Should you try this if you have short hair and balding ?

It may depend why you are balding--your bare scalp could be extra sensitive. I used it on my hair that was about 3/4" long, growing back after chemotherapy with no ill-effect. I often use a tablespoon of melted coconut oil in the preparation which helps condition dry hair and skin.

why is my scalp so itchy and after leaving the henna for six hours did not change my original brown and gray hair?

six hours is very long. you have to heat up your head. I use a dryer with the plastic cap. and cook for 1/2 hour then keep in for 1/2 hour and it covers my gray. I also use coffee rather then water. You have to heat it up that's a must.

Can this be used for tattoos?

Yes, but they would turn out better if you got body art quality straight henna. If you do end up getting this product use lemon juice or another acidic juice, not boiling water. Also make sure to let the henna sit 2 hours or more for the dye to release.

How long does it take the henna to release dye ?

because I use it to cover my grey hair, I use strong coffee and a spoon of apple cider. Mix it into a muddy mixture and apply. I cover with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for 45 minutes. that's it, and works great.
