Wiha 72580 Torx Bits, T30, 30-Pack

I work with a bunch of chuckleheads who have been in a backwater town for so long they don't know whats available for tools or consumables anymore. They use 2 inch bits from Diablo and Norske, Dewalt or whatever they can get their hands on. They always whine about having to replace the bits weekly and paying $2-3 dollars each, but snigger whenever they see me using a bit-holder and these bits. Jokes on them. I use these in T20, T25 and T30 and I've never worn one out. I use them for a few months until I eventually lose them or they end up on my bedroom dresser and rattle around the rest before going back in my pocket. I have literally never intentionally thrown any of the torx bits away, and only strip out the #2's when doing obviously rough jobs, like attaching hardie board to heavy steel framing. The amount of money they throw away on bits is hilarious.

I cannot believe how strong these bits are. I’m never going to buy a different brand again. I am rebuilding a car engine at home and got stuck when I needed to unfasten the T30 torx bolts holding the cam shafts in place. Every brand t30 bit I used immediately snapped or shattered (dewalt, Mikita, etc). After doing some research, I found these "Wiha" brand bits. It's a German engineering company that started in 1939. Just one bit unfastened all 16 bolts no problem. I was blown away at how strong they are.

We use these every day and being able to order larger quantities of a good product saves a lot of hassle and time.

My project was to replace the wooden deck on my car hauler trailer. I had stripped out the T-30 that I had in my tool set removing less than half of the 33 screws that held the old deck to the trailer's steel frame. I ordered plenty extra thinking I would have the same issue when installing the new deck. In total I used 3 to complete the removal of the old deck and install the new. I dropped 2. If not for being clumsy I could have done the entire project with only 1. Very good product for my application.

These bits are very good, durable and cheap. They're also sized better than some torx in that they're fractionally bigger so they have a tighter fit; torx are funny in that regard as the bits slope outward to increase in size, however other torx I've used are often a little sloppy in a T-30, but then you can't fit a T-35 in the screw head. Not with these; the T-30 fits screw heads nice and snug, which tells me that the production quality on these is very good.
