I cannot find my manual. The bulb seems to have a clear plastic wrapping on it. Am I supposed to remove it?

I believe the plastic wrapping on the bulb is to keep the bulb from shattering. In commercial kitchens it is a requirement to have shatter resistant bulbs or a plastic sleeve over the bulb to keep shards of glass from accidentally getting into food that is being prepared just in case the bulb were to crack or get damaged.

how long does the bulb last? I did read there was no replacement bulbs to purchase.

If you look at Philip's website, the bulb will last about 10,000 hours but the efficacy of the bulb to produce the needed light to attract flying insects diminishes 35% after 6000 hours. If you want it to stay working the best it can, I would say replace every year if the fixture is on 24/7 unless you use it in an area where it is only on one day a week or something special.

Does this attract ladybugs?

No Good bugs are not attracted to UV light... only the bad bugs are attracted to UV. I have had praying mantis (3) "hang-out" waiting for insects to be attracted to the area. Easy Grub
