Anyone try to reverse the process and use mechanical energy to make a light bulb light up?

I have not tried that, but a dc motor can also be used as a generator so I'm sure it will light a small light. Maybe an led? if correctly polarity is observed.

what is the rpm range of this?

I have no idea what typical RPM is, over 60 I'm sure. I gave two of them as gifts to High school students. The units do spin very nicely. RPM? Strange request, since this is typically just an educational science project for kids to help them grasp magnetic field effects by building a motor and pondering it a bit. Far more memorable than looking a pages in a textbook. I have a signal counter but it would be a project to set up to measure frequency.. and the frequency (RPM) would be very voltage dependent. Perhaps you are stuck in analysis paralysis? Just buy one and play with it!

Yes it is already wound. I helped my grandson assemble it about two years ago. It was better quality than I expected, and a good value.
