The Perfect Book For Learning How To Be A Professional Magician
Magic makes for an interesting and rewarding career. It also makes for a great hobby. Do you sincerely want to learn Magic? Then this is the book for you because it is a complete course in Magic, covering all of the classic forms and effects, and is also full of sage wisdom on how to become a first-rate, professional magician. The author, Mark Wilson, began his remarkable career as a teenager and, along with his wife Nani Darnell, became one of the greatest magicians to have ever performed. Perhaps the Wilson's single greatest contribution to the art was convincing television networks (in the 1950s!) that Magic could be televised and enjoyed at home. Ever see Copperfield, Blaine, or Penn and Teller perform on television? Then be certain to thank Mark and Nani. In fact, Mark still teaches aspiring professionals, in person, at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. You couldn't ask for a better teacher. This book is well written, with easy to understand drawings and photographs. Early parts of most chapters cover easy to master or 'self-working' tricks to get you started and the latter parts of each chapter present more complex effects. There are even plans for full scale stage effects and sections related to presentation and professionalism to round out the course. Want testimonials from experts? There are literally dozens of highly respected, professional magicians who credit this book with inspiring and jump-starting their careers. Now you, too, can join them.

This is one of a handful of books that are considered "essential learning" for the beginning magician
This is one of a handful of books that are considered "essential learning" for the beginning magician who wants to go on to doing serious tricks or even making a career of magic.Even notable magicians like Lance Burton have referenced the early versions of this book as a primary guide in their education. One note .... in all honesty.... the book might be more accurately titled .. "The Complete Course in Sleight of Hand, Card, Rope, Coin and Ball Magic".The reason I say this is because some younger would-be magicians who have grown up in an era of Copperfield, Burton, Blaine and Angel are used to seeing large scale illusions ------------ this book does NOT cover that form of magic. This is the classic training book for the skills needed for all the hand manipulation, scarves, cards, coins, ropes, and related tricks.

Great book
This is the fourth time I’ve bought this book! It seems to be the one magic resource that I come back to over and over again. It gives the basic moves for a lot of tricks and then gives different tricks that use that move, which has greatly helped me with coming up with my own unique tricks! Simple to understand instructions and great illustrations mixed with amazing advice make this the first book any aspiring magician at any level should add to their collection!

Good capacity and nice size
Would give this five stars but have no idea yet how it'll perform over time.BUT, so far so good. Item arrived, nicely packaged when it should. It was charged to about 75%. I charged it fully (using a very slim laptop, so no high-powered USB charger) w/o any problems. Hence you should easily be able to charge this even with a slim USB phone charger. After fully charging, I have used the "Omaker" to charge my iPhone a number of times and still it displays "4 LEDs" as remaining capacity. You do not have to "turn on" this device. Once you plug in your USB cable and connect the device to be charged, it "just works". Blue "charge level" LEDs will remain lit while charging (a bit of a waste of energy and as they are very bright it might annoy someone, but nothing a piece of tape cannot fix). As soon as you disconnect the "charged" device, the blue LEDs turn off within a few seconds. There is also a built-in LED flashlight with both constant beam, as well as SOS signaling. Note though that the LED flashlight sits behind a dim lens so it is more for wide area illumination than any "piecing beam" into the darkness far away (I'm spoiled using a Streamlight for that) but my guess is that it'll likely run for a few days if just using this battery pack as a light source.Delivered to the door for under $20, hard to complain. If there is one complaint, one can say that the package is very slick and shiny, borderline slippery and if lugging it around, it'll likely be scratched up over time. But I knew that before buying.

It is THE best book on magic out there.
I first got the Mark Wilson Course in Magic back in the mid-70s. I had gotten some of the basic magic kits and wanted to learn more about how to do more impressive illusions (tricks.) This book is THE bible on learning about magic. There are card tricks, rope tricks, coin tricks, silk tricks, silk and coin tricks and even how to build some of your own stage illusions. It shows you not only how to do various tricks but how to handle various items and it teaches you various principles of magic. It breaks down everything into effect (what it will look like,) secret (what makes it work) and presentation (a step-by-step guide on how to do it with illustrations.) When I started performing as a kid at backyard carnivals and talent shows, most of my routine came from this book. 35 years later it still has many of my better illusions. My first book is gone ("borrowed" by someone who didn't return it) and I have bought several different copies, some given as gifts to new magic students. You want a book to learn about magic, this is the first book you will want to buy.
