HODEDAH IMPORT 3-Shelf Bookcase Cabinet, Black

When I first opened the box the cabinet came in I noticed right away that the corner of the sides was chipped and cracked while assembling it I was able to put the broken section towards the back of the cabinet so you cannot notice it unless you are trying to find it. As I continued assembling the cabinet, one of the magnet door pieces was broken completely, I was able to crazy glue it and add it to the last drawer which I won't be opening as much compared to the above doors. Once the cabinet was assembled, it came out beautiful, the instructions were very easy, all of the pieces came with a few extra, and overall I had an amazing time putting the cabinet together by myself.

Purchased for bathroom storage between toilet and counter, which in this house is a small area that was very difficult to find a unit that would fit without wasting space. Assembly was pretty easy, I managed to mess it up though (pay better attention to the raw edge that should be on the bottom of the side pieces; I got it upside down). An actual screwdriver makes it easier to assemble the doors (allows more pressure to be applied to get enough traction dig into the surface to get the screw started). My only complaint was on of the door magnets was cracked and broke while trying to wedge it into it's spot, but a little super glue fixed it.

Was pleasantly surprised that this cabinet is a sturdy quality piece of furniture given the budget friendly price point. It is easy to assemble although it does take a few minutes to decipher the instruction diagrams when starting to put it together. Am glad that I purchased two of these to help me organize storing items at home.I highly recommend buying a new one directly from Amazon as doing so gives the purchaser full support by the manufacturer. One of my two was delivered with damaged pieces (both side upright pieces were cracked in half!) and after providing the manufacturer with details of the exact cabinet I bought including Amazon order number replacement pieces were promptly shipped to me at no charge. Kudos to Hodedah for standing behind their product on this count!I will say the packaging is designed to protect the contents including carton corner and side reinforcements so this item is not "just thrown in a box". Some improvement could be made to protecting the various wood pieces as a few had minor scuffs upon unpacking both of my cabinets. Still, for the low price point quality was better than I expected.One minor note - due to the small footprint the 4 and 5 shelf version can be a bit unsteady. I expect the 3 shelf version would be more stable being shorter in height. I 'fixed' this by placing a small strip of carpet under the bottom front edge so it has a tendency to lean back slightly.Obviously I am very pleased with this item so why the 4 out of 5 star rating? The top, all shelves and bottom have exposed screw heads showing on both sides. These do NOT appear in the pictures shown on Amazon so either they are airbrushed out or the construction details have been changed without the product pictures being updated. A bit misleading here but I am okay with it given mine are used in the basement. If they were intended for use in the living room the exposed screw heads makes them look cheap and I'd be more upset that the product pictures shown on Amazon do not accurately decipt the item as delivered. I do not expect top notch furniture at this price but the product photos should at least accurately show the exact item delivered to the customer, exposed screw heads included! I have attached a photo showing the exposed screw heads on one of my cabinets in case this "feature" is a dealbreaker for other customers considering buying one of these cabinets. I will say the screw heads do look nice but still...

Fits perfectly, works perfectly, easy to build, a few chipped corners/ edges but nothing huge. Took about an hour to put together and came WITH all parts (I was worried about that after reading some previous reviews on this item) everything about this is great!

I wasn’t expecting much for the price point and this piece managed to not meet those expectations. The good; the price. It comes with an earthquake anchor. That’s all. The bad: as noted in other reviews the screws are exposed and they don’t even bother to give you stickers or those plastic screw covers. The screws don’t match the finish of the shelf. There’s really no way to level it, and it’s definifely not level. Just assume it will come with some sort of damage. I had a smashed corner and two chunks of particle board carved out of one of the side panels. There was no damage to the packaging. I bought nicer handles to put on it, but that’s really just lipstick on a pig - at the end of the day it’s still a pig. Ultimately, I think the company relies on the fact that once it is opened people won’t bother to send it back.Instructions: the instructions for putting on the hinges are not correct. 1) bend the hinges slightly so they are wide enough to handle the wood doors. 2) using one of the screws start the hinge holes on the door. 3) attach the metal plate for the magnet closure 3) put the hinges on the shelf unit. 4) slide the door panel into the hinges. Close the door slightly so you can make sure it lines up. 5) Screw in the screws. 6) push in the magnet unto the shelf unit and double check everything lined up. 7) attach the handles. 8) marvel at the wonders of your unstable and cheaply made POS shelf unit.Ultimately, for me this is just extra storage in a guest room that won’t be used much. If you’re planning on frequent use, or storage for heavy items, spend a little more money and get something better.

I put this in my kitchen for canned goods a lot of weight and not that sturdy but looks awesome in the kitchen

It came really quickly, very well packed & pristine. It went together very easily. The instructions were clear, all holes were pre-drilled in the right places, & all screws etc were present. Everything was a very tight fit so it feels solid & substantial when built (no wobbling!). The only tiny negative is that the door edges were the foil joins look a bit 'untidy'. A black marker pen will sort that. For the money this is really good, certainly the best value flat pack I've ever built (& I've built a few in 75 years)!
