Excellent quality & compact size!
I have two of these. I have one at home and use it to watch birds, deer, ducks, foxes and other wildlife on my property. The second one, I use for work inspecting utility poles. It’s light enough to carry without lugging me down and slip right into and out of a pocket with ease. The 10x magnification and stability is great for reading the names and numbers on overhead tags. It’s easy to use and pretty rugged with the rubber exterior. It is difficult to fog up and the optics are crystal clear. They are pricey but if you’re looking for a quick, rugged, clear & compact optic, this one works really well!

Worth It
Used these during archery deer and rifle elk this year. The glass used in these are incredibly clear for what you pay and are durable. I used the built in utility clip to attach them to the waste band of my pack. Not being use to having them on my pack I dropped the pack onto rocks twice but they took no damage. They were great for quick glassing for game as we moved from spot to spot. Perfect size and power magnification for hunts where you want to glass an area quickly.

Seems good so far. I’ve compared 8x and 10x
I’m going to be using this on my little outdoor adventures or even watching wildlife in my backyard. The monocular seems to be generally not recommended if you read up on them online. People was say that Binos are better in just about every way. The reason I bought this is that it’s small enough to always be with you and the best optics are going to be the ones that are with you. bought both 8x and 10x solos. I like the belt clip idea. Build quality seems ok, vortex is supposed to have a good warrantee policy. The 8x was very underwhelming. Clear and extremely stead but didn’t get me as close as I wanted. I ordered the 10x and was much more satisfied. It’s ever so slightly more unstable but I can actually see what I want to see. The two pictures of the rose bush are from around 30 ft or so. There’s a very small difference. It’s not until you look at an object farther away that the 10x really starts to shine. I’d actually be interested in a 12x but it seems most major brands don’t make a 12x monocular and most people think 10x is over kill for monoculars. I’m new to this but I’d rather use my naked eye than 8x in my humble opinion. I hardly ever order things to compare and send one back but the 8x will be getting returned this time round. Note* As an added bonus you can flip it around and look into the end backward and use it as a magnifier. I can see the lines of my finger prints in detail like a microscope. Could be handy in the right circumstance!

Using this for archery
Purchased the Vortex 10x36 monocular to use for target archery. I wanted something lighter than a pair of binoculars to spot arrows with from distances ranging from 30 to 70 yards. Pros: I love the belt clip, it's almost the length of the entire monocular and it's not too stiff which makes it easy to slide onto your belt. The monocular fits nicely into my hands and the optics are adequate. It's a lot lighter than carrying the binoculars I was using before. Cons: What I don't like is the eye relief, I do wear glasses, but it could use a bit more relief. The focus ring is stiff, I basically have to use my other hand to focus with, I was really hoping to be able to view and focus all with one hand. The only saving grace is I'm usually viewing from a fixed location. My only other complaint is not the fault of this product, but it's harder to hold the monocular as steady as a pair of binoculars and that's obvious because you're only using one hand to hold the monocular up. In retrospect it may have been better to go with the 8x36 as it might have been a bit easier to hold steady.

Bright, sharp, and rugged
Good picture quality, bright and sharp. I would have liked the ability to completely remove the belt clip, but I do end up using the clip a lot so it's not so bad. Tough, already dropped it and it was totally fine, not even a mark.

great optic for a good price
I bought this for bow hunting and camping/hiking. i tried out a bunch of differrnt binos and found that what I wanted was a good quality mono. I chose this after trying out several at gmountain. it is a little bulky for a mono but still smaller and lighter than all equivalent binos. the 36 obj lens makes it excellent at dusk and the 10x is more than adequate, even for rifle hunting, to ID animals. Some have said the adjuster is to stiff but i prefer it stays where i set it. I can still adjust it with just my thumb. comes with a belt clip, which I removed since I hang it arount my neck, also making it even more comfortable to hold. I did rig it up in my bino straps instead of the supplied lanyard as the lanyard isnt comfortable longterm and lets it flop around while walking and could hang up in my ghily suit or bow string. The optics are quite clear and holding it steady is just a matter of practice. I am very happy with this even tho its made in china, they seem to have done a good job with this.

Excellent build quality and superior warranty
I recently purchased Vortex Solo 10x36. I am pleased with the functionality and build quality of the mono and would recommend it to friends. I especially appreciate the Vortex unconditional guarantee. I have a wide range of optical products including binoculars (several), monoculars, various scopes (many), and ranging devices. I have had no problems and have been quite pleased with previous Vortex products (spotting scope and high-end binoculars). I typically use my Solo out on hikes and bird watching when I don’t want to lug the much heavier binocs. The Solo is replacing an older pair of Nikon binocs (8x25) that has a hinge wearing out. The mag difference between the 8x binocs and the 10x Solo is quite noticeable. The Solo also has noticeably better brightness and image crispness than the small binocs. Of course the field of view (FOV) of the Solo is significantly smaller. Size wise the Solo is 5 in tall and 2 inches in diameter fitting nicely in a one-hand hold. The focusing ring inboard of the eyepiece is rather stiff. I typically use my off hand to focus. The lanyard loop is large and designed to be worn around the neck. A belt clip is attached. However, a screw hole for tripod mounting is lacking as are lens covers.

Affordable Quality
. Anyone familiar with optics knows there is no getting around cheap glass. Spotting scopes under $300 are pretty much useless. Astronomy scopes under $500 will bring you limited satisfaction. That being said, this little monocular is a handy piece of optics in lieu of binocs or a larger scope. It would either be something to keep in your vehicle or if outdoors, have attached to your pack for a quick look at something. I'm glad I got the x36 rather than the x25 as it gives you a lot of light, clarity, and field of view. And you just can't beat the price; it's quite remarkable1

bluffant !

A perfect balance between optical performance and size
This is a superb piece of kit. My old monocular of 30+ years, having given up the ghost, I was looking for a replacement. This Vortex 10 x 36 is, in my (experienced but not expert) opinion, about as good as it gets. I have seen no sign of chromatic abberation (fringeing) and the viewing field is sharply focused practically right across. (On cheaper models it is often only the centre of the viewing picture that stays in focus) It is not very heavy and is comparitively small, fitting snugly in the hand thanks to the rubber armour. It is actually a very solidly put together optic and although I haven't dropped it yet (!) it looks and feels like it could easily survive occasional rough handling. Unlike others here, I had no problems with the focusing ring being stiff. Perhaps that problem has been fixed? In use, the Vortex offers up a bright, clear image. 10x magnification is about all you would effectively need, since anything more powerful would be almost impossible to use because of the natural movement you encounter with one-handed operation on a narrow field of view. What's critical is the diameter of the objective lens. Most monoculars have objective lenses of around 25mm. But the bigger this number, the more light gets in and the brighter and clearer the image you will see. Of course, the bigger the lens, the bigger the device, so a balance has to be struck. And, for me, Vortex have got it bang on with a 36 mm lens in a compact, rugged and, it has to be said, quite stylish looking device with superb optical performance. If I have to be picky, it's the case it comes with. This is open at the sides which can let dirt in. Also the belt loop is fixed with a press stud. This came undone on my first outing. However a bit of swift needlework has now permanently closed the loop, so problem solved. Lens caps would also be a real advantage. But the sheer optical quality, manufacturing excellence and performance in the field, to say nothing of the lifetime guarantee, are more than enough for me to give 5 stars. If you are looking for a powerful monocular with robust performance that could easily last you a lifetime, I recommend this without hesitation.
