Kong Italy - Duck Alu Alloy Black

Purchased to use in saddle hunting this year with an 8 mm tether and a 10 mm lineman belt. Easy to install and has been working great. One upgrade I would recommend would be to use a more rigid method to pull the blocking clamp open. Clamping is great on each diameter rope and no issues with either rope. Price was better than the competitors option.

I use this as a device to help capture progress while top rope solo climbing outside. Works great, and engages immediately when loaded. It performs better with thicker ropes (at least 10mm), but engages well regardless as long as you’re within the tolerances the manufacturer states. For the price it’s a great option, especially when backed up with another similar device for redundancy. This is a common device for TR soloing, but I didn’t see many mentions of that in other reviews so I thought I’d share. At the end of the day - it goes up with you, and then locks to keep you in place if you weight it or slip/fall. Pretty simple. *Please research safety and redundancy when using any device like this for climbing. Don’t assume you’re good just because you saw a video of it locking. Spend the time to learn systems and protecting yourself.*

Simple and easy to use. I like that it is small in size as use this for saddle hunting.

Used this for sale hunting and on my third season it fell apart. Not a lot of use since only used for deer season so surprised it didn't last very long. Reached out to Kong for warranty and they told me to return it to Amazon. How exactly do I do that after 3 years? Their site days lifetime warranty but I guess not. Update - Kong USA saw that I had issues with the Kong Duck and sent me a replacement so I increased my review from 1 stars to 4 stars. Still docked then a star for the thing falling apart. Thanks Kong USA

I weigh 280 pounds and have never felt unsafe using the Kong. It grips the rope better than you would think. Definitely worth the cost.

Ich hatte bereits ein RollnLock von Climbing Technology, relativ oft habe ich es auch benutzt, um einfach einen längenverstellbaren "Stand" bzw. Verbindungsmittel zu haben. Dafür ist der RollnLock aber quasi "überqualifiziert", und die Rollenfunktion bleibt ungenutzt. Jetzt nutze ich dafür den ähnlich konstruierten aber simpleren und billigeren Duck von Kong, und mein RollnLock bleibt frei als rücklaufgebremste Rolle, z. B. um Lasten zu heben. Der Duck erfüllt die ihm zugewiesene Rolle gut, auch wenn der Widerstand beim Durchziehen des Seils etwas höher ist - stört mich aber in dem Fall nicht. In meinem Setup nutze ich den Kong Duck mit einem kurzen dynamischen Seil (wenn man hat nimmt man am besten eines mit endvernähten Ösen, weil das bruchfester ist, als Knoten), das an einem Ende am Gurt eingebunden ist, am anderen Ende ist ein Karabiner oder Rohrhaken um sich irgendwo einzuhängen. Mit dem ebenfalls per Karabiner am Gurt eingehängten Duck kann man leicht die Länge verstellen. (Bitte nicht nachmachen wenn man nicht genau weiß, was man da tut...) Im Gegensatz zu etwa einem Petzl Grillon kann man hier aber natürlich kein "Seil geben", ohne das Seil vorher zu entlasten. Für meine Zwecke ist das aber meist nicht relevant, und das Duck ist wesentlich leichter und vor allem kleiner als das Grillon oder ähnliches Geräte mit einem Hebel zum Ablassen. Natürlich kann man den Duck noch für manch anderes verwenden, aber vielleicht kann jemand was mit meiner Beschreibung anfangen. Für ein möglichst flexibles Allround-Gerät, das man für alle möglichen Situationen immer am Gurt hängen haben möchte, kann ich aber eher den RollnLock empfehlen, trotz des deutlich höheren Preises.
