Dorman 923-251 Center High Mount Stop Light Compatible with Select Mercedes-Benz Models

I installed this on my '05 CLK500 and it fit perfectly. I did not have any of the extra flashing that some people reported having to trim. Just make sure the existing insulation is removed from the factory light, also remove the white tape protector from the new light before inserting it. I did notice that the steel mounting assembly was slightly different, I also need to remove the two retaining nuts from my old light to install on this one. The whole process took about 10 minutes, from removing the truck panel, removing/installing the new light, and reinstalling the panel.

Dont be afraid of the excess plastic that needs to be trimmed. I had to take an exact knife around the seam where the white meets the red around the full perimeter. I had to push the seal out of the way ot see the high spots I missed- take your time and test fit as you go. Its an easy fix and for 50 bucks its worth the cleanup work. The light fits and looks good, I docked one star because for $90 you shouldn't have to carve a new part.

This part fits a my 2008 CLK 350 cabriolet . The Part # is 1 digit off from original part number but the light fits perfectly. Dealer wanted around $200 for this part alone. This is easy to replace, just remove inner truck panel held on with the push pin rivets and unplug the connector and remove the two nuts. When reinstalling the new light, plug in the connector jack together before you attach the nuts, it is much easier to connect when the part is still movable.

There's a huge fitment issue with this light. I could not get the light to seat all the way flush with the car. There's a huge gap at the top of the light even though both ends of the light was seated flush with the car. I now have to worry about water seeping through the crack and into my trunk lining where all the electrical wirings are.

Remember you need to trim the excess plastic before installing. I did not know this and cracked the red lens and had to crazy glue it to reinstall the light. It would have been nice to know this product works great with a little prep before installation!

Perfect fit on a 2005 Mercedes CLK500 cabriolet. As an earlier reviewer commented, the fit and finish requires a slight massage to fit. I had to trim off some extra (micro?) millimeters of plastic left off from the manufacturing process. Needs extra QA from the factory. Other than that, it was a perfect fit.
