My hair is kind of thick, will this be a good product to hold a faux-hawk?

I have thick and lustrous hair as well. Though I don't style it in a faux-hawk, it does make it do pretty much anything you want. I'd say 'yes.'

is there any really difference between hair paste and fiber.

This product has a lighter consistency and more easily applied and washed out.
