Fantastic product and seller
The free information provided with this tool is worth far more than what you're spending on the tool itself. I cannot recommend this product, and more importantly, the seller, highly enough. But the tool itself is much higher quality than what I was issued in the military. Great protractor with lots of thought put into it

Best map accessories I've found
MapTools', um, tools for maps, are the best I've come across. The seller clearly puts effort into the small but important details. In the case of this simple protractor, I truly appreciate that it is sized smaller than the standard issue (to fit in pockets), is thicker more resilient material, has rounded corners (not sharp and pointy!), and is easier to read (layed out more thoughtfully).Plus it came with some really handy printed how-to guides (easier to understand than the materials I had learned from years ago), and even a declination angle based on the zip code it was shipped to (awesome!). Thank you to whatever genius is behind all of these nice details.

Quality protractor that is less likely to be stolen
This is a little tool that I oft get made fun of for using. A gunner once tossed away after dubbing it a "fancy hyperspace protractor". I keep handing this to my guys to use, and they simply wont. The upside is that it is a heavy and durable material, slightly larger than a normal protractor, but still fits in my medium size Rite In the Rain notebook cover. The markings are easy to use and better than the normal ones. The downside is that there is a small learning curve to using it, but that can also be great because it keep other people from using it and never returning it. Also, the white contrast material around the edge under the mil and deg scales is starting to rub/scratch off.

Epic Value!
I needed a protector to read USGS 1/24,000 maps. There were cheaper versions available and I had no experience with Maptools.com but I have extensive experience with paper thin plastic protractors that are cut poorly/inaccurate, bend, crack, break and scratch easily. The reviews said this company does not do cheap. The reviews were correct. Great protractor that lets me read not only 1/24,000 but 4 more scales and you get a protractor that reads degrees and mils. If that's all you got this would be a great deal but I wouldn't feel compelled to write a review. You also get a host of other material that explains how to use the protractor on various types of maps, access to a website with tutorials and a personalized declination reference card (printed on waterproof paper) based on your mailing address. All this is written and presented in a positive manner that makes you feel like these people take pride in their product and want you to enjoy the map/exploring experience with them. Highly recommend and will purchase from again without hesitation.

Above and Beyond Customer Service!!!!
Not only was this product EXACTLY what I was looking for, the seller included a custom made reference sheet for the magnetic declination and grid variance near me! They used the zip code from my order to look up the magnetic declination of my area. They then printed the sheet on Rite-in-the-rain paper! If this isnt the coolest unexpected bonus ever, they also included sample maps and instructions to make sure you know how to use your map tool! I just cant say enough. If you need a map tool, and you buy from someone else, you are truly making a major mistake! 10 STARS!!!!!!

Last Protractor that you'll ever need
This protractor is excellent for his multiple formats. With multiple degrees scales, multiple scale maps for military and civilian use. if you get this protractor you don't need to buy any other one, this has everything all built into one protractor no matter which map you use. I teach military land navigation and when the students see me. Use this protractor they want the same one. But I tell them if you use this protractor stick to it. But you got to make sure you are using the right scale. There are so many scales on this protractor you just have to verify which one you use. This protractor is very durable and it's printed with clear lines and characters. it won't break. You can fold and have without breaking. But then again it would become useless after the crease. If you buy this protractor there's never a need to buy another one as this one will last a very long time. The best feature that I like about it is that it has a white background where the degrees numbers are. So you can easily see the degrees without trying to squint. This is an excellent feature for anyone who's over forty years old. I'm not sure why the military doesn't adopt this protractor because has all the maps scales that you would ever need and it has the visibility as well as the hole in the center to put a string for the long azimuths that sometimes needed in long distance traversing. Every map kit should have one of these. This protractor is like the american express card..... don't leave home without it
