Dead Can Dance's fourth album came during a prolific period for the band, being released just four years after their debut. It was also the first they made at their own studio which, according to Brendan Perry, allowed them to continue to grow in 'their own self-proclaimed direction'. Review: One of my favourite DCD albums, been unavailable for some time on vinyl. - I had a n original copy of this when it was released and just lost track of it over the years, I also own it on CD. It's one of my favourite DCD albums and perfectly encapsulates their music, amazing to think it was released in 1988, the year I left school. The music has not dated in any way. I can still remember hearing this for the first time and thinking it sounds like nothing I have ever hear before or since. This has been unavilabe for some time on vinyl. Discogs does not show any new releases, so I suspect it's from 2017 when it was last reissued on vinyl. Plays perfect from start to finish with no surface noise, pops or crackles. The packaging is very faithful to the original release with all matt jacket and printed inner sleeve. Review: Unusual, distinct sound. - Didn't know of this group until hearing the end credits piece The Host of Seraphim at the end of the film The Mist. Very distinct sound with unusual instruments, they didn't get air time back in the 80's, this track was also featured on the sound track of the film Baraka. All tracks on this album are unique and well worth a listen, well deserved 5 stars.

Intriguing gothic
Here's the thing - all the sounds, both vocal and instrumental are extremely evocative and you'll never have heard anything like like it. But... What Gerrard sings is not another language and there is no meaning in her words, just emotion. If you can live with that, then it is simply awesome. But for me, it detracts a star. I would listen to Opium from their recent album on repeat - and have done on a recent flight - as it is far more rewarding due to the marriage of insightful lyrics and mood. But there is a whole lot of mood on display here and it really should be bought and tasted. I can't gee enough of Host of the Seraphim. This track is worth the price of the CD alone. I'd encourage you to try.

Classic Dead Can Dance
Well, what can I say? Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry are among the best voices around. Brilliant album, like their others.

ecco. Qui abbiamo "le solite" atmosfere dei Dead can Dance, ma... fatte ancora meglio. Lisa Gerard ha una voce stupenda, Brendan Perry anche. Strumenti utilizzati, qui: Hurdy Gurdy, Violino, Viola, Violoncello. Come potete ben capire, oggi... non è hard rock, proprio no. Suoni delicati, sonorità coinvolgenti. Ciò che rende QUESTO CD così bello è senz'altro anche la rimasterizzazione. Questa versione del 2008 è semplicemente SPLENDIDA! UNo dei migliori album di questo gruppo, con qualità audio soprafina.

Najlepsza płyta w dyskografii Dead Can Dance (tak, bez wątpienia!) pokazująca pomysłowość i kunszt duetu w całej doskonałości. Muzyka jedyna w swoim rodzaju. I przepiękna. Jednak wznowienie tej płyty w składanym kartoniku to zwyczajne dziadostwo i brak szacunku. Niepraktycznie i bez sensu.

I love all the songs featured on this album but then again I enjoy all the songs performed by Dead Can Dance on everything they have produced. I am happy that I have finally added this to my collection.
