Mr. LongArm 0976 Smart Bulb Changer Kit and Pole Combo 3-to-6 Foot

I have about 10 pot lights in my kitchen, and probably a dozen more throughout my house. I also have 10' ceilings. I'm of an age where climbing up a ladder to change bulbs isn't exactly my favorite activity. I decided to give Mr. Long Arm a try after reading the reviews here. One burned out bulb -- 10 minutes later, the new bulb was in place, and there were no bulb casualties. The trick, I think, is to make sure the vacuum seal isn't compromised. The suction cup "head" has about a 1/4" "give" with the pole. When the head is "out," it exposes a tiny hole that allows air to break the vacuum seal. In the "in" position, the seal is intact, and the bulb is held tightly. I found that if I "pulled" on the pole at anytime during the screw/unscrew operation, the vacuum seal would break, and the bulb would be loose. The trick, then, is to maintain some pressure on the bulb/socket by pushing slightly until you're ready to release the bulb, then pull back slightly to open the vacuum seal. It doesn't take much pressure -- just enough to keep the suction head from moving into the "out" position. I tried this out by removing and reinstalling a couple of good bulbs, and that's how it seems to work. It might take a bit of practice to get the hang of it, but it will be well worth it. I'm gradually switching all my bulbs over to compact flourescents, and this will be a big help in allowing me to swap them out safely. No more climbing up on ladders!

Had multiple indoor floodlights that needed replaced in a large vaulted ceiling. Mr. Long Arm did the trick. Comes with 3 different sized suction cups to allow you to use the right size for the bulbs you are replacing. Works perfect.

Works perfectly on bulbs with a firm socket. Had a few bulbs where the socket was not firm in the can fixture. The suction cup didn't work well on those hard to reach fixtures. Probably need a tip that grabs the outside of the bulb instead.

This Mr. Long Arm is great for installing light bulbs. The handle is also change able to use a duster to clean spider webs and pollen from the eves of the house. This is a life saver no ladder to fall off ...

I dont know what the other idiots are talking about but the only thing this piece of crap is good for is breaking lights. I cant even get the thing to work when I'm holding it in my hands right in front of me. Much less six feet in the air. Does not hold on o anything. Horrible, I threw it in the trash it was so worthless.

Not hold led bulbs well. Cannot us it. Broke one bulb trying to use it.

Does the job very nicely. The positioning clip which secures the attachment makes this more functional than the usual screw-on setup.

I really didn't expect this prodcut to do the job and was so surprised and pleased that it was fabulous. Even on a 5 rung step ladder I was nowhere near to be able to change the bulb but with this great gadget it was easy. Loving it and can recommend.

Worked great getting the bulb down but haven't had success installing a new bulb with it
