Works great for small spaces
This is a great little micro filter. I don't notice a lot of flow into the sponge to be honest, but i know its working. I had a disaster and a tank cracked. I ended up putting some fish and snails in a small bucket but my filter was too big for the bucket. This small bubble filter kept every one alive and happy for about a week till i could get a new tank up and running. Now Ive got two of them running along with a small pump to help move water, in my 8 gallon. They are working great! The sponge also attracts all my grazers. Snail Approved.

This is just an outstanding little filter.
This is an absolutely outstanding small filter. I purchased a 5 gallon aquarium. I will eventually purchase a male Betta fish for this aquarium. I saw a demonstration of this Filter on YouTube and found it here in my favorite shopping place. This filter comes with everything I needed for my tank. What is amazing is that it comes with a valve that allows me to control the amount of air the that the filter will get. This is important because Betta fish do not like fast moving water and so I can adjust the power to the filter to suit my new aquarium residence. I am so impressed with the filter features and that it works so well for the need of my fish. I have two other fish tanks and use sponge filters in all three and find them very efficient.

Single Sponge Filter Review - Good for starting a brackish water tank
Needed to get something to circulate beneficial bacteria and get all this algae to grow since I was looking into keeping Opae Ula shrimp. I saw a lot of people online had something similar and gave it a go, does a very good job of aerating the water and some basic filtration of larger stuff. It seemed to pull some strands of this macro algae from the other side of the tank but that was just reassurance it was working. Down the line a few months in though it seems the suction cup has trouble sticking to the sides of the tank; Not sure if that's because there's a layer of micro algae or if the suction cup isn't liking the brackish water. Either way it did a good job of establishing my tank before my shrimp came in, I probably wont leave this in since it could suck up shrimp eggs/nymphs but I'll keep it around for when I do more!

Awesome sponge filter
I purchased this sponge filter for an office aquarium anturned out to be easy to assemble and the quality of this product is very good. The noise level of the air that comes out is not loud at all. This awesome little sponge filter turned out great for the price.

End cracked open and suction cup won't hold.
It's not built well. I had to superglue the plastic casing under the sponge because it was leaking air. I imagine that it was causing the sponge to be inefficient. After gluing it, it seems to be working fine. The suction cup won't stay attached to the wall of the tank though. The size is great, but overall i don't know that I'd buy it again.

Design flaw allows air to escape seams like other reviewers stated
I'm an experienced aquarist with over 3 decades of keeping freshwater aquariums. I've been searching for a very small sponge filter, and I thought I found a great model when I purchased this. Sponge filters are simple by design, yet this one is fouled by making the one, tiny tube as two molded halves put together. At first, the filter worked great as expected, but within a month of constant air flow through the tube, a leak formed. A second stream of bubbles formed, rising near the top, which reduced the overall outflow of the filter. It may be patched with aquarium silicone, but it is very difficult to find exactly where the leak is because it could be anywhere along the seam. Silicone sealant would also produce a messy appearance. Overall, it's a great idea, but a poor manufactured design. It could be easily solved if the manufacturer made it from an injection mold resulting in one piece.

Great little sponge filter for nano tanks
Perfect for small tanks and shrimp setups—gentle filtration without blasting the water. The sponge provides a good surface area for beneficial bacteria and is easy to rinse in tank water during maintenance. Compact footprint and simple setup. Great choice for nano aquariums.

It's tiny and versatile!
Perfect for my little hospital/grow-out tank! My only gripe is that since it is so small it is worthwhile to block about 80% of the flow from the outlet pipe to create extra vacuum coming from the large filter. I noticed a lot of vacuum in the lower half of the upper tube. I used a little superglue and a piece of foam (cut to size) to block the flow and the bubbles are a little bit smaller. This results in a huge increase of suction as the water is forced to be pulled through the lower filter even more. I will definitely buy one of these again. It is so easy to hide and works perfectly for my needs!
