It works great on the iPod Touch! I recommend this! Review: Doesn't show any improvement from the standard mic on the iphone. - I needed a microphone to assist in recording meetings to later capture thorough notes. I purchased 2, this one and the more expensive Eituge (spelling?) and tested both. The Eituge works great, this one did not improve the sound at all compared to the standard phone mic, disappointing. But if it would have worked that would have been a inexpensive great find.

Worthless, but so worthless it's not worth sending back.
As has been observed, some of them don't work. Mine seems to be one of them. Very annoying. I did a quick memo with the mic, and one without. They sound identical. So now I have a small, bullet-shaped piece of plastic for my collection.

if you have a build-in mic, then you don't need this
I wanted to try what affect it would have on my i-Touch which already has a build-in mic. It was cheap enough to experiment with. The Pros: The mic works for all i-touch Generation (including the newest Gen. 4) Even though there was no difference in Volume, nor clarity, the mic gave a slight better sounding lower voice quality, (not as tiny sounding as the build-in mike). Nice size, much smaller than I imagined. The cons: An extra toy to plug-in, perhaps loose or misplace, and must be unplugged for playback. It did not aid in distance to pick-up voice. In final: There is no imperative improvements if you already have a build-in mic. But the product is cheap enough to have it laying around in case of need. It will fit any 3.5mm female connector which means it can be used on any product which has recording capabilities, including your computer, old voice recorders, telephone, anything that accepts a 3.5 mm (3.5mm is standard except for some headsets & recording devices which require 2.5 mm)

HQ mic, as advertised
This is a good quality microphone, to my surprise, since it's so inexpensive. There are some compatibility issues with the apple iPod touch, however these problems are, as usual, on Apple's end. As long as you don't buy one of these and intend to use it as a speaking apparatus for a phone application on your iDevice, this is a great product. It actually works well for voice memos, talk-to-type applications, etc. Overall, it's like 3-4 dollars; give it a try.

Great Sound For the Price. Surprisingly Good Quality
I was a little worried about these when I read a review of one falling apart, but it was a pretty good risk reward at around $2. I ordered 2 of them and they both work. The construction seems pretty solid so far. I use them with my iPhone 3G. The sound is much better than the built in microphone. The recording level is much higher than the built in microphone. For that reason the built in microphone is almost useless to record things like meetings or classes. With these however, you can hear everything in a room. These microphones give much cleaner sound for dictation as well; for use in Dragon Naturally Speaking. I like the fact that it has a keychain loop so I can carry it around everywhere and only use it when I need it. I use the Happy Talk or HT iPhone App for recording dictations, because it gives you a choice of 3 different recording levels. Level one is about the same as the built in memo app. Levels 2 and 3 are higher for quieter or more distant sounds.

AWESOME! A mic for the iPod Touch 3G!!!
Ordered this for the iPod Touch 3G to use with apps like Talking Tom, and it works perfectly!!! We don't even have to unplug it to hear the sound! This gives us a mic AND also allows us to hear the sound coming from the internal speaker! Couldn't ask for more from this! Just hope we don't lose it since it's so small. By the way, we also ordered the "CHILL PILL RAPCAP, BLACK - 0971-RCBK" from Amazon, and these were both the EXACT SAME DEVICE they sent! I mean identical. So just order whichever is cheaper, they are the same... tested both and they both work the same as well.

Weak reception
It might be OK for speaking directly into it, but for picking up sounds or voices that are any distance away, it is quite weak. Still, for less than $3 (including shipping) it's a cheap way to get some capability to add a mic to an iPod Touch (2nd Gen). I ended up buying a mityMic which is quite good, but it's also about $35. So, I guess you get what you pay for.
