I Love You, Honeybear was recorded intermittently from 2013 to 2014 in Echo Park, Los Angeles and produced with Jonathan Wilson, who I also recorded and produced 2012’s Fairly Fun with. There’s a case to be made that it sounds and acts a bit like solo-era John Lennon, Scott Walker, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, and Dory Previn, while taking more than a few cues from Woody Allen, Kurt Vonnegut, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Muhammad Ali. Blammo. It has a decidedly more soulful presence than Fear Fun, due in no small part to the fact that I am truly singing my ass off all over this motherfucker. The album is really characterized by the scope and ambition of the arrangements. Nearly every tune is augmented by something special, be it orchestral strings, a mariachi band, questionable electronic drum solos, ragtime jazz combos, soul singers, or what have you. I’m pretty sure there’s a sitar in there somewhere. Blammo. My ambition, aside from making an indulgent, soulful, and epic sound worthy of the subject matter, was to address the sensuality of fear, the terrifying force of love, the unutterable pleasures of true intimacy, and the destruction of emotional and intellectual prisons in my own voice. Blammo. This material demanded a new way of being made, and it took a lot of time before the process revealed itself. The massive, deranged shmaltz I heard in my head, and knew had to be the sound of this record, originated a few years ago while Emma and I were hallucinating in Joshua Tree; the same week I wrote the title track. I chased that sound for the entire year and half we were recording. The means by which it was achieved bore a striking resemblance to the travails, abandon and transformation of loving someone. I caught this on a 7-dollar deal from a different seller, imagining they'd mistakenly listed a CD copy (since this listing is separate from the main listing for this album, oddly). Instead, this gorgeous 2LP arrived on my doorstep minutes ago and I can't praise it enough. It's not the screwy pop-up version that I heard damaged the records. On the contrary, these gorgeous (and heavyweight!) clear records sound just incredible. They play at 45RPM (to blame, I imagine, for the odd 1-star reviews), so they sound above average. I expect no less from Sub Pop of course, who has consistently impressed me with their pressings. It also came with a hilarious little "exercises for listening" guide and a fold-out poster. Do I even have to rate the content of this album? One of my top albums for the year, and I've mostly stopped buying records. Get it get it get it. Snag a deal if you can, but just buy it! You won't be disappointed! Review: Might just be the best album released by any member of Fleet Foxes (current or former) - I listen to a lot of music. A lot. A whole lot. The Closes Person I Have To A Dad
Father John Misty serves on every spirtual level. This record has no flaw other than the ability to change a man. A change that is welcomed, a change that is needed, a change that is so profound the soul resets. The way I was moved with this album is so hard to explain, all I can say is that I felt seen and heard by a man I've never even meet. He was talking directly to me and was sharing his wisdom. Father John Misty is a teacher, and if you want to learn something about the world and yourself check out his art.

Just perfect.
I am not a big fan of his last album, but it seems that he really found his muse... then married her. Very rarely can an artist convey their story with such truth, beauty and honesty. Gorgeous in every way.

Great vinyl!
The vinyl came well packaged and plastic-wrapped so you know it's a new copy. Wasn't damaged at all and my brother loved it. Quick shipment and great product with no scratches.

I Fear The Love Of A Fun Honeybear
Unmistakably Josh Tillman - but a different iteration of the man we last heard from on Fear Fun. This time, he's parted ways with his "Canadian shaman" and has found himself rapt with the sentiment of a woman he loves. She does not detract from his ability to put tongue-in-cheek and act like it isn't there. Just as much of a detached-first-person songwriter as before; he has chosen his subjects differently this time. Vinyl notes: THIS RECORD PLAYS AT 45 RPM. (Playing it at 33-1/3 will sound slow to most of you: perhaps this is how others interact with the world but not me) I did not buy the Deluxe Edition therefore I cannot comment on warped discs. My standard black vinyl was a perfect pressing and sounds amazing.

This sounds like an exaggeration
This sounds like an exaggeration, but I promise I'm sincere when I say that I've never felt this way about an album. Or to be more precise, never before has an album made me feel so strongly. Josh Tillman's hyper-cynical character, Father John Misty, has fallen in love and doesn't know quite how he feels about it. Now it's too late to turn back, and he can only reflect on how he's gotten here.
