Learn To Brew 1E-N8CZ-3KZ5 Plastic Funnel with Strainer 8"

Love everything about it, I make herbal medicine for myself and family and this strainer is PERFECT for separating the herbs from the extracting liquid. I love the generous size and the ease of straining, clean up is a breeze (much easier than cheese cloth).

I use this primarily to strain batches of kefir, which must be strained with plastic or cloth, not metal. It has worked great, with a sieve mesh size that effectively strains the liquid from solids without being too slow. The removable filter is excellent for clean up, but beware: it doesn't always stay perfectly seated, so if you are too rough with the funnel while filtering, it can pop out of place and let both liquid and solid fall through. This is easily avoided with careful handling, but I would like to see that aspect improved.

I used this funnel for transferring my homebrew wort to a 5 gallon carboy. It worked well except the filter in the funnel constantly got clogged with sediment during the transfer. This is good and bad. It did very well in keeping the small sediment out of the fermenter. I also used hop pellets instead of leaves. There are several ways around this. Use an fine strainer with a larger surface area to prefilter out sediment or use a hop bag and leaves. Overall, this is a good funnel for a new homebrewer, I only mark it down because it doesn't have a splash guard and i think the filter could be improved by moving it up further into the cone so there is a larger surface area. Good filter, good price.

I didn't realize the enourmous size of the Funnel until it arrived. It dodn't serve the original purpose that I bought it for, but it works OK for making Kombucha and straining the tea into jars. The two complaints I have are that 1. The Screen doesn't snap into the hole securely, even thought there is a tab for removing it. I have to tape it into place or whatever I am strainng dumps into the container when the screen moves. 2. The Funnel spout is way too long so I had to use a Hack saw to cut it shorter. I would have returned it, but the hassle & risk of exchanging it for one that the screens fits tightly was too risky.

Worked for what I needed it for. Durable and easy to clean for the most part.

Decent funnel for the price. Fits ok in my 5G and 6G glass carboy necks (about 2” down). But was shipped in a plain plastic bag without padding and arrived broken. Some cracking and crazing of the plastic. There was no strainer as it likely was lost during transit. This needs to be shipped in a box, not a plastic bag.Update: I was sent a replacement. And even though I pointed out the shipment problem, the funnel was shipped AGAIN in an unpadded plain plastic bag with similar holes and wear. This time the strainer was in the bag, but the hooks were bent (not snapped off). The spout is ground down slightly and damaged. So, the funnel itself seems ok, BUT the seller ships it poorly. So buyer beware! Pick another seller who packs with more care.

Easy to clean. Thickness was fine and sheerness was spot on.
