Is this set made in the USA? I know some of All-Clad's products are and some aren't

All-Clad pans are made in the USA with material from the USA.  The lids are made in china.  See All-clad website frequently asked questions.  The only product made by all-clad that is a "pan" that is made outside the u.s. is the Pro-Clad Emerilware.  That's totally made in china.  It's also not made of materials from the U.S.  It's way cheaper but imho, the craftmanship is not as good.I've used regular SS and d5.  D5 is far superior.  Hope this helps.

Question 2

Can this set be use on induction cooktops?

The induction sensitivity is in the outer layer.  These items are constructed with an outer layer of stainless steel that does not have nickel alloyed into it and is therefore magnetic and can be used well with induction.  It is this outer layer that gets hot on an induction cooktop.  The inner stainless layer is a nickel blend and induction has no effect on it.  All heat conducts from the outer layer through the aluminum ones to the inner pan to cook, just like using an electric or gas burner would.  All this from the All-Clad website description of the d5 series.

I'm not a chef but a homemaker. I'm confused with some other all clad not d5 that they complain about the fish or egg sticking to the stainless steel?

I fry and scramble eggs on stainless steel pans. It's all about letting the pan heat slowly over low heat. Then, when sufficiently heated, add lots of fat to the cooking surface. If you do this every time, your egg will not stick. People get used to turning the heat on med/high, adding a tiny bit of fat and then cracking their eggs right away using non-stick. I fry and scramble eggs on stainless pans (and cast iron) every day after thoroughly heating the pans and adding plenty of fat. I just ordered this All-Clad set, and I cannot wait to try them. :)

Is the brushed stainless more difficult to clean than polished stainless and do you have to clean "with the grain" when using Bar Keeper's Friend?

It's very easy to clean! We have the brushed stainless steel & love it, even fried on eggs come off with barkeepers friend & the pans look brand new! We picked up a nylon scrubbing pad, 3/99cents at walmart & the liquid barkeepers friend. Everytime you use your pan, let it cool completely before cleaning it, put a dab of cleaner with a smidge of water & scrub away. If your having a difficult time cleaning a particularly difficult mess, put some water in the pan and put in on the stove, bring to a simmer for a few minutes & than cool & clean. These pans are a 5 star product & are easier to cook & clean with than you think! You will have no stains if you dry them right away, do not air-dry. Enjoy!
