This looks exactly like the model for fitness instructors, yet all reviews look like musicians - it's model number matches as well? Fitness use?

The SM35 is not specifically designed for fitness use as it does not offer the type of sweat/water protection that the SM31FH offers. The reason musicians use the SM35 over the SM31FH is because it has a larger and much higher quality microphone capsule which offers better sound quality compared to that of the SM31FH.

If the mic is wireless and I buy a body pack transmitter, is there a base station needed? If so which one?

It depends on what type of a system you are looking for. Shure offers numerous wireless systems and the SM35 headset microphone is compatible with most.If you want to purchase the entire system with the SM35 already included, you can look at:BLX14R/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/blx-wireless-systems/blx14r-sm35GLXD14/SM35:http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/glxd-digital-wireless-systems/glxd14-sm35QLXD14/SM35: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/wireless-systems/qlxd-digital-wireless-systems/qlxd14-sm35If you already have a Shure body pack, then you will need to buy the corresponding receiver to use it with. With BLX receivers/body packs, be sure to have matching frequency bands i.e. H8, H9, H10, etc.Separate components receivers:BLX4BLX4RGLXD4QLXD4Separate component body packs:BLX1GLXD1QLXD1

Does the wired version of this mic require phantom power? if so, then what powers it when connected to usb icicle?

Yes, this does require phantom power. I almost sent it back, thinking it didn't work, then I pushed phantom power button and it came alive. The description of the Icicle says "It's even got 48V phantom power for those power-hungry condenser mics." So you should be good to go.

Is there diffetens size on this mic becouse i bought it but it looks was designed for a baby it doesnt fit my head and mic cant reach to my mouth?

You know it goes around the back of your head, right? Not over the top? I was thinking that may be the issue.

Great product

To link into a non Shure transmitter, needed to alter the wiring to make it work.

Great - but could do with it's own case to keep it safe.

Bought one of these several years ago and I have to say it works great for me as a gigging guitarist who sits on and plays a Cajon (Bass pedal) and sings so I don't need a mic stand to get in the way. It doesn't come however with a dedicated case, and although I am careful with my gear, eventually a small piece of plastic has broken off the piece that holds the mic in place. This means the mic arm swings freely and I have had to fix it with good old gaffe tape, but it's not ideal. At this price (I have the cordless set) I would expect a bit of protection in the form of a dedicated case - just saying.

Be careful

Please be aware when buying this one is that it doesn't come with the XLR adapter and its not easy to find a suitable one similar to what they would've provided if you choose the XLR version
