No metal striker included in kit. Picture showed excluded item.
Ad showed metal striker included in kit. There was no striker. I contacted Emberlit to inquire about kit contents. I paid $26+ for kit. Emberlit said there should have been a striker. Emberlit corrected omitted item.

Great kit! A must have!
Great kit! A must have! Although I was producing sparks right, it took about a half hour or so of practice to get the hang of starting a fire with this method. Once you get used to it, you're all set! The maker has YouTube videos easily showing the proper technique as well as many other tips and methods. The steel will last you a life time and if you learn how to identify the proper types of rocks you can find what you need in the field, it doesn't nessesarily have to be a flint stone. The steel is a must have but the kit is a great convenient way to get you started with everything you need. Having this in your pack could possibly save your life. Couldn't recommend this product any higher.

almost good
steel is good as are the jute and cotton cord, box is useful, flint looks more like a shattered piece of gravel, magnifying glass (foldable lense) was a bonus as I didn't catch that it came with one. so the kit is still usable as is. I suggest buying your own flints or a sparker rod and not relying on the one that comes with this kit. had it had a good piece of flint or other striking stone I would have given it full rating

Not happy
Nice little kit with tinder and a lens to start a fire from the sun. BUT, The stone that I received was not flint and it does not throw a good spark.

Great Starter Kit
I love the fact that tinder is included, but I would grind a section of the striker to have a 90º spine to double as a ferro rod striker. Also, the piece of "flint" I got doesn't throw the best sparks. I'm going to assume that's the rock's fault and not the striker's fault. Maybe a piece of quartz would perform better? Lastly, I think it would be a great idea to include one small piece of char cloth in the bottom of the tin. I'd say include a ferro rod, too, but then we're probably talking about upping the price point, too.

Did not have correct items
The kit did not come with steel, so 25 bucks for a tin case and a rock.

A great buy for bushcrafters
A great fire starter kit only trouble I have is the steel is a little small for my fat hands.
