TOGAF® Version 9.1 A Pocket Guide
R**E
Great Quick Reference
NOTE: The Pictures on the Kindles HD Fire are fine. Other reported problems perhaps because they are on the earlier generation Fire device. Why get it --->I ordered this book and the study guide TOGAF Version 9 Foundation Study Guideand it was MORE then enough to get me through the TOGAF exam in less then 2 weeks - I got 90% on the exam. Everything you need to know is in these two books. So the problem of passing the foundation exam is 100% bounded by less then $100 of books - something anyone could afford so the author has leveled the economic "playing field" for everyone. The exam cost is another issue.Whats in it ---> The books are reasonably well structured in my view. What does this mean? Well, in my view the most rapid way to absorb knowledge is to view pictures/graphs/chart as the primary mechanism while being supported by textual detail. This is exactly what the author has done. The diagrams and tables are mostly lifted from the 780 page TOGAF official document (tomb) available for free at the Open Group site. Its a good reference but not necessary to torture yourself by going though it cover to cover. How I used it ---> To be fair, I set aside about 70% of my work day to get this done. I also used weekend time as well. I first read through the pocket guide to quickly gain a 40,000 foot view of TOGAF. Then I pushed through the study guide to get the detail. Not the most delightful content to read but once understood it was a relief that I got it under my belt. Sorta like the experience of getting to navy seal, not so nice going through it but once your through, its real good. I then cycled back through the pocket book and then did the sample exam included in this study guide. Got 75% and the recommendation in the book was, if you got 70% on the sample exam, then go ahead and write the real exam. I then did one more cycle through the book and pocket guide then wrote another sample exam I found for free on the internet. At this point After this, I scheduled the exam for 2 days forward. I went through the pocket book and skimmed the study guide the day before test day. On test day I skimmed through the pocket guide once more in about 90 minutes. I wrote the 1 hour exam and got 90%.Next steps, Part II exam, Certified --->Now that I have the basics I will study over the next 4-6 weeks for the Certified level using the TOGAF 9 Certified Study GuideTOGAF 9 Certified Study Guide

Good book, tiny print
This is a good book, but the print is ridiculously small. I had to read it in an area with great lighting or I was just guessing at what was on the page. Otherwise, it's a good primer for other TOGAF study materals and gives a nice overview. I found chapter 3 on TOGAF ADM Deliverables and Techniques the most interesting, it's similar to Chanpter 36 with the ADM deliverables and phases they align to. If this book is every reprinted, please consider those of us who either no longer or never had 20/20 vision.

A reference guide, not useful for studying purposes
I ordered this book to start the studying for TOGAF 9.1 certification. This pocket guide is insufficient for studying purposes. The format is too small to make notes, underline passages etc. and the content is quite condensed. There are few if any examples and study help. This book will serve me well as a reference guide once I am certified, but for now it is not useful.

Fairly Good Read - A must for the TOGAF cert.
You need to read (well parts of it) for the exam, although I wish TOGAF was not so abstract I think in further revisions I believe the Open Group will need to provide a more more concert samples.

Useful, but.......
This publication is very informative, and covers TOGAF in a easily readable format, but tables and diagrams in the publication do not display well on the Kindle without changing font settings

Small enough to take the fear factor out of TOGAF
This little book has helped me to promote TOGAF to management by showing that one doesn't need spend months studying to get an appreciation of The Open Group's Architectural Framework (and as a side this compares very favourably with the Prince 2 study manual). Of course all the necessary content is in there and every architects desk should have a copy of this book to promote awareness of TOGAF. That said the diagrams are small so perhaps print out the main ones from the web to hang on the wall, using the book as the textual reference.

Save your money and go on the course instead.
Don't bother with the manual. You need to go on the course. You cannot learn this subject by RTFM.

Very good, particularly for the Part 1 exam
I found this to be a very good companion to other material I had on TOGAF. You can read through the whole thing pretty quickly, and I reckon the information in here covered about 85-90% of the TOGAF part 1 (Foundation) exam.

Great, simple and easy to read
Great, simple and easy to read. Graphic's are not necessarily great in Kindle format (especially if you have an older version of the kindle)
