The Renegades Trilogy continues, in this fiercely awaited second installment after the New York Times- bestselling Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of the Lunar Chronicles. Now a New York Times Bestseller! Time is running out. Together, they can save the world. But they each other’s worst nightmare. Nova’s double life is about to get a lot more complicated: As Insomnia, she is a full-fledged member of the Renegades, a syndicate of powerful and beloved superheroes. She works with Adrian’s patrol unit to protect the weak and maintain order in Gatlon City. As Nightmare, she is an Anarchist - a group of of villains who are determined to destroy the Renegades. Nova wants vengeance against the so-called heroes who once failed her when she needed them most. But as Nova, her feelings for Adrian are deepening, despite the fact that he is the son of her sworn enemies and, unbeknownst to Nova, he has some dangerous secrets of his own. In this second installment of the Renegades trilogy, Nova, Adrian, and the rest of their crew – Ruby, Oscar, and Danna -- are faced with escalating crime in Gatlon City, while covert weapons and conflicting missions have Nova and Adrian questioning not only their beliefs about justice, but also the feelings they have for each other. The line between good and evil has been blurred, but what's clear to them both is that too much power could mean the end of their city – and the world – as they know it. Review: SO FREAKING GOOD!!! - This book was exactly what I needed! I truly did not expect myself to fall so in love with this book. When I first started it, I was a little worried that I wouldn't love it because lately I've been having a hard time keeping myself engaged with a book but from the moment I started this, it completely took over my life. It's been so long since I loved a book so much that I stayed up late to keep reading, that the first thing I did when I woke up was to reach for my book to continue reading. Honestly, for that feeling alone I want to give this book a five star. But I'm giving this a five star rating because it kept me engaged, it made me fall so deeply in love with these characters and most importantly, it gave me all the swoony romance scenes that were lacking in the first book. Also I really enjoy how this book looks at heroes and villains and shows how it's not all black and white. I love that it makes me look at things from different perspectives and to realize that when it comes down to it, there really isn't much of a difference between the villains and heroes. I will say that I find Nova's reasons for hating Renegade to be a bit childish even if I do completely understand her need to put the blame on them. But it's also plays a huge part into who she is today, and her beliefs on having powers in general. I love her perspective on things and I definitely agree to some degree on the way she thinks but I think she has some character development still to happen because she tends to only see things from her perspective. I love Adrian and I really can't think of one negative thing to say about him. I love that we really see him starting to question everything and he starts reevaluating the way he's always seen the world and starting to think that maybe there is room for improvement in the rules of the Renegades. I also absolutely love the way he adores Nova, so many times while reading this book he made me dreamy sigh and grin the cheesiest grin at the things he said or did for Nova <3 I'm so freaking happy I decided to start this book yesterday. It's honestly the best decision I've made in a long time. And now I'm going to go cry in a corner because I have to wait a whole freaking year for the conclusion :( Review: A great sequel to the Renegades book - A great book that continues the renegade series. It is very entertaining and has a great plot but I wont say much more than that as I dont want to spoil anything for you. The book its self is very high quality and has held up very well even after allowing some friends to read it. Ok enough reading my review time for you to read the book go and get it!

Action-packed adventure!
Archenemies by Marissa Meyer is the second book in the Renegades trilogy. With comic book hero vibes, it's an action-packed adventure you won't want to miss! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Archenemies! It was fast-paced, action driven, and full of exciting characters. The concept behind Renegades is so neat! I love the heroes versus villains construct, and the way the characters navigate the gray areas as they explore what's good and bad. Each character, whether villain or renegade, has a set of unique abilities. The main characters Nova and Adrian are known as Insomnia and Sketch. Insomnia can put people to sleep, and Sketch can bring just about any drawing to life. While there are a ton of cool abilities, I think Sketch's abilities are the best (and most useful!) Archenemies picks up where Renegades left off. Nova is knee-deep in renegades territory. The longer she's with them, the more the lines blur between friend and enemy. While Nova is technically a villain, she's not all bad. Just as Adrian is not the saint the renegades would paint him to be. I appreciate Nova and Adrian as morally gray characters in a world that tries to divide everything as black and white. I had no idea how Archenemies was going to end, but the ending blew me away! Just when I thought truths were going to be uncovered, the mask is put back on. The third book is going to be downright sticky. So many webs have been woven, so I can only imagine how it's all going to blow up in the end. A lot happens in Archenemies! Things explode, people get hurt, and tension mounts as the lies start to build. I'm so excited for the third and final book in this awesome trilogy! If you haven't picked up Renegades yet, I highly recommend it! Marissa Meyer did a fantastic job building a pretty incredible world.

Great Sequel
An amazing follow up to the first. Would highly recommend you read the whole series if you like both Sci-Fi & moral dilemmas.

Love this book!
This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I'm way outside of the target audience (my teen years are very much in the rear view 😉). It's solid story telling with an added element of ethical dillema that is very thought provoking. Would make a great teen book club read. Also, for those of you who care it's clean and I wouldn't be ashamed to read it in front of my Grandma!

Archenemies
I purchased this book from Amazon to read with @popthebutterfly readalong. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Archenemies by Marissa Meyer. I enjoyed the second book more than the first although I caught myself drifting about half way through it because the action began to slack, but it picks right back up and the suspense builds back up at the end. Meyer just has a way of pulling you in for that cliffhanger ending which leaves you needing to read the next one. Unfortunately we must wait until November for the final book of this series. Nova continues her battle of good vs. evil while continuing to dawn her Renegade uniform everyday and reporting for superhero duty hiding the biggest secret of her life. Adrian continues to hide his Sentinel powers from his Dad and friends and most of all Nova. Both trying to hide from one another but still drawn into romantic feelings neither can sort. Oh the world of love in superheroes and supervillians must be so complicated.

Better than Renegades!
A definite improvement over the first book! And wow....those last few chapters! They had me on the edge of my seat! I won't summarize the plot as this is a sequel and I don't want to risk spoilers but I will describe a bit of what I really enjoyed or didn't enjoy. Likes: 1. Overall, this was very fast paced! This is a chunky book, similar to Renegades, I felt the space was well utilized. Though there were certain story lines that seemed to drag, in the end, they all went to progress the plot and seemed to matter. 2. There was some great discussion about right and wrong, Good vs. Evil, etc., that was very thought provoking and had you really questioning who you should route for. This book shows you how grey each area is, and that the villains might not always be evil, and the heroes might now always be good. That heroes are flawed and that villains can be selfless. 3. On a similar note, it was hard to pick a side. Meyer does a great job of showing the issues in such a well-rounded way that it makes you understand and sympathize with both Nove and Adrian. My Issues: 1. Nova. Though I find her to be the far more interesting character in comparison to Adrian, I find her motivations misguided. Her whole hatred of the Renegades is founded upon the fact that, when she was a child, they did not protect her family from an attack by a local gang. But, unless the Renegades have some type of system or power to alert them at absolutely every single sign of danger and violence, how would they have known she was in trouble? Over time, she has come to see some of the other negative side to the Renegades, but her driving factor is that her entire family was killed because the Renegades didn't save them. I find that to be a bit unreasonable. 2. There was a plot-device used here that irked me: Deus Ex Machina. This is when a seemingly unsolvable problem is quickly resolved by an unexpected and unlikely occurrence. That happened here and it made a lot of things a bit too convenient. Without it, Meyer would not have been able to craft the story that she did.

An uncanny, jaw-dropping read!
Wow! If you want to just enjoy the heck out of a reading experience, then by all means, read these books! Both of the Renegades stories have made it to my top levels in terms of loving the super-hero genre, loving a good but not sappy YA novel and just loving more action than you can shake a Stallone chin dimple at! Fantastic, can't wait for the conclusion of the trilogy!
