Harry Potter Film Wizardry (Revised and Expanded)

I bought this as a birthday present for my sister. She is a Harry Portter fanatic. I came across this book at the Harry Potter Store Whismical Alley, here in LA. There was a sample that you can flip through. The pictures were amazing and the details it gave about the Harry Potter books, movies were simply amazing. Long story short, my sister could not stop raving about this book, she said that it also came with the Harry potter map and other Harry Potter stuff. So from all her raving I gave it a 5 star review.

The inserts in this book alone are 100% worth the price. It comes with an acceptance letter to hogwarts, a pamphlet for Borgin and Burkes goods, potion stickers in the Advanced Potion Making pamphlet, buildable Black Pepper Imps and Sugared Butterfly Wings boxes, Quidditch World Cup pamphlet, Yule Ball invitation, Proclamation Educational Decree 29, 30, 82, and 98 papers/posters, A MARAUDER'S MAP, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes pamphlet, Ministry of Magic Identity Card for Mafalda Hopkirk, and the Film Wizardry Photo Album. Not to mention the book is packed full of photos, interviews, quotes, and other things from the movies.

Love this album!!! Essential to every Harry Potter collection. This book is a treasure chest of information, images and keepsakes from the Harry Potter universe. I only wish it contained the Wanted Posters for Sirius Black, Bellatrix Lestrange and Harry Potter. This has to be the coolest book. It is packed full of paper extras. My favorites were the Yule Ball program and Marauder's Map. It is full of movie insights and facts, and is very colorful. I am so glad I purchased the book thanks to a recommendation. I was wanting to buy the Marauder's Map from The Noble Collection, but was re-directed to this book, (there were multiple comments about it) because it was included with the paper extras. And it is definitely what I was looking for, and won't take up much room. It's really a masterpiece!

I saw one commenter mention that it wasn't a great guide for film-makers, and that is true. It doesn't give a ton of detail on each thing, but if you want it just because you like Harry Potter, then it is perfect. It provides sketches of scenes and costumes, photos, cast and crew interviews, etc. It's similar to stuff that you might find on a bonus DVD, but in paper form. (it's got a lot of extra's tucked into it, like stickers and photo books. It's not all on the pages.) Is it an in-depth look at the film that focuses on details of every aspect? No, not at all. It's made for kids to be able to enjoy and learn from. If you want to study the film, you'll have to look elsewhere (although it might be a decent jumping-off point.) But as just a fun glimpse into the world, it's great.

As an Harry Potter fan I really like this book. I LOVE the sample pull out props/artifacts throughout the book. It is not an in-depth look at the films but has a nice overview of the making of the film, props, characters and sets. It is amazing what detail and thought goes into making these books come to life in film. So many details are there that go unnoticed to your eye but once you read the book you start to watch for them and understand that level of detail that was used to make it a magical world.

Fantastic! This movie is an overview of the filming of Harry Potter and I loved it! It's colorful and beautiful, really magical. Every page is immersed in the design and world of HP. The book features most of the characters, creatures, sets, etc. and goes through the movies chronologically. I especially loved the Marauders Map, Hogwarts acceptance letter, Yule Ball program, etc. These added an awesome touch of the real thing. In case you're wondering, there is some overlap with Page to Screen (see my review here: https://www.amazon.com/review/R17H4CSCK0549/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8) but this book is much more visual. It's more exciting and fun. Worth getting both.

This book is really great. The detail of the props and the sets that Stuart Craig and all the crew that they worked on are amazing. I was especially loved the yule ball invitation, such detail that went into it. The potions book the proclamation signs, and Weasleys Wizard Wheezes catalogue are just unbelievable. I could go on and on about the other props but won't. The pictures of the wonderful out of this world sets Stuart Craig & staff created are beautiful. I could write a book about this book cause it's so great. As a Harry Potter collector this book is one of the best.

Having recently read other behind the scenes Harry Potter books (The Character Vault, The Creature Vault and Magical Places from the Films) I was unsure whether I would learn much more by picking up “Harry Potter Film Wizardry” but the positive reviews for it on Amazon persuaded me that it was worth a look. I’ll admit that I didn’t really learn anything from this book that I hadn’t already learnt from the other three Harry Potter books, but there were so many more photos in this book. Along with all the new photos were several other cool things, including prop replicas such as Harry’s Letter, a Marauders Map, a Quidditch World Cup Programme, Advanced Potion Making, and a Yule Ball menu among other things. The replicas are all brilliant, many of which I’m too scared to get out and look at properly (like the Marauders Map). The book is really nicely laid out, with many pages in the style of the Daily Prophet, or other designers notebooks. The book is mostly in chronological order, working its way through each of the films and the characters. All in all Film Wizardry is a good book and I’ve loved looking through it. Although I didn’t really learn anything different from this book as I did in the other three books mentioned, I would recommend the book to anyone who wants a good look behind the scenes in the making of all the Harry Potter films. Książka jest absolutnym must have dla każdego fana. Jest w niej zawartych mnóstwo ilustracji i ciekawostek związanych z planem filmowym, do tego sporo elementów typu pop-up. Niestety zdjęcie jest mylące- książka posiada kilka wydań różniacych się zakresem. Sprzedawane jest inne niż to na mimiaturce. Mimo zgloszenia tego faktu obsłudze- błąd nadal jest na stronie.
