Incredible bass drum mount!
Instructions to mount were very good. It's quite easy to get it assembled. it took me about 20min to get it all done. They send enough elastic rubber band and hooks to make a very nice and solid mount.Mic sits in place without a problem and after few times carrying the bass drum for shows, not a sign of movement or getting loose. PERFECT!I really like that it places the mic at same spot all the time - makes sound check much easier and consistent. If you are on the road a lot with your band, get this! no more annoying mic stands in front of your bass drum! no more setup/tear down of bass drum mic. just connect the XLR cable to your snake and done!I wish I could have this for all my toms and floor toms.

Kelly Shu Kick Drum Mic Mount
Overall I think this is a Great Product . Eliminates the hassle of bringing a mic and mic stand to gigs . It does take a while to install . Down side is if you use a Beta 52 or D112 mic , the weight of the mic will make it point down and not straight at the batter head . I'm sure w/ a little tweaking on the lenght of your rubber cords that hold the shoe in place you could probably get it to stay up . I used a Audix D6 instead of the Beta 52 and had no problems . Unlike the May Mic System , you don't have to drill the Bassdrum Shell to mount the XLR cable . In case you decide to remove it , no extra holes . My front head is ported w/ a Kick Port . I had a 5' xlr cable attached to the mic and just ran the cable out of the Kick Port . I've sinced drilled a hole on the bottom on the front head and ran the xlr cable out of it . From a sound perpective its a little more boommie than having the mic at the port . I have DW 16x20 w/ DW pillow . Emad batter and Aquarian Resonator Ported Front Head w/ Kick Port . I know people who mic their kick all the time and stuff it w/ blankets , etc . If you fall into this category , you shouldn't have any trouble w/ the boommie sound. For the price , Buy It . You won't be dissapointed .

Killer concept and perfectly designed!
I grew tired of having my expensive kick drum mic on a stand outside the kick drum. It gets kicked around and liquids spilled on it. I finally decided to give the Kelly Shu a try and I am completely 100% sold on it! Installation was easy. No drilling required. I have an AKG D112 and an XLR cable always attached to it. I then coil up the cable and place it in the breather hole for transport. When at a gig I simply reach in to the breather hole and uncoil the cable, plug into the board and done. I have the cable threaded between a tension rod and the drum shell so that it's positioned in a way where it doesn't touch the resonant head at all coming through the breather hole.Played a gig this weekend and the sound man had never heard of the Kelly Shu before. He was also not a fan of the AKG D112 I was using but said he'd give it a try. After the show we were on stage breaking down and he took a closer look at the Shu. He was impressed. Very impressed. He thought the design was amazing as is the overall concept. He also said as a result of the Kelly Shu, the mic was isolated inside the kick really well and that allowed him to get what he said was one of the punchiest and deepest kick drums sounds he's ever mixed. The Kelly Shu is a winner. You as the drummer will love it. Sound engineers will love it. The fans will love it. It also eliminates one more stand from your hardware bag and no more cleaning spilled beer off your microphone.

Pretty Sweet
I like it. It’s made setting up in ears faster, as I haven’t needed to deal with the kick mic stand and the kick sound is the same every time.My only complaint is I wish I could move it further from the front head without modding the bass drum. It’s as far back as it can go without going to the screws by the reso, which are too far from the front for the sound I want.

Really Helpful for Permanent Installs Too
I'm a full-time sound guy for my church, and I bought this to use on our drums. We have our kit on a rolling riser, as we do a lot of concerts and weddings too. This mount made a lot of sense for us. First, because the kit's on a platform, space is limited. We didn't really have room to put a boom for the kick mic.; this eliminates the need for one. Secondly, the flexibility for positioning the mic is awesome. I'm using an Audix D6 up close to the beater and it sounds phenomenal. In the end, I see this taking over as a standard setup for many drummers. The time-saving factor alone is well worth it. Plus, no more guess-work to find the "sweet spot". Set and forget!

Not made for sure 52. A beta hard time installing it
The media could not be loaded. I thought this product was going to solve all my problems by adding this Kelly shoe. I would have no problems with the install. I worked on it for 2 and 1/2 hours. The hardware mounting the shoe itself was easy to mount the microphone. I had to use other means of installation. The bolt that it came with did not work properly. There is another piece that threads into the microphone and then it has a lock that's no good because the lock is a screw. Washer is too fat and I could not clip on the mic cable. Then after I tried to install the mic itself onto the shoe, it was virtually impossible. I had to use a regular bolt to make it work. I am very disappointed. After a few hours I was able to rig it so it will work. I like the concept but it does not. I repeat does not work for a beta 52 sure. I looked at the directions online and it still didn't make sense but the hardware and screws that they gave me so modify this cuz it's junk in my book and it did not take me 30 minutes.
