Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Playstation 3

Modern Warfare 2 is simply fun and interesting. The game prides itself on having numerous and expansive multiplayer options. Since none of the options are listed up here I shall detail a few here. (all modes collect experience points) OffLine Local Player There are 9 modes here with support for up to 4 players per PS3 system. All of the perks and even unlockables carried over from online multiplayer can be carried over here. Essentially this is an experience that all will enjoy. LAN LAN support is available too with support for up to 18 players (1 per console) All modes of online multiplayer are supported Online The experience reserved for just one player per PS3 system but up to 18 players online. There are over 14 different games types (with two types set in the third person perspective). The main thrill of MW2 is this mode and will surely keep people coming back for more. With a release date amount of players exceeding more than 250,000 players online, this mode will never be empty anytime soon. The addition and expansion of killstreaks (using additional weapons) is a great addition. Special Ops (offline (2 per console), online 2 people), an expansive co-op experience that is separate from that of the single player game. Estimated time appears to have taken me longer than the 5 or so hour single player mode. Anyway, without spoiling the story, the game is essentially as great and dramatic as the story mode and gameplay in the single player mode. Single Player: Features a campaign that appears to continue from the first Modern Warfare though I never played it and the stage has been set up well. It is a bit hard to follow at times but the action of fighting terrorist who somehow invade the USA and other places around the world is fun and a great extension on reality (fighting also takes place right in northern VA). Mechanics wise, the game features easy to learn First Person shooter controls with multiple types, there seems to be over 60+ different weapons, some with different modes, area of effect special weapons (like an airstrike missle). AI that seems to still survive after shooting them in the legs and whom will keep firing at you, tons of militia combatants, amazing graphics (bloodsplatter is a nice addition but gets annoying at times when combined with smoke grenades, the area of vision is essentially null. This game isnt the best looking game on the PS3 but it surely is in the top tier of PS3 and great graphic titles. Hans Zimmer compositions are perfect for the game and the soundtrack moving/emotional to match the atmosphere, voice actors are on par and not too over the top (McTaverish has an amazing voice actor), the cutscenes during the loading screens are amazing at capturing the mission brief, and some of the flyovers during the game are amazing at showing the scope of the devastation of modern warfare. Needless to say, if you have friends and/or looking for a game to keep you hooked to multiplayer then this is it. If you just want something for a single player experience, I would suggest renting the game since the campaign mode can essentially be beat in just an afternoon setting.

Just like its most recent predecessors, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War , the campaign portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a really fun game with extremely intense battle sequences. The downfall is that it's very very short. So let me start by saying that if you're not set up to, or you just don't intend to, play the online co-op or multiplayer modes, you really want to think twice before paying full price for this game. Single players either need to rent this or wait for an inexpensive used copy to go on sale. So you get three game options: Special Ops (online isn't necessary, but at least two players are required for some of the missions), Multiplayer (designed to be played online; this is no fun split-screen with a max of 4 players), and the single player Campaign that took me less than 6 hours to finish. In single player Campaign mode, you're a first person shooter (soldier) on the frontlines, and this time the frontlines aren't limited to overseas territories. Primarily you're playing separate, interlacing missions all over the world as two different characters. The story takes place several years after CoD 4 ended. And just as in CoD 4 you're with a team of characters that are truly your band of Artificial Intelligence brothers. On easier settings the AI soldiers can do practically all of the work for you on some missions; the help you might get from your team is based on the difficulty setting you've chosen. So unless you want to just glide through the game, definitely don't pick the Recruit difficulty (the other difficulty options are Regular, Hardened and Vet). I could take away a star from the overall score of this game for how short the single player mode is, but I won't....All of a sudden it's not so short when you go back and try to play on the Vet setting and spend the time looking for all of the Intel items. You arrive in single player boot camp just like in all of the previous CoDs, and you get a brief tutorial on how to maneuver around, shoot your weapons & throw grenades. After boot camp you get to choose the difficulty setting, then you're immediately strewn into various battles. (Once you've completed the game on any setting you can go back to various chapters to clean up any items or trophies missed, and at the start of each chapter you can choose to attempt on the higher difficulties.) You fight your way through some intense chapters....really intense. In fact, when you first start off, there's even a warning that you'll be in for some VERY disturbing sequences, and you have the option to tell the game to skip "offensive material". Ummm...no thanks. I think that this is the first game that I've played that offers the option to censor itself if you choose the option. The story is a bit choppy at times, but the battles are wild. The graphics are out of this world, and some of the "familiar territory" scenes will just blow you away with how much it really looks like your own back yard. The weapons are plentiful and sophisticated. You're shooting whichever modern-day weapon you happen to have picked up along your objective route. Objectives that guide you along are updated regularly as you complete each task throughout each chapter. And some of those tasks are brutal. There are frequent checkpoints (I think I remember even reaching new checkpoints without firing a single shot) in the campaign, so no need to worry about respawning back before what seemed to take an eternity to complete. On the other hand.... ....There is the Special Ops portion of the game. I think that there are 23 different missions for you here, and you can play each one by trying to earn 1, 2 or 3 stars in each mission. Some of these are darn hard, especially the final 3-star unlocks. You will be frustrated by playing some of these a few times before you beat the levels to earn your stars. And there are no checkpoints in these missions, so if you fail in the final moments of a mission, you start over from the beginning of that mission. Special Ops is most fun with a partner. It's best online so that you get to play full screen, but if you have a guest over you can play split screen offline. For all you World at War players looking for Zombies, you're out of luck here. You get Special Ops instead. There was a silly rumor that MW2 would have an "Alien Invaders" mode that would rival the Zombie mode of WaW, but that indeed was just a silly rumor. Online Multiplayer is where you'll get addicted. No AI brothers here...just your fellow gamers. You'd better have your FPS skills honed if you think that you'll score better than some of the MW2 online players. A very high percentage of the online players have been honing their skills online for years now with CoD4 and World at War. The concept with Multiplayer is certainly not new. The more you play, the higher you rank allowing you to unlock more (fine tuned) weapons. The game sets you up in matches with people at your level and rank, but that ain't gonna help you if you're new (you will be fondly referred to as a noob by your swell fellow online players) and you're up against the CoD4 or WaW vets. What makes MW2 Multiplayer more than just a new map pack for CoD4 is that the Multiplayer weapons and perk system are vastly improved. And so is connectivity (so it seems in the initial week of play after a few day one and two glitches). You get 10 times the amount of points for the kills and captures that you're used to getting only 5 or 10 points for in CoD4 and WaW. You also now get points for not just killing and capturing, but for taking out enemy air support, coming back from deathstreaks, killing your nemesis, breaking an enemy's streak and other stuff. Yeah, Multiplayer is good fun, habitual and bad for a marriage. So all in all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is major fun. The only drawbacks to this awesome game are that the campaign is really short and the multiplayer action is a bit familiar. But the MW2 Multiplayer improvements over its predecessors far out weigh the familiarity. Modern Warfare 2 is a must for FPS fans. Add it to your cart, soldier!

I received my game from the UPS man today at 11:30 MST and after a few chores, I was able to get up and play. I popped the game in and of course I had to go through 2 updates, 1 system (3.01) and 1 game update (1.01). I wasn't sure what the updates were for, nor did I care; I just wanted to start playing the game. After the quick updates I was on my way. I beat the first Modern Warfare in about 5 or 6 hours and it was a great game with high replay value. I definitely anticipate the single player to be as great in MW2 as it was in the first MW. I immediately went into multiplayer and have been playing for about an hour and I tell you, it is fantastic. I loved everything about the multiplayer in part 1. Of course it wasn't perfect, but it was and still is the best multi-player game in my opinion... Until now... I play a lot of MP games (Team fortress 2, Counter Strike, etc) and I play those every now and then but I always went back to Modern Warfare. I still played it heavily until today. It will forever be out of my ps3 and will be replaced by its big brother MW2. I know I'm talking a lot about MW part 1 because I have spent days and days playing the MP (as many of you have) and its still not boring to me. The most annoying thing about playing MW1 was losing the match 20 seconds in because the host left the game. Lemme tell you, Infinity Ward listened because there's none of that BS anymore... kinda. When you lose the host for whatever reason, it will pick another host instead of calling the game a loss and you can continue from where you started. I LOVE THIS! it's not perfect by any means because you can still get kicked out of the match because the computer cannot find a suitable host (happened twice to me in an hour, about 10 games). Nonetheless it is a fantastic "feature" which was missing from the first game. That was the first big thing that I noticed because it happened to me in the first match and I was like "wtf" and when I put 2 and 2 together, I knew this was worth buying the game alone... it doesn't end there... Multiplayer has the same controls as the original and many many many many many things that are just a little better.Graphics seem more polished and I imagine they would be since the game is 2 years older now. The sound is superb. If you're treading through water, snow, or grass, you could hear it like you were walking through it in real life. Same thing goes with walking up and down stairs, on roofs, etc. Of course the weapons sound great but I'm not too fond of the character dialog (i.e. "cover me im reloading" "GRENAAAAADAAAAAA" etc). The best thing about the Multiplayer has to be the new perks and killstreak rewards. I only had a 5 kill streak which allowed me to launch a missile. You have a computer case that you open up and it breaks into a screen that shows the missiles view and you can control where you want it to land. Enemies show up as red squares and you obviously aim for those squares. There are many more killstreak rewards,up to 25, and that launches a nuclear bomb to kill everyone in the game. There's also the little things..... you can break most glass windows ( i don't want to say all because I didnt try every window and I don't want someone to point out that there's one that you cant break). I'm not sure if you can throw grenades through a window but I will be trying it. You have rewards for every level including unlocking different types of banners for your profile picture and of course weapon upgrades and perks for your soldier. The maps are pretty good too... Out of the 10 matches I have played the same map maybe 2 or 3 matches which isn't bad. Of course there are maps you're not going to like and I think I have 1 or 2 already. Enough about me yapping about the game. I recommend it to everyone that loves online shooters. In the past hour I told my friends to go pick it up and they obliged.. time to continue our team deathmatch dominance. This is pretty much a review so people that are hesitant or just wanting a little more information on the best aspect of the game. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to answer. P.S. I know the game has been out for a couple days in certain areas, but there are already level 70's and people in prestige mode.

This game has to be my favorite of all time! The one disappointment that most people have is that the campaign is too short, checking in at approximately 4.5-5 hours. However, in those 5 hours, the players will experience a game that pushes the limit and is quite controversial. Gamers will play with a variety of characters, including Soap, Roach, Allen, and Ramirez. As the player, you will follow the story of Task Force 141 and the Army Rangers in the events occurring 5 years after the end of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The story has an epic ending, and it does leave room for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (speculation of course, but it does have an easy opening for the next game by Infinity Ward). One reason people believe the campaign was so short was due to the inclusion of Spec Ops, a game mode which consists of independent missions similar in design to the "Mile High Club" epilogue mission from Call of Duty 4. These missions take place in a variety of locations from the campaign mode, but are not related to story of the campaign itself. Most of the Special Ops missions may be played alone, but all of them support two player cooperative play in which two players can play together locally or online. Such mode includes scenarios such as a snowmobile race between the two players, one player providing air support from an AC-130 with the other player conducting operations on the ground, capturing an enemy compound, and searching areas for and eliminating 40 or more enemies at a time. Special Ops is divided into five separate groups of missions: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Echo. Each mission may be played at three difficulty levels: regular, hardened, or veteran. Successfully completing a mission earns the players stars; there are up to three stars available for each mission: one star for completing the mission on regular difficulty, two for hardened, and three for veteran. Once enough stars are earned, more missions are unlocked. There are a total of 23 missions with their respective 69 stars available for unlock. At the end of each mission, a statistics screen displays how long the player(s) took in order to complete the level and how many kills were scored by each player, amongst other data. The online multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 2 retains the same experience points and unlockable reward system as that of Call of Duty 4, with game modes that include Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Capture The Flag. However, Modern Warfare 2 introduces several new features. Aside from new weapons, equipment, and perks that upgrade to "pro versions" after meeting utilization requirements, 15 different kill streak rewards can be unlocked and selected by the player. Overall, YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME!!!

This a great sequel. The single player mode gives you just what you should expect from a game like this. It gives you a new story, new players, new locations & new weapons. The story has characters from modern warfare 1 but this game takes place a few years after. In modern warfare 2 you fight in some of the most unexpected locations such as a Brazilian slum, Washington Dc, and a residential neighborhood in Virginia. while some complain this would be impossible in real life (which it is not) i think Infinity Ward went for the more fun instead of serious approach and for me i loved it. Now for the main reason most people buy the game....The Online They have added a new mode similar to call of duty 5's co-op called spec ops. in these 23 missions you play through some extra maps from single player, and even maps from modern warfare 1's story mode. These spec op missions can be played with a friend at home, a friend on the internet, or selected missions can be played alone, but with no more than 2 people. The online system still consists of free-for-all's death matches and other favorites from modern warfare 1 but they have also added a few more modes and changed cage match to third person cage match in which you now see your entire player. The rank system has been increased to 70 but you earn more points and earn them much faster now. Now about the kill-streaks. They still have all kill streaks from modern warfare 1 which were UAV, Harrier @k@ Air strike, and helicopter, but now they have added many extras to unlock and have also added modified versions of the original kill-streaks while still keeping the unmodified ones as well. For example, the air strike can be done as in modern warfare 1 with 3 harriers dropping bombs on a targeted area or you can have 2 harriers drop bombs on the area while the 3rd hovers over the map and kill anyone in its view. (much like the chopper) The chopper has also been modified so that you can control the gun with assisted lock-on and shoot the players on the map yourself. they have also added an AC130 from modern warfare 1 ("don't shoot the church" mission) which gives you 3 different guns to use to kill players from the sky and it will automatically deploy flares when shot at with a locked on missile. which brings me to mention that you can select to have 1 of 5 different rocket launchers (1 of them being the javelin) (UAV's can also be shot down.) On top of this they have added things like trowing knives, sentry guns, care packages which give you either more ammo or most of the time a random kill-streak (whether you have unlocked it or not) and at a whopping 25 kills in a row, you get and nuclear bomb drop, which kills everyone on the map and ends the game with you as the winner. The only thing they didn't add in this game was motor vehicles and your ability to drive or fly all vehicles. Aside from that, there is only 1 problem and that is the glitches, in which map skip votes aren't counted, you and your party member(s) may be placed in 2 different rooms, teams are unbalanced, and even though they implemented the change host feature the game usually still shuts down after a minuet anyway. There are a few more but all in all for what I heard & was expecting this is one of the 1st games that lived up to the hype for me. They have added almost everything possible in this game except tanks, Humvee, and the ability to fly the planes (as i already stated) What more could you want?

I am not a big multi-player guy. (saying that means that I have actually never played multi-player on my computer games.)So this review is on the campaign mode of the great Call Of Duty 6 - MW2. My computer spec. first of all are pretty decent which will effect the game play. Vista Ultimate, 1gb graphics card, 8gb RAM, 2.83ghz possessor and a 24" Widescreen 1920x1200 computer screen. Okay one of the biggest points that this game has in my opinion over any other is its graphics. Razor sharp and highly detailed this looks almost like a real life, real time movie. so you will need good graphics/possessor/lot of RAM and at least 1920x1080 to take advantage of this games power. This game cost $60 for a reason and in my opinion it is worth it for the amount of work put in it. Oh and get some good speakers while you are at it because the amount and quality of the sound effects is astounding. They say 80 percent of of video is audio and they were not joking here. A quick note to fellow PC users. This game is powered by STEAM. Good news is that you don't need the DVD after installation to play. Bad news is (at least for me) if you have no internet connection none of your progress will be saved. But you can still play, so if you beat the whole game it does not really matter. VERY IMPORTANT! The game will freeze at the beginning. Go to the support website and it will tell you to update your sound and video graphics cards. I did so and it still froze on opening for about 40 seconds after which it played fine. Annoying yes, but live with it. Okay that takes care of the look of the game. On to the actual campaign. Story wise it is complicated though not imposable to follow. It makes you pay attention to every detail in game play and out just to follow what is happening. Be patient because things do fit in place. After I played through the game 3 times there were something that had me confused. So I went on Wikipedia and it had a great summery on what happens. And i honestly understand everything now. But I recommend you play the game through first before running to the web for an answer. The weapons on this game are AWESOME take every gun on MW1 and tons more, make them all ten times cooler and you've got Modern Warefare 2! You can have a tactical shield that is ten times more realistic and then the Counter Strike one. You can have a shot gun under your Assault Rifle which there are a lot of different ones. You can have duel pistols and submachine guns. You get a Glock 18!!! (for all you "gun people" out there you know what I am talking about.) And there are loads and loads more! Everything is more improved basically/ From the Night Vision to the Enemy AI. I read a lot of reviews saying that the Computer bots AI was so advanced and that it was so hard to play. And I got scared that it was too hard to play. Well it is defiantly hard and you will die a lot. But it is hard in a good way. There is always a way to win, you just need to work for it. Not much else to say except this is one of the best games out there. Don't let the price scare you. Because this time you get what you pay for! . Just a quick message to all you gamers out there - this game is addicting so make sure to remember to take a few breaks and step outside. Sounds stupid I know, but you will enjoy it a lot more and it is healthy which is not a bad thing either. Enjoy

This game i got on sale and is the best ever and i cannot stop playing it. The Game- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Fortunately this game is sold on both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 so almost anyone can by this game. This game is not that expensive compared to many other games and its prices range from $45 to $55. The controls are very simple, which is good so first-time players can catch on easily. The campaign mode is the career and takes a couple of hours to beat. Campaign mode will take you through various missions that you would have to complete and some of them are very hard. The most difficult part of the missions is optional but are worth getting. Enemy intelligence, which are little laptop computers are hidden in forty-five different locations throughout the game. These extras help increase your completion on campaign mode. Online Multiplayer- Playing with friends Considered the best part of the game, online multiplayer enables to play with friends over the Internet. It is also cool because you can communicate with your friends via Bluetooth headset. Through multiplayer you can gain experience points (XP's) by having the most kills or doing the best. When you reach a certain number of experience points you level up which unlocks new weapons and accessories. All these achievements will help you be successful while you play online. Special Ops. Missions- Going for the gold There is another category in the game and that is called "Spec. Ops." This stands for Special Operations. This category included hundreds of missions that your try to complete the bets you can. As in any tournament you can get gold, silver or bronze. In the case of the missions it is rated by stars such as gold is equal to three stars and bronze is equal to one star. You can set your difficulty level on the missions and try to do your best. You get awarded and unlock new items the more missions you complete. Play this Game If you enjoyed the previous Call of Duties you will enjoy this game. It is nice to get home relax and play some video games. If you had a bad day you can blow off steam by playing this game. It is also very fun and very useful in learning about military patterns. This is the most anticipated game of the decade and is very addictive. You will undoubtedly enjoy this game.

If your are a fan of Shooting games, then MODERN WARFARE 2 is the best shooting game ever.This game might not have many too many modes but you are never gonna get tired of. It's so much fun, you are gonna want to play it over and over again. GAME MODES: SPECIAL OPS: This game mode contains over 50 different missions that are fun and full of action.This missions are based on the campaign mode. So I recommend you to do The Campaign Mode before you do the Special Ops Missions, that way you'll have more experience and know how to use the controllers properly. The best thing about this is that you can play Special ops online if you have a friend on your Playstation Network account. This Special Ops missions will be pretty difficult so I recommend you to do it with a friend. CAMPAIGN MODE: This mode provides full action-packed missions from the story "FOR THE RECORD", in here you will learn the basics of modern warfare 2, and you will live the incredible story of modern warfare 2.I recommend you do this modes before any others. MULTIPLAYER MODE:In this mode you are be able to play online, and in your own console.The online mode lets you play with other people around the globe that might have modern warfare 2.In here you earn experience points, if you earn enough by playing, winning game matches, and killing lots of people, you will unlock new awesome guns,challenges,and you can even earn enough points to be PRESTIGE player.When you play offline, you can play with 4 people.In here, you earn points just like if you were playiong online.The thing is that you have different accounts in here.You have to earn experience points by playing with another person.This mode has awesome maps, challenges, and guns. I recommend you buy this game, it's super fun, and has lots of action and graphics.
