Product description I will ship by EMS or SAL items in stock in Japan. It is approximately 7-14days on delivery date. You wholeheartedly support customers as satisfactory. Thank you for you seeing it. .com A kinder, gentler Cake? You'd never know it from listening to the opening track, a ditty with the rather unconventional title "Satan Is My Motor." But the truth is, most of Prolonging the Magic finds the Sacramento, California, quintet toning down the arch commentary of tracks such as "Rock and Roll Lifestyle" and "The Distance" from albums Motorcade of Generosity and Fashion Nugget. In its place is straight-ahead observational songwriting on "Alpha Beta Parking Lot" and "Guitar," and the naked, if still quirky, relationship commentaries "Where Would I Be?" and "Walk on By." Not to worry: The group's trademark humor is still in place on "You Turn the Screws" and "Sheep Go to Heaven," while touches of steel guitar and musical saw expand their already unusual sonic palette. As the title suggests, Cake seems capable of prolonging the magic a while longer. --Daniel Durchholz P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Review ...[N]o track goes the distance like their 1996 novelty hit "The Distance." Proceed with caution, unless your quirk quotient has been magically prolonged. -- Entertainment Weekly See more

Lots of funky Cake
I bought it just because there is so little Cake on vinyl. Turns out IMHO it may be Cakes best album. I’m partial to Motorcade, but I had forgot that Prolonging is so consistently good.

Great record, another mediocre pressing.
Love this album and the band. This vinyl pressing, like many modern pressings, has some issues. Noisy, center hole slightly off, not great. Still love to have this on vinyl, just not the quality you would expect.

So this is what you'll do.......
...you're going to see all these reviews and they look pretty good. You decide "I really like Cake so I'll get it". The box comes in the mail right as you're running out the door because you're almost always almost late but you rip it open anyway. You tear it open crooked because you're too lazy to go through the whole process of getting scissors. Once you open the CD you may think "I'm so glad CDs are easier to open now." You'll remember when your crazy Stepfather tried to open a tape case with a giant kitchen knife one Christmas and you're glad you don't have to see him anymore. "Wow this is amazing music. Every single song. It's as good or better than their other CD's" is what will occur to you when you play it. You'll probably wish you had a better vocabulary so you could tell other people why to buy the CD because it's so amazing and amazing is a common word. You'll wish you had a voice like John McCrea even if you're a girl because it's just that good and who cares what other people think. And then you'll say to yourself "Who else makes music like?? Songs that use trumpets, a mandolin and all of these other instruments I don't know because I'm not a musician. Nobody does." So that's what you might do and it will be one of the best five dollars you'd spent. Maybe ever. Then you'd wish Cake would tour because you'd be so excited to see them and imagine what that sound would be like in person. You may also remember the other concerts you went to. They're great memories but seeing Cake on tour would have to be one of the best. So that's what you should do and then you'll be very happy and play the CD over and over again. You may also write a kooky review like this because you don't want to sound like everybody else. Anywho, I really like it.

2023 Vinyl Isn't Great, But Better Than Nothing
I've been looking for Prolonging The Magic on vinyl for quite some time now. It's been available as a boxed set with all the other albums. I just wanted this one. I already bought the Fashion Nugget reissue, and I was pleased with it.Side A of Prolonging is annoyingly noisy, side B sounds better, but still not meeting my expectations. This 180-gram black vinyl reissue way better in comparison to the more expensive blue vinyl edition sold on the band's website (SOLD OUT). I got a copy of that and there was A TON of noise, crackles and scratchy tones. I got a replacement there and the second copy made me request a refund. I'll likely keep this one, it's cheaper and 180 gram, and sounds better, but it's not great. Would I buy it again? Nope. I say buy it if you really crave that Cake like I did; but you've been warned about the baby Jesus hiding inside so chew well. I still plan to see them on tour this summer!

There are those who know, and those who will learn.
They have steel guitars, country-rock and 80s new wave influences, a brilliant trumpet player doubling on keyboards, bass lines that walk like the funky chicken, smart, almost-spoken lyrics and a social conscience with a sense of humor. They are Cake, and words do not describe. This third release from the Sacramento-native band is less raw than Motorcade of Generosity and less angry than Fashion Nugget, but it stands out as the most consistently excellent album in their catalog. Those who heard only the radio hit "Never There" might be surprised to learn that while it's similar to their other earlier radio-rotated "Going the Distance," it's more of an anomaly in their overall repertoire. There's no disappointment in that, though - from the sweet, twangy, and lyrically brilliant "Mexico" to the raucous sing-along power of "Sheep Go To Heaven", Cake hops gaps between genres and never fails to deliver a better mood. If you don't like this CD, you'll find someone in your close circle of friends who will be happy to capitalize on your bad taste and take it off your hands.

Fantastic sounding Cake
The first CD I listened to by Cake was “Fashion Nugget” which I bought after hearing their superb cover of “I Will survive” in the film “A Long Way Down”. Gloria Gaynor’s original hit of “I Will Survive” is a one of the most recognisable singles from the 1970’s (memorable whether you liked the song or not) and I do like her version, but I much prefer Cakes version which I have played many, many times since getting that CD.After really enjoying every track on “Fashion Nugget” I have now bought “Prolonging the Magic”, the CD Cake released a couple of years after “Fashion Nugget”. I have listened to it just a couple of times at the time of writing this review, but already I’m hooked. Once again with their brilliant mix of instruments, there are superb songs on their CD. Favourite track so far is “Hem on Your Garment” – I love the drums and bass intro to the track, and other memorable songs are “Let Me Go” (it’s those drums again!) and the “Contry-fied” “Mexico”, but I love all thirteen tracks. It might have taken me twenty years or so to notice Cake but I am so glad that I did eventually notice them.

solid album
Not quite up to the level of Fashion Nugget and Comfort Eagle but still has standout tracks such as Never there and Sheep go to heaven

Rock Alternativo
Acquistato presso All Your Music, prezzi imbattibili e spedizione relativamente veloce (arriva da America). 5 stelle come valutazione finale.
