Very firm. Great quality. Great value.
02.24.2018 Update.I've had this for two years, and it's great. I still recommend a softer roller for injured areas, but for daily, regular use, this one is awesome. It's hard to find a lower density roller. I found a pretty great medium density though and I use it daily. See product and my review here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R38XLCPNB7EF9K/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B013OZ5NOAExtra firm. If you're new to physical therapy or are injured, you might want to wait on this one til you're feeling a little better and your body is a little less tender - instead, maybe go for the half roll if you're looking for the 36-inch as a starter. (I have and use both.) Otherwise, this is a very high quality, durable roller that will last a long time. I bought the 36 inch round. I did some research and this was the best value for the price. Happy with purchase and would likely buy again but I doubt there will be that need.

I work in health care lifting patients daily. By using the foam roller, I have not had to go to chiropractor near as much. This foam roller "hurts so good" and I can tell that it aligns my back back in place and helps me feel so much better. The one thing it doesn't help me is my neck. It is great for upper and lower back but I can't position myself on the roller well enough to adjust or align my neck. I would recommend this product and say to relax and breathe deep and take it slow while rolling on it. You will really get a great therapeutic benefit.

I use this daily!
I love my foam roller so much! I bought them for my dad and husband as Christmas gifts, my dad loves his and I LOVE MY HUSBAND'S. He never even tried it, but I use this thing for about 15 minutes every night and it is incredible. I exercise about 30 minutes a day, HIIT, Toning, Weights, Aerobics, Sports.... and this roller hits every spot. I use it while watching TV in the evenings or right before bed. There are a ton of videos on YouTube for different stretches and exercises. One little thing.... you see the word foam and think it will be soft and cushy, it isn't. It actually kind of hurts for the first few seconds but once you find your pressure points and tight spots you will LOVE this!

Kind of Expensive, seems to Work, but could be more Durable
Foam rollers are somewhat expensive for what they are: a cylindrical piece of high-density foam. Nevertheless, I bought one because I run and exercise a lot, and this one seems to be the best value for a three foot one.Does it work? This is a question I would not be able to answer effectively for you because you may use it differently than the next person. When it comes to massaging and stretching equipment, the efficacy can really be questioned because we all use the equipment to varying degrees, for different purposes, and with different ideas of right and wrong. We also all know the placebo effect can be very strong. As far as my own personal usage, I use it for my upper back, hamstrings, calves, and quads. I slowly roll it over each muscle and repeat even slower in areas of tension. My goal is to decrease soreness, increase recovery, and loosen the muscles for my next workout. It...seems to work. I can't be entirely sure because I do not want to be biased with the placebo effect and make fast conclusions. There can also be thousands of variables affecting soreness and recovery such as diet, exercise, and sleep so I cannot make an absolute conclusion on whether foam rolling works. I will say though that it can't hurt to foam roll.Build QualityThis is indeed high-density foam because I can squeeze it (I have a very strong grip) and it won't give in like packing foam would. I can also put my weight on it and it won't give. I can try to break it in half, and my efforts won't succeed. All should be well then right? Well, not exactly. It seems to dent easily. I am somewhat rough with my possessions and with the thought that my efforts to break the thing don't work I can afford to be rough. I put it against some boxes of books and but other boxes against it since I was moving things round. When I went to go use it I noticed that dents were left on the foam roll where the edges of the boxes pressed against the item. Maybe I expected too much from a piece of foam because no matter how high density it is, foam will still dent.

Best Roller for your $
Superb quality. I've bought different foam rollers, this one is the best one, others don't have the quality and density that this one has, don't bother with the cheaper brands you'll just waste your money. I like the length and diameter, I have a shorter and fatter diameter roller that I bought at a local store - it doesn't compare to this one, you can feel the difference, the other one is much softer and has already given in some areas, this is the one to buy.

Highly Recommended 6 X 36 inch Round Foam Roller
I just received my High Density Foam Roller the other day. In a word - I LOVE it! This size is ideal - the material is firm but light and very easy to use (and store) - yet the price is not outlandishly inflated as it is from other sellers. The Foam makes it easy for you to position yourself - and rolling direction is intuitive and easy to accomplish. My initial use "feels good" and seems to be effective in purported myofascial release of tense muscular areas that I bought this for. Highly recommended!

All hail this roller
Ermagerd I love this thing. Durable, dense, totally worth the money. I've been using it daily for a few years now with no sign of wear. My husband saw me using it and now he uses it daily as well. I'm a CMT and I recommend this to most of my patients, it's a great (and cheap) self care tool.

Best investment in my tight runner's legs
This has been perfect for working a tight (not injured) IT band. Actually provides pretty instant relief. It was hard going the first few times I tried it - and painful though I followed all of the advice of not overdoing it. Now I just need about 15 seconds a day to keep the tightness of my IT band away.
