The remote is loud enough and the range is good enough or me to be alerted at the back of a full size supermarket when my car is 200 meters (yards) in front of the store which is not small! My viper remote can not be heard except in a library, my avital had low range and did not last!My main requirement was to be alerted when someone impacted or reached inside my convertible! I added a directed field disturbance sensor!There is a good, detailed but complex, installation pdf if you search the web hard enough. I had no interest in remote start or locking.This should be the first one you buy! There is an addon device that can alert your cell phone for greater range!
