it). I started off with a piece of stiff canvas but found that the slide could move too much if I didn't do it metal to metal. I also didn't use any penetrating oil or freeze anything. I'm confident that an average person can use this tool successfully with XD models. No issues at all getting the original sights off. Line it up, tighten it down and crank away. Lots of folks say that the sights slide in and out either way, but I noticed the front sight had rounded corners on one end like that was the end they started feeding and pushed both sights out in the opposite direction (right to left from the rear). The only issue I did have was when I went to install the front sight of the Firesights I was replacing the stock sights with. The front post is very tall; too tall to fit under the bolt used to apply force while the tooth was pushing in the dovetail. Ultimately I used a crazy angle so that the pushing tooth was contacting the side of the sight post as close to the bottom as I could get it from the front of the slide. I took it slow and said a prayer to the gods of DIY and she went together ok. I did have to file material off the bottom of the dovetail on the new rear sight, but the front sight fit like it was made to go there, pressing in tight but not too tight to press. I ended up scratching the front post trying to use pliers after I found that my fancy pusher tool wouldn't fit, but before I tried my new approach. Nothing I did with this tool did any damage. There are no marks on either of the stock sights or the new rear one. I touched up the scratches up front with a sharpie and now she's fit as a fiddle. She's not meant to be a Sunday gun anyway, and if she looked too good I'd be afraid to shoot her! Now I just have to find a holster that can handle this absurdly tall front post sight.

I just used this tool to install Trigicon night sights (front and rear) on my Bersa Thunder 9 UC Pro. No instructions came with the tool but there are plenty of videos online that will guide you. I used a vise to hold the tool in place during the process and I think it would be more difficult without one. This tool comes with a full assortment of blocks that should enable it to work on almost any pistol, but for my Bersa I only needed to use the standard blocks. Taking my time, I was able to remove the old sights and install the new night sights in less than an hour and without any difficulties. I will be taking the tool to the range with me to make any minor adjustments while sighting in. The bolt to move the pusher is 14mm and the one to change the fixed block is 11mm. It is important to protect your slide where it makes contact with the blocks (I used a thin piece of cardboard) and it might be a good idea to protect the sights where they make contact with the pusher, although I didn't do so and had no scratches on the sights. It is also extremely important that you don't crank down the blocks too tightly against the slide to avoid any possibility of damaging it. The most important thing is to be patient and take your time during the removal and installation process. Make sure everything is lined up properly and keep checking along the way. Failure to do so could definitely lead to damaging the sights or the slide itself, so use caution. This tool worked perfectly for me and swapping out the sights was much easier than expected. I highly recommend it if you plan on doing your own sight changes or drift adjustments.

First, I liked the price point and the included carry case. Everything inside is protected but the foam seems cheap and I don't expect it to hold up with much use. The parts and pieces tend to disappear down into the foam leaving only a cut-out for me to dig into trying to find the tools and pieces at the bottom. It took a bit of figuring out for my application (not the tools fault) because I am using 5xl (Ameriglo) tall suppressor sights with my Vortex red dot on my aftermarket Glock 17 slide. I had to position the rear iron sight past the cross adjusting bolt otherwise the sight would hit the bolt threads. Shouldn't be an issue on shorter sights though. It would have been nice if the tool was designed with a T-handle on the pusher bolt like what is found on a bench vice and a stamped wrench for removing the lock nut for changing out the pusher blocks. If designed that way, I would only need to grab the case. As it is now I need to remember to bring two additional wrenches if I need to use this at the range. The front sight nut socket is a nice addition, but it also needs an additional 1/4" socket, 1/4" wrench, or 1/4" nut driver to be useable. A simple 1/4" nut driver with a handle like found on Ebay for $1.00 would have been a better option. The Glock disassembly tool was a nice touch but not at all needed to remove or install sights on a Glock. I did not bother using the protective hook and loop padding and just placed several layers of blue painters tape on my sights to protect them from scratches. Once set up, the tool was very easy to use and effortlessly slid the sights into place. The most difficult part was making sure the sight was centered in the dovetail. I went a little far at first but used an aluminum straight edge and a pair of inexpensive calipers to measure the sights placement. Moving the sight the opposite direction was as easy as turning the tool around. Being that this is a universal tool, it came with more adapters and parts than I will use, which is a good thing. There may be better and more expensive options for a production shop but for the average firearm hobbyist this will pay for itself with just a couple of uses. I don't think I will ever need another sight tool so overall I would say this is a great buy.

Wow! After weeks of watching YouTube reviews on sight removal, studying countless written reviews on Google and contacting local gunsmithing services, I "pulled the trigger" and ordered this Sylvan Sight tool. I just purchased a Springfield XDS 45 that needed a rear night sight. There are numerous horror stories on the net about removing sights from XD's. So much so that I almost forgot the whole idea of changing it. However, I decided to take a chance and do it myself. Most gunsmiths in my area would either not do an XD, or charged an amount more than the cost of this tool and still NO GUARANTEE that they would not mar the new sight or the slide. From that point it was an easy decision. This tool is stout, beefy, and comes with just about everything you need. I used strips of leather to wrap around the slide to protect it from the slide blocks. I practiced lining up the slide with the sight pusher and positioning it so it would not touch the dovetail notch or the slide. After several dry runs, and with ample time without constraints, I started turning the bolt to start the process. Once I encountered significant pressure I just trusted the tool to perform... And it did flawlessly! To be clear, I paused often, realigned when necessary, and moved literally threads at a time. No nicks, no scratches. The new night sight went back in snugly but not with as much force. This tool was awesome, and adding something to protect the slide finish when clamped in the blocks is the only addition that I feel is needed. I did use a small sliver of painters tape to protect the face of both the original sight and the new night sight. No marks there either. I will not quit my day job (just yet), but the quality of this Sylvan Sight tool made this job a pleasure to do, and very satisfying that I could do it myself.

so i wanted to take sights of a 1911 and thought i would get a sight pusher instead of banging it off. the original sight was good and it was adjustable and fiber optic front. but when hunting as the dusk approaches the fiber optic is hard to see, as well as sights in general. didn't want night sights because not as good during the day. tru glow was what i had to go with. the fiber optic larger than regular fiber optic which i didn't like. but back to sight pusher tool. the kit comes in nice padded case with several different blocks and tools to fit hand guns. it was tedious to adjust everything and to make sure pushing from left to right. the 1911 is narrower than the spacers to raise slide height up, they are square, but needs narrower on one side to fit small guns, will do fine on glocks, etc. would be nice to have screw adjustments to raise or lower the sight pushing part because there is a fine line at where it needs to be, but for the price, well made. i wanted the steel frame and the unit and parts in the kit became heavier than i thought i would be. the pushing of the sight went well, but needed readjusted a couple times to make sure it was pushing correctly. you can feel when the sight begins to move. so if you don't mind taking your time, it works well. if you are a "give me a bigger hammer" type person, will seem slow. That is what i am, but when i just wanted to move it a little more after shooting the gun, i used this sight pusher, overall seems to be good value for the money.

Worked excellent for adjusting the rear sight on my Sig Sauer P320, never had any issues.
