Works for me regardless of the low price
I don't know what those low reviews are about, but I just stitched together an entire convertible top cover with little to no experience. Well, my mom had a larger Singer which was all heavy metal with a box full of stitch pattern cogs and I watched her sew so many things including clothes for me. To step on the pedal was like driving for a kid. Well, now I have kids and I like to customize the fit of my clothing. I have been hand-stitching everything lately, but wanted to have a longer lasting stitch. Amazon is amazing: I had the idea on the weekend to make a custom convertible top cover, ordered on Monday and today, Wednesday night in 2 hours I was able to cut, stitch together an entire convertible top cover. Like a lot of reviews, there are plenty of fakes. But I am a reasonable person= I don't expect it to sew through more than 2 layers of cloth or a denim seam. When you get to a thick part, manually crank the wheel. If it is too hard, then skip a bit over and manually crank again. It works. The original bobbin had a knot in the middle and that snapped my top thread. Not the machines fault. All those slightly misfitting clothes are my next project. Don't forget all the kids clothes you can hem. I haven't even wound a bobbin yet! Clothing 'made in China' can now be 'customized in the USA!' Awesome, like the watch tool kit I bought here.

Broken on first use!
I bought this item as a christmas present for my 11 year old. I actually know how to sew and have a larger machine but I wanted to have something of her own. Right out of the box we threaded it and started sewing a simple straight stitch on normal thickness fabric and the thread bunched up and the presser foot snapped off the machine. I did everything I could find a replacement foot. That is not possible. The whole machine has to be replaced. I didn't even bother trying to return it or cash in on the warranty because the shipping was prohibitive. Needless to say I threw it out and bought my girl an upgraded Brother machine with replaceable presser feet.

Great for my granddaughters
Perfect for ages above 8 or 9, good instructions and works just like the larger ones without all the bells and whistles.

Serves the Purpose..............
I've purchased several of these machines the past two summers and will purchase more this summer. Granted, the machine is dinky, but it is functional. I offer 'quilt camp' to young girls, 8-10, from my neighborhood. They come to my house from 9-noon every day for one week. At the end of the week they each have a COMPLETED lap quilt. I charge them $50. With the extra $10, I build them a little tool box with scissors, thread, seam ripper and anything else I think of. They do all of the piecing and binding on these little machines. They do the quilting on my long arm. They take the machines home at the end of the week and use it for other projects. As far as I know, ALL of the machines are still operational. Would I like them to have a better machine? You bet. But, for the price of this machines, it is well worth it. So for those that are bad-mouthing this machine, spend more money and get a better one....

Love This Little Thing!
Small, Easy to use, Tough little worker! The Quickfix Mend Machine does way more than mend items; it sews though multiple layers of thick flannel, has 8 different stitches to play with, and comes with a foot petal, working light and a small storage container. I was a beginner to sewing but since I bought this machine, I've made 8 pairs of pajama bottoms and I'm starting my first quilt! I could not be happier! The manual book helps learn how to use the machine and answers every question I had. Quickfix is a great value and so affordable! You will not be disappointed.

Singer Quickfix Mend Machine
Cute little thing. Goes like gang busters...Easy to use, easy to follow instructions...However, It is supposed to come with extra bobbin, a guide, and some thread...Negative. Just one needle, one bobbin (already threaded and in place), a power cord and a foot peddle....I would have given it more stars but these items were missing.

Singer Quickfix mend machine
There was no instruction book, or the accessories that go with the machine. The machine was to be given to my 15 year old granddaughter and with out the proper bobbins for that machine, I couldn't get it to work. She needed at least the bare minimum to learn to sew. I used one of my bobbins in the machine and it ran really rough. My bobbin was a really old one though that is all I had.
