The stiching is even and the edges are finished accurately. The flimsy top handle cheapens the look of the bag, but can easily be disguised by wrapping a nice silk scarf around it. I would describe the color as an 80's style magenta/purple orchid. It is a statement bag, but it doesn't look tacky.
