AWESOME PRODUCT! A real problem solver
AWESOME PRODUCT! A real problem solver! I rarely, rarely leave reviews. But this product made such short work of three long-needed repairs/bulb replacements that I immediately ran to my computer after fixing my light sockets that had been useless for literally months! I replaced a canister light over my sink, one in my hallway, and one in a little cheap lamp where the bulbs had corroded into the sockets. The glass bulbs were out but the metal attachment was stuck inside. It took about 30 seconds to a minute a piece to fix. I did not use the shield because it would not fit into the canisters or lamp shade. Corroded bits of bulb do fall out so be careful and wear your glasses. Or, just don't stand under the socket! You need to use some force and it sometimes feels as though the tool is too big to fit in the socket or that it is not secure. It also feels like maybe it was a bit flimsy. But every time I pulled it out and peeked at the socket, the metal part of the bulb was farther out...and a few more turns did the trick. It was never in danger of breaking. There was no damage to the socket and the replacement bulbs worked fine! I did take care to turn off the electricity to each of the lights before using this product (I just unplugged the lamp). Anyway, I can't believe I waited so long to fix my lights. I had heard about the potato trick but really did not want to stick a potato up in my sockets and risk damaging them by leaving potato bits behind. I am glad I searched the internet and found this item! I really, really wish I had another one to give in our grab bag/gift- exchange tonight. A great little gift for EVERY household :)

GREAT
I am not one to review products very often but using this was so simple and worked perfectly that I wanted people to knew what they were buying. I saw a review that said it was no good...that must have been user error because this worked great. I am almost 65 and I was on a ladder (due to tall ceilings) removing what was left of a recessed light that blew and I can tell you it worked just as stated. I will be putting this away with my tools for future use!

Worked for me, but I can tell the small dots that hug the bulb end won't have much wear.
It worked straight away but I did notice that the small dots that hug the bulb end scare and I don't believe it'll hold up for long. For all the grief I avoided, I'd buy it again if needed.

Failed to work
Definitely did not work. Some reviewers said it does work. I don't understand why they would say that unless it all depends on how firmly the socket is bound inside the fixture. But now that I have one, the tool really doesn't have anything to bind to the socket--tiny useless smooth plastic bumps. and the way it is designed, there is a limit on the amount of pressure that can be applied to expanding the tongs of the tool--the width of the separation of the handles. Once they are squeezed shut then that is the maximum tension you can create. Mine just spun around .

Broken Light Bulb Base Removal Tool
This tool is a life saver! It is non-conductive to electricity. The base left in the socket is removed with ease. Any debris is caught by the clear plastic plate. It has worked every time for me. Ingenious.

Did work just doesn't have alot of grip
I had a vanity light bulb that broke and the filament part was a large part of glass that was hard to grip. With out fear of shattering it in your hands. The glass also pretty much filled the base as well; so the gripping part that should grip couldn't. I was able to slowly remove my light...but if I would have really screwed the blub in tight I probably would have had more problems. The inside could use some sort of rubber to grip the filament part of the light blub to really help in removal. I know that for outside lights this would probably be really hard to do. But for the bath vanity lights it did work just took a little time to get the tool to grip. I could if next time probably add a bit of hot glue to the outside to give it a bit more gripping power??

So easy!
When I found the bulb base still remaining in the light socket without the bulb, I knew there had to be a tool somewhere. I researched on Amazon and found this tool. I opened the box from Amazon, walked straight to my bathroom and unscrewed the metal bulb base with ease. Problem solved.

Did not work
It did not work. I did all it said but it just spun in the socket. This was more expensive than the previous one I got, and this did not work, either.
