They are not STRONGLY scented but they are scented. It is quite obvious to me. I have seen cat litter with the same claim (unscented) which was also not true.

Are the scent free bags food safe ?

We do not recommend food storage in trash bags because the formulations have not been approved for food contact by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While the resins are approved for general household use, they are not approved for use in food contact. In addition, the manufacturing facilities for the resins and the bags do not follow the stringent requirements necessary for approval by the FDA as food contact manufacturing facilities.

Have you found these to be completely unscented---that is, with no scent at all?

There is some sort of chemical scent. Maybe that is to offset a untoward plastic "smell" from the manufacturing. Maybe it's technically unscented but not completely as you asked. The nose knows.

Product changed for the worse

These use to be excellent quality but this last purchase was disappointing. Every time I'd secure the bags, they'd split. This had never happened prior. I'm hoping it was an issue with this box, not a change in quality as I buy these bags specifically for their durability. Also, the lemon fresh scent does actually help nutralize odor.

Strong Bags, Trustworthy Brand

These trash bags are free of irritating scents, which I appreciate. I guess I don’t see the point of mixing the fragrance of gardenias with leftovers in my garbage pail. Never have a problem with Hefty bags tearing or leaking. Just a tip-quality product that doesn’t disappoint. They were a good price for the quantity provided.
