Awesome Dive Light at a great price!
I purchased this light a little over a month ago and finally was able to use it as a dive light. When I received light, it came with everything described. Packaged well and everything in working order. I like how it's comes with two rechargeable batteries, battery charger, extra O-rings, strap, and a wrist mount to hold the light. Use of the wrist mount is a nice feature and able to keep my hands free of holding the light. Note: Make sure to attach the strap, even if you are using the wrist mount. While it did not come out of the mount while jumping out of the boat, it came close. It would have been sad to lose the light. The light has a high build quality. It was knocked around a bit while on a boat, in-between dives, and did not fail to keep working perfectly. Functionality of the D550 is simple with one button to control high, low, and power on/off. The battery lasted for several dives before swapping out for the spare, after five dives. The light is plenty bright with a 8ยบ beam; perfect for looking into small areas. The D550 works fantastic for night dives too. The 1000 lumens and beam is perfect for lighting up the area without blinding your eyes. I would recommend this light as a primary or secondary light.

Great for Lobstering!
I needed a new light for my yearly mini lobster season. I decided to try this one out as it was a lot cheaper than some of the big brand torches out there. To start off with, for the money, this torch comes with everything you need to get started. It comes with 2 rechargeable batteries. 1 battery lasted me 2-1 hour dives. The torch also comes with a wrist mount strap. I played around with it once I got the light. Due to lobstering and sticking my hand under rocks and into holes, I elected to not mount this to my hand. I will probably use the mount when I go on my Caribbean dives. Along with the wrist mount, there is an included tether that you can cinch to your BCD or your wrist. They thought of everything that one could want with a torch. One of the features that I was looking for was a push button option. My other dive light is a twist. I like being able to push a button when needed. My other torch is a pain because you twist it, and then you may have to slap it to get it to light up. The Orcatorch was simple to press and was ready at a moments notice. Another feature is at the butt of the torch, there are holes to tie tethers to. I used a retractor to attach to my BC. I have one of the "Blue" lights that I use on all my lobster dives. When I turned the lights off in my house, I compared the beams. The Orca was definitely brighter and had less light bleed. During the dives, I could literally shine a light into a hole 10-15 yards away. It was nice to shine my light and see the reflection of the eyes. For the money, this was half the price of the big names and so far has lasted 4-1 hour dives. I liked it so much I recommended it to my dive buddy and he purchased one, as well!

Great Light for a Primary or Secondary!
The Orcatorch D550 package (see first picture) is that you are getting a well made bomber dive light that comes in a carrying case which includes rechargeable batteries with charger, replacement o-rings, swivel bolt snap and a hand strap. The D550 light is similar to other Orcatorch brand lights (solid construction, shrugs off abuse, easy to use) This dive light has two different modes which work great for night diving (max depth on multiple tests was 110 ft.), if it gets murky (lots of particulate) I found switching to the second mode (without the center beam) reduces any glare or light "bouncing" back. Having a dive light with different modes is an absolute must and for sub-$100 you can't beat the D550. I will add video from the night dives La Jolla Shores, San Diego PRO/CON: If I were forced to make a complaint: I would direct it towards the that the hand strap. My hands are XL and I dive in cold water using a 5mm glove (size XL aqualung). Hands naked the strap fits fine (see added pictures). However, with the 5mm glove, I cannot get the strap to close/secure. I did have some other friends try the light strap and if your gloves are 5mm M/L it will fit fine. Note that the swivel bolt snap is meant to connect to the hand strap. However, I would recommend tightening the supplied cord around your wrist (its better to have two points of contact (gear ain't cheap); so you don't see your light swim away if one point fails). As shown in Picture #1

Exceptional Performance and Value
I received my OrcaTorch D550 just in time to pack it with my dive gear and head out to the British Virgin Islands for 2 weeks diving. It was a great opportunity to see how this brand-new torch would stand up to the rigors of daily boat dives. I confess that I have had some awesome dive lights in the past, but from the moment I opened the box I was immediately impressed with the completeness of the kit, but especially with the build quality! It came in a sturdy case complete with 2 batteries, a charger, bolt snap, lanyard, a goodman style wrist mount and even includes a spare set of o-rings. The light uses triple o-rings to ensure watertight integrity. Although I did not use the wrist mount for this trip, I tried it on and was pleasantly surprised that it fit evan my large hands with no problem. The compact size of this 1000 lumen torch makes it the prefect light to carry on all dives. I snapped it onto a D-ring and it went everywhere my BCD went. Its sturdy aluminum construction had no problem dealing with getting banged around daily while switching tanks and the end of the day gear rinse. The D550โs light beam is perfect for most subjects, even in the day, to light up cracks, ledges, and exploring wrecks. The beam features a narrow 8-degree center spot and a wider 70-degree general reach. There are 2 intensity settings plus a strobe mode all controlled by an easy-to-use magnetic switch located on the end of the light where it is out of the way of accidentally getting turned on. The battery life was equally impressive. I used it extensively on the high setting for many of my dives (especially on the many BVI wrecks) and on sites like Painted Wall to make the colors absolutely pop in brilliance! Admittedly the batteries were new, but I had no problem exceeding the 2-hour advertised burn time. The batteries were also fairly quick to charge, but I really appreciate having the 2nd battery so that one is always ready to go. OrcaTorch did a great job with the D550. At less than $100, it met and exceeded all my expectations as an everyday carry dive light and as a great backup light for night diving. This torch is definitely โa keeperโ and has earned a well-deserved place in my permanent dive kit!

The Best "Bang" for Your "Buck" in a Dive Light
I just purchase my second Orca Torch D550 dive light after having my first one for well over a year. I needed a backup dive light, and considered alternatives, but decided that another Orca Torch D550 was the way to go since I have had such good luck with my first one. I have to say that this has been the most reliable, easiest to use and best value dive light I have owned in over thirty years of diving. You cannot really beat the value either. For less than a hundred bucks, you get a high-quality dive light, two batteries, a charger, a wrist strap, a stainless steel clip, a โhands freeโ flash light glove and extra O-rings. And all this comes in a nice little case to keep it all together. The light itself is more than adequate for lighting up crevasses, holes, and caves, and even lighting up something of interest to show your dive buddy in bright conditions. It has a spotlight beam, but still lights up a good size area, and it seems to have the right glow for underwater. I use the included wrist strap and the glove. I find having the light on the back of my hand makes it readily available but does not mean that I must constantly hold on to the light. One issue I did have was that the light would slip out of the glove occasionally, yet still be secured with the wrist strap, while doing a giant stride entry or a shore entry into rough surf. This was an easy fix. What I did was I attached a zip tie to the rear end of the light, secured it tight and clipped off the excess. (I included a photo for reference). I have yet to have the light slip out of the flash light glove after putting on the zip tie. I sometimes forget to charge the light before each dive and have yet to have the light die on me during a dive and I am constantly using the light during the dive. I do, however, always have the extra battery with me, fully charged, just in case I need to swap it out during a dive interval. I have had the light down to around 115 feet many times with no issues. I have not yet needed to use any of the four spare 0-rings that come with the light. The light seems to be very watertight and durable. I like that it has a push button switch on the end of the light. Unlike other lights I have used in the past with slide switches, switches on the side and twist type switches, I have not had a problem with accidentally having the light get turned on or off. This is also much easier to turn on and off with gloves on as well. I feel that this dive light is a great value and would even recommend getting an extra one if you are looking for a back-up. (One nice thing of having two identical lights is that the batteries and accessories are interchangeable). Bottom line is that I am incredibly happy with my purchase and am happy to recommend this light to others. You can not beat the value.

At this price point this is a good dive light
I am a PADI IDC Staff Instructor so I've seen my share of good and very bad lights. From my point of view this is a good entry level dive light that would give the new diver a good option for this price. This is a spot light therefore you would not be using this to take pictures or videos under water. It has a strong narrow beam that cuts through the water well. The light is build well with 3 o-rings for that extra assurance from flooding. It has 3 levels: high, low, and strobe. I didnt find low useful but high worked well. I've only used this light once and according to the packaging it should last for almost 6 continuous hours. I assume this is on the low setting. It does not have any indicator light so if you battery is getting low you would not know it using this light. Packaging is very good and this light comes with a hand/wrist strap that most people will like. I personally like to clip my lights onto a D-Ring so they already thought of people like me and included a small but appropriate snap ring. As an instructor I would use this as a backup in most cases but as a new diver I can easily see this being used as a primary light until your ready to do more serious dives at night. Biggest draw back for me is that is does not have any way to know when the battery is getting low therefore from my perspective i would not use this light as my primary during a night dive.

High quality dive light
Found this OrcaTorch D550 light when I was searching to replace my 17 years old backup lights. I wanted something small, with tail end light switch and extremely durable for my technical and cave backup lights. Ordered one to give it a test, and I am very impressed with quality, craftsmanship and overall design of this light. I am ordering another one to match, as well as another set for my daughter. The way I am using this light in technical diving gear configuration, is that it is clipped with a bolt snap to the D ring on each side of the harness and secured by two rubber retainers. This D550 light is ergonomically designed to fit in the palm of your hand and be secured by rubber retainers and not slip out of its place when stowed on the harness, it also came with stainless steel bolt snap. Switching to D550 backup light is convenient and quick, no need to remove light from harness to engage the light, and nothing can turn the light on by accident when light switch is on the tail end and has positive feedback or if you stow it in your pockets. No need to spin the light to find on/off button. You will be impressed by design, quality and package this light comes as. It has triple O-ring for protection between light head and the body. Magnetic light switch has positive feel when operating. Light is made with high quality parts, comes with dual batteries, and well selected accessories and replacement parts, check out my photo of all goodies it comes with. D550 has 3 light selections. When turning the light on, it will start with max power mode, mid power mode and when press & hold it will turn into strobe mode. This is preferred mode cycle as you would not want to use strobe each time you use the light. Light is not adjustable and has no moving parts to break or wear out, it is well balanced between wide angle and long distance beam penetration. This is much preferred in wreck and cave diving and is well balanced for underwater signaling.

I'm Impressed, A quality built flashlight
First off im impressed with how this flashlight is built. As an avid quarry and lake diver I'm always looking for quality gear to keep me safe and simply work in crazy freezing temps and the muckiest water you can think of diving in. This light fits that bill. I love how the light has not only 2 O-rings like many of my other dive lights but 3 wide robust O-rings for redundant water protection. The light has some weight to it which is nice compared to thin walled lights that are cheap. If I end up dropping this light I'm not worried that its going to break or dent. As for the switch its a super simple magnetic switch which is something I like because there is no rubber boot that will fail after a couple years from dry rot. Click once for high, twice quick for low and hold for stobe. I ran some burn test and was surprised how well the battery held up and how long it lasted. on high I got 1hr 42min of good usable light quickly fading to dim after 15min. On low 4hr 45min of good usable light fading to dim after about 45min. the run times advertised are until the light is completely dead but for usable light check out the burn time pics I have posted. The beam pattern is great for murky dives too. It has a nice tight hot spot to penetrate dirty/silty water like I see a lot in quarries but also has a nice spill for good flood light as well. I also like this because it comes as a "kit" nice hard case to keep everything together in my dive bag. Not one battery but 2(super nice for repeat dives)! The battery charger is very plain but works fine. All in all I would recommend this light and definitely buy it again. I think this is a great and reliable backup to a bigger light or as a primary all on its own.

Great torchlight. The reviews are accurate and true.
Produces good strong beam, which is the key performance requirement of any good torch. The accessories included with it are useful and appreciated. Good value for money product.
