why the shipping weight is so much ? 30lb telescope 60lb shipping ?

Hi, the base is all of wood, and the telescope is of metal, the boxes are big. That's the reason of the weight of the shipping. But they send me, the telescope very carefully. The telescope is complete. The all telescope are 2 boxes. Sorry but my english is not very well. Greetings from Guatemala.

I live in an urban area. How hard/cumbersome is is this 10" to travel with to a dark location (in a 4 door sedan)?

As an amateur astronomer I have many scopes and this one is 66 lbs and bulky for sure but it is doable. Taking it in two pieces helps and it’s the only way to really transport it safely and effectively. Bringing a friend can make this easier for sure but one person can move it. The issue is this: the bigger the scope the less you’ll use it. The more difficult the the process and time consuming the less you’ll use it. I would recommend it only if you’re driven to do it. If not, then acquire a smaller Newtonian reflector in the 5” diameter range or 4” refractor (more money for a GOOD  REFRACTOR NOT A JUNK ONE) and place it on a good altazimuth mount. You’ll see a lot and learn a lot and you won’t become discouraged. Your best scope is the one you use the most. I hope I have helped you.

The 8" Traditional Sky-Watcher comes complete. Comes in 2 boxes. One really big with OTA, 9x50 finder scope with bracket, attached 2" crayford focuser, 2" and 1.25" ep holders, 25 and 9 mm eyepieces. Second box contains complete mount, wrenches, and instruction manual. Mine had no damage whatsoever, took about an hour to build. Did have to collimate primary mirror, as expected. One thing very helpful-make two milkjug washers, same size as the Teflon center bearing, put one on each side of that bearing, will make azimuth movement way better.

Do the 2 boxes arrive simultaneously or is there a delay between the 2 boxes? And if so approximately how long have you waited?

I received only box 2 of 2: the tube and optics. I've waited 30 days and box 1 of 2 has not yet arrived. Is anybody sitting on a base that they want to send me?
