but as it oxidizes it turns brown beautifully. Happened to me
Brings medium/light brown up a shade to darken. The high concentration of indigo may turn grey hair green for a few hours-days, but as it oxidizes it turns brown beautifully. Happened to me! However, if you dyed your hair with anything other than this brand of henna (i.e. any henna that has metallic in them) it will turn your hair green-blue permanently. If you want to use this product, which I highly recommened, then use a lighter shade of henna until your chemically treated hair grows out, or cut it short, or go with it and rock green hair for a while! Like I said if you only used henna to dye your hair you will be fine as long as it doesn't have metallic salts. Don't freak out if your hair turns green for a few hours. Such a beautiful shade of brown. I am a huge supporter of henna b/c not only does it make me look and feel great, more importantly to me at least it coats the hair in plant goodness and makes it shiny and manageable for months. I don't know how it does this but before I used heann, hair was frizzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyyyyy

Good Coverage in One-step Process
[I ordered Rainbow Research dark brown henna but was sent the wrong colour. I returned and ended up buying it elsewhere.] In looking for a natural, non-toxic hair dye, I came across henna. After using neutral henna (Cassia obovata) twice which conditions the hair while giving a lovely shine, I was ready to try something with a little colour. Henna (Lawsonia inermis) is a permanent dye that improves your hair. Henna binds the keratin in your hair and cannot be removed so it is a commitment. It 'only' dyes red. In order to get brown, Indigo (Ingiofereae) is used. For best results, a long, full day, two-step process is used for dark brown. You do the henna, rinse out then do indigo. The Rainbow Research henna is a one-step process with the henna and indigo powders mixed together. Mixing with boiling water causes an instant dye release so there is no long dye release period as there is when using just henna. Henna treatments are done full head until you get the desired colour then roots only if you don't want further darkening. Application 1: I mixed one jar of the Rainbow Research henna with boiling strong coffee and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to form a mud thick enough to not to drip, thin enough to spread. I applied the mud, covered with a disposable shower cap and let sit for 4 hours. I have to tell you, the coffee may have added colour but stunk! Washing out wasn't too bad except for the indigo. There were flecks of indigo everywhere and more came out the second wash. The colour was good, more of a dark yellow on my greys than red. The indigo continued to bleed, coming off on my hands until the third wash. Application 2 (10 days later): I mixed one jar of the Rainbow Research henna with boiling water and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to form the mud. I applied the mud, covered with a disposable shower cap and a self-warming cap then let sit for 5 hours. Rinsing out was smoother than the first application. The colour was deeper with lots of shine. My greys are more of a mid to deep auburn. The indigo again bled. I really like the end result of the two applications. My hair is shiny, healthy looking and feels stronger. It is a bit thicker, less frizz and my curl pattern (2b/2c) loosed. The colour is a deep brown with reddish, golden, copper highlights where the greys were. This is a nice, all natural henna blend that is easy to use in a one-step, time saving process. There is no PPD or metallic salts that can be problematic. It is sifted but little pieces of stem become apparent when washing out. The main downside is the indigo bleeding which ultimately means it isn't staying on the hair so after a couple of washes, your hair lightens a little especially the greys. I would recommend this henna blend. Be aware that henna is a natural dye, so more than one application is necessary. Henna is permanent as is indigo although indigo when in a blend doesn't stick to the greys hairs as well as it would in a two-step process. Also be aware that henna may loosen your curl pattern and each application will loosen further. I highly recommend reading up on henna on hennaforhair.com.

I tried it twice, both times, followed the directions left it over 24 hours, let the color bleed, then applied. (once mixed it with coffee and AVC, 2nd time - mixed it with AVC, black tea and coconut oil. First time, covered for 2 hours, second time covered for 4hours with intermitted blower dryer heat to it) Didn't cover my grey at all. But my hair felt soft and well conditioned. Friends have suggested i must have gotten an old batch? I have Asian black hair with 10% grey.

Great natural hair dye!
I used this on my previously dyed hair (it was red then I dyed it brown and the red was coming through again......my hair was a light reddish brown when I decided to buy this). I mixed some of the henna with very dark brewed coffee (I have a French press coffee maker which makes bruing dark coffee easy). Mixed until it was the consistency of yogurt, applied from roots to ends, put a plastic shopping bag over my hair and went to sleep. When I washed it out the next morning my hair was a lovely dark brown color!!! I am thrilled with this product and that it's a natural way to dye your hair! Worked great for me the only negative I had was the smell which lingered in my hair for about two days but other than that this product is perfect !

I mixed it with coffee, apple cider vinegar. Left it for 1 1/2 hrs. Unfortunately it didn't take care of my grey hair ;( update: I used this product two more times. Second time, I sat it for 2 1/2 hrs and still did not cover all of my grey hair. Third time, I sat it for 3 hours and it dyed most of my grey hair (i noticed 1 or 2 stubborn grey hair on top of my hair :( ). Since this product is organic, I decided to keep using this product. Although it gets messy when I use this product, I like it.

Soothing Henna Application For Deep Rich Brown Hair
This was my first trying Rainbow Research Dark Brown Henna. I mixed the henna with coffee and hot water like the directions started. I added 2 tablespoons of olive oil for extra conditioning. The application was pretty easy. The warm henna on my scalp and hair was so soothing. I covered my hair in plastic wrap for about 2 hours then rinsed it out until the water ran clear. I used conditioner to wash out the last remnants of henna. I added leave-in conditioner and proceeded styling my hair. The color results were rich and even. I donโt have a lot of grey hair, but other semi-permanent hair colors made my hair look drab. This color made my hair look and feel thicker. I washed my hair a week after the initial application and was pleased that very little color rinsed out. My hair feels even thicker. I will definitely make this a part of my color maintenance.

Love it. It's the product I've been waiting for.
I love this. I bought it with the medium brown to give me the shade I want. I used henna before but not this brand. So I'm familiar with the mess, smell and red shade that come with it. And I don't mind any. What I love about this product is that it comes in different shades. Not only the original red henna. I have a dark brown hair with lots of white that I got from stress and lots of chemical coloring. Add to that some severe hormonal changes, the past 2 years were so harsh on my hair, I hit rock bottom a couple of months ago. This is when I decided to go back to all natural with my hair color and treatment. I mixed dark and medium brown with dark coffee, a little vinegar and some yogurt. Applied it for 2 hours, washed ( start with your conditioner first for easy rinse) and followed with a coconut or olive oil treatment. Usually natural oil treatment right after deepens the color and reverses the drying effect of the henna. Note: this drying effect lasts only for a couple of washes and it disappears completely afterwards. It only happens because of the henna dust that stays on your hair after coloring. Once this dust is washed out completely you will see the real effect of henna. So the results were miraculous. My hair got back its real shine and strength immediately. The fall out stopped right away. And whites were covered completely with this brownish shade. No more dull, brittle or broken hair. The color lasts, it doesn't really fade out, it only softens some. I love this product and I will keep on using it.
