Can this detect palladium?

To be honest I have not tried it on palladium the only way I know how to truly tell if somethings palladium or not is to heat it up and distinguish the color of flame and also the melting temperature.

Does this tester distinguish plated gold?

I have tested 2 gold plated FAKE 14kt chains & the meter needle went to "RED" on the scale. It is just to bad for me that I bought these fakes before I bought the KEE. "OUCH"!!!!

Can it tell the difference in solid gold and plated or filled gold?

There are certain tricks of the trade you use when you come to Phil’s gold or rolled gold plated but yes it will distinguish you just have to know how to prepare the piece before testing at least that’s been my opinion and using it for at least the last 12 to 15 years

Never rely on only one test.

I almost returned this. The first piece of gold I checked said 18k. Perfect, used to calibrate. My gold coin displayed 24k then buried the gauge max Platinum. That confused me. I was going to return the meter. Then my gold bracelet tested at 18k. I thought it was 14k, now it’s making me money. Pulled out my eye loop magnifier. 14k written all over the chain. Conclusion, finding a 18k metal to use for calibration is critical. My gold coin now reads 24k. Be careful with plated gold. My $10 plated coin tested at 24k.

gold tester

I just receive the tester and it seems to work quite well. I tested it on some gold I mined and rated it about 18 kart which was accurate. I tested my wife gold and was on the money with their also. I am quite pleased with the device so far. We are planning to in vest in gold and their is a lot of counterfeit gold. Tungsten plated stuff and it hard to tell that it is plated this should help out with that. Tungsten weighs almost the same as gold. The only way to tell with out the tester would be to damage the item your wanting to purchase .

Don't buy this product

The media could not be loaded. I have bought this product three times so far. All three times, this tester does not work at all. I really don't know what to do. I am returning this product again and I am not satisfied with this product at all.

Great, but not flawless

Accurately measured known Gold Carats. Two items that were bought as 10K, were shown as 14K by the device. Which is odd.
