Drumset Plastic Brushes!
Thought these brushes would be a good alternative to traditional wire drumset brushes but I didn’t care for the inability to adjust the width of the brush spread without shortening the overall length of the brush. Also! The plastic material does not sound as fresh as a traditional drumset wire brush!

Firth is First-rate
Another good quality product from Firth. These are particularly good for a country shuffle and that "train track" beat on the snare. They also work great for quiet Trad jazz tunes on a full set.

Rakes Create Very Unique Sounds
A very different approach to nylon brushes. Not your typical nylon replica of wire brushes, these rakes are definitely in their own category, perhaps what Vic Firth was pushing for. If you're looking for a nylon equivalent of traditional wire brushes these aren't for you, but if you're looking for different tools to bring new sounds out of your Percussion instruments this is definitely a tool for your bag of tricks.

Great Brushes
Great, dark sound when compared to metal brushes. Vic Firth is always quality - handles have a nice rubber-like heavy-duty grip. Mostly use for low-volume practice or acoustic jams.

New Design Of Vic Firth Jazz Rake - Red
I'm possibly being a little harsh with my four (rather than five) star rating.I bought this pair to replace a pair of twenty-plus year old Vic Firth Jazz Rake - Red brushes. I had been completely satisfied with the weight, feel, construction, build-quality and sound produced. I hadn't expected to find that the new pair I received would be a new and lighter design. Initially, I was disappointed. However, I gave them a go and (if I hadn't experienced the heavier, soft-plastic/rubber covered metal body) previous version, would probably have rated these a five star product. The feel is lighter, which means that rim-shots are a waste of time, as the light plastic body of the handle can't produce the sound required (and I can't help worrying that the black plastic body will split, so dare not persist with trying to find a way of producing some sort of acceptable sound). That said, the red plastic strands are thick enough to produce an excellent sound on both skin and cymbal and these are a comfortable and satisfying set of brushes to use. They can (rim-shots excepted) produce plenty of volume, but are constructed to enable light and delicate playing.
