Craftsman 954040501 Mulch Cover 42"

We have a Craftsman T2200 tractor the mulch cover fits perfect in the side discharge hole. We used to bag our lawn clippings now we mulch our lawn clippings. Our lawn looks beautiful.

I had to "adjust" it to get it to "fit". For a mower that is compatible, it should be a very simple installation. You should be able to slide it into place and hook the two bungee straps. It didn't fit my mower deck, so I had to wedge it into place as best I could and stretch one of the bungee straps.I didn't return it because I don't see a better option available, and it does at least block the exhaust hole so that the grass is mulched.If it had fit my mower deck, this would have been an easy 5-star rating. As it is, I tried to verify the fit prior to ordering and was given the impression that it would work with my model.

For twelve years, I’ve been dragging around heavy grass bags or blowing grass all over my concrete and landscape areas. This mulch plug is the fix! Relatively easy to attach- only confusion is my particular mower deck doesn’t have the little tab above the chute to secure it a bit better. Other than that, I expect this will last a long time and works well. You’ve got to use mulching blades and best not to try to cut too fast or wide of path if grass is longer- it needs a little time to chew. I believe this should fit any 917.xxxxx tractor built by AYP (now Husqvarna).

This mulching cover will not fit a Craftsman T110, 42 inch riding mower.

This is my 4th cover. The 1st was the OEM from Sears and was the best. This is the 2nd best of the lot. If the OEM came with instructions, it would've solved some of the problems.The good. It came with instructions and most of the parts fit correctly.The bad. You note I said most parts above. There are 2 different straps to hold the cover in place. One long and one short. This came with 2 short straps and would not fit. Luckily, I still had a long one from my previous cover. Only the OEM I bought from Sears came with the correct straps. Every other one I've purchased has had only the short straps and the one size fits all cover, is too small. This one is closest to the correct size but still isn't right.Sears no longer sells the correct cover and was one of the ones I've purchased and returned.

This mulch cover works great. However, it should be noted it is designed to be used with the newer deck designs (craftsman part number 199606) and not the older decks (craftsman part number 425415). While it works on the older decks its fit is a bit wonky but it does provide adequate trapping of the grass clippings. I have preplaced the deck with a newer deck since purchasing the cover and fit is 100% perfect.
