did not change colors

I honestly bought this more as a fun kitchen gadget than something I really needed, but it works better than I expected. I used it while boiling eggs for breakfast and the color changes were easy to follow once I watched it for a minute. My eggs came out pretty close to the softness level shown on the timer. The little chicken design is also cute and makes it easier to spot in the pot. I like that I don’t have to constantly set a phone timer anymore, especially when cooking multiple eggs. One small downside is that the markings can be a little hard to read quickly when the water is steaming a lot, so I had to lean closer a couple times. Not a huge deal though. Overall, simple but handy gadget and fun to use.

Absolutely did not work! For many years I used a similar egg timer product (from another manufacturer) with great success. That one finally wore out after MANY uses and so I ordered these as replacement - specifically ordering two in order to give one to a friend. But neither of the two, as I received from this seller, worked! The indicator color never changed!!! Even after boiling the eggs to point of excessively chalky and overcooked, the appearance (egg indicator coloring) remained exactly as it originally did. I ruined an entire carton of boiled eggs- in addition to these timers being useless. Waste of money! Was this two faulty timers or a straight up scam?!

Read the reviews first, Rick! How many times have I told myself this. Yet I persist in reading the advertising. I bought this thinking that putting eggs (with this indicator) in water I had boiled in a microwave (and I add boiling water every minute or two) would be perfect. The indicator was a bit hard to read (the yellow turns pale - so is at the soft stage yet?). In any case, I let the 'soft' area get pale yellow and decided to try one. The yolk was nearly hard. And the eggs were colder than the timer to start. OK is it better than a timer? Maybe. Maybe not. I wouldn't buy this product again, anyway.
