Scribble Stones Art Guide: Step by Step Painting Techniques and Tricks

This book was a birthday gift for my 4yr old nephew. He liked the pictures and briefly enjoyed painting some rocks for the garden. His artistic, 6 yr old sister quickly paged through the designs and started creating painted rocks also, using a set of paint pens, also purchased here on Amazon.There are lots of fun ideas for stone painting, with great step-by-step picture instructions.I highly recommend this book!

This DIY book for kids and parents is wonderful for children from 3-14. Three-year olds will love picking through rocks outdoors and washing them. Everyone will like imagining what each rock could become. Author, Diane Albert provides comprehensive lists of simple and unusual items to use to make the images. Younger kids can get inspiration from the Scribble Stone stories written by Diane Alber. Grandparents would love rocks and small stones painted by every one in the family at holiday time or Grandparents Day.

I had never painted rocks before getting this book, but now it's a creative hobby that I love. This book has lots of cool designs and inspiration, and the instructions are simple step-by-step pictures to break down each design into something manageable for a beginner. I think this would be easy enough for kids to follow, but it's also great for adults who just want to have fun. It made me feel confident enough to tackle designs that I would have been intimidated by otherwise. I used Nawod brand acrylic paint markers for these rocks, and I didn't prime them first. I also just painted on the eyes and bee wings and didn't buy the suggested stickers. Happy painting!

UPDATE: I contacted Diane Alber, the author of SCRIBBLE STONES after I wrote this review. She had no idea the printer had put another book by another author into her book. She was gracious, and was very appreciative that someone had let her know. I was impressed by her kind response & I recommend her books to anyone. It was an error she has since corrected. —- I loved the book SCRIBBLE STONES. It was excellent. BUT IT HAD ANOTHER BOOK BY ANOTHER AUTHOR THAT WAS NOT ADVERTISED OR MENTIONED IN THE BOOK DESCRIPTION OR ON FRONT OR BACK OF THE SCRIBBLE STONES ART GUIDE. It looked as though it had been added by the publisher. If I had wanted that book, I would have ordered it separately. It had nothing to do with how to paint rocks. It was a book they asked us to review on Amazon if we liked it afterwards. I felt this was an infringement on my intelligence in ordering a book. I don’t mind reading & gaining information about the other books contents. But since this is going to be used as a guide for children to paint rocks, I felt it would be wrong of me to promote another book that had nothing to do with how to paint rocks. And since I had never heard of the book, I was disappointed that Amazon had included another book inside one they sold without checking it out first. It made me think that they are trying to influence my choice of reading material. The book should have been posted on Amazon’s site as a separate book so that people could choose for themselves if they wanted to buy it. But I also felt that the price may have included the other books publication inside this book. I won’t be ordering any more of Diane’s books because of this order. All of her books are great! They are beautiful. But if I’m going to get a book by another author that I am not aware of or choose to preview inside all of her books in the future, I’ll pass. I don’t mind previewing unpublished books at all. But not if they are included inside in addition to a book I choose to order. That’s a little intimidating to me. Diane Alber if you read these comments, did you know that in order to read your art guide that first there was another authors book before it. And that the reader had no idea of this when we ordered your wonderful book. And that it evenhad a scan code where we could scan to see more information on Amy Singh’s books. Seems to me, that’s hurting the books you offer. Thank you for reading & thinking about my comment. If we could speak to a real person at Amazon about issues like this, it would help. But the customer service isn’t asking the right questions or giving a place for typed issues. Also they were supposed to refund shipping on an order a while back but they did not. I overlooked this, but I can’t overlook this. If you had a phone, I’d politely call & explain. Thank you.

I attended a workshop on rock painting and was looking for additional ideas. This book has lots of cute illustrations with step by step instructions. The ideas are suitable for adults or children.

My grands love finding these painted stones in my neighbor l, so can’t wait to give-back and share new ones. This book will give me ideas!

This is a very basic instruction book on painting rocks written for younger children.For the price, it wasn't a value for me.

I love this idea for a book! It's great to have all these ideas laid out in one place. I deliver Mindfulness-based sessions to children and have done positivity pebbles in the past - this will be great to glance at for extra ideas. I know the children will love it!
