Sturdy, saves time and money.
Great for an average yard , home, business etc. It’s light but not flimsy. Easy to trim around. patio, landscape etc. The autofeed string works well and not wasteful. The battery provides more than enough power and time . I have 4 of the batteries and a charger. I also use them on the other Black and Decker stuff I have. Sander and reciprocating saw. No gas, no cords .Sturdy and saves time and money.

Weed eat away
This is actually a replacement purchase because I was not being careful and fell on the other one and bent the shaft to the point of destruction. Quality, price, functionality, purpose are all excellent. Loading new spools is quite simple. If there is one drawback i would have to say the orange cover for the spool can wear out rather quickly if working around a lot of concrete. Very easy to maneuver and light weight. Has plenty of power for the 2.0 amp battery. Once i have the yard trained I can weed eat the front and backyard on one charge. In fairness my yard is slightly below normal size. Very easy to assemble. I also have the mower attachment that my wife really likes.

Good for light & med duty maintenance
I’m on my 2nd one of these and it’s on the fritz now. 1st one lasted about 2 seasons. This one is about to go out after 2nd season. Why keep buying? Because I have bought 8 batteries and several spools of string spools. I have a big yard with a lot of trimming. So basically an average yard would probably get 4 - 6 yrs use. My property however is pretty big. Takes 4 - 5 hours just to trim. As long as you keep it trimmed, this thing does a good job and is light weight. If u let jt go for 2-4 weeks, may as well get the gas trimmer out. This weed trimmer is good for moderate to light duty grass. It’s not powerful enough to get anything long or thick. So you hafta stay on top of trimming. If you do that, this will be an effective alternative to a heavy gas trimmer when you have plenty of time to trim. This thing is slower than a gas unit because it’s low power. I will buy 1 more of these but as my batteries start to wear out, I’mma start tossing them and not replacing them anymore and switch to a 40v. I’m ordering another one at $76 only because I have 6 good batteries and just ordered 2 more before my trimmer started acting up again (Early stages of the motor going out). Like I said, for what I put it through, can’t really complain so I’m giving it 4 stars.

I have used other more expensive models but always came back to this model.
I have had this exact model for MANY years and yes they do not last like they did years ago but still great . My last model lasted bit over 2 years but I use it all year long as live in warm climate and have a large yard so just got exact model again. Battery life depends a lot on temp if to hot not that long but you can always charge 2 batteries , I have used other more expensive models but always came back to this model as light weight and SIMPLE .

Deceptive beast!
So, I’m female, 5’2” tall, 70 years old, and hate manual labor. I live in a spot in the country carved out of brush and very determined, successful weeds. My weeds aren’t the kind that pop up in the putting green-style suburban lawns. Mine are angry, tough, and used to doing whatever the heck they want. They are the Viking invaders of weeds. They will grab your foot while you’re looking at them and try to wrap you up and drag you into the brush. So I have no choice but to go to battle with them lest the cover, grab, and move my house into the woods. I had my doubts about this weed eater. Since it’s battery powered and lightweight, I wondered if it was a glorified toy. Rest assured it is not. It’s a deceptive beast. I’ve had my share of weed eaters in the never ending endeavor. Name brand, gas powered, weighed about like a cooler full of beer, deafening, taller than me, and inevitably surrender to the weeds. So, I did my due diligence on yet another weed eater, aka money pit, and this one seemed to be the best buzz for the buck. Boy, was I right! First, it’s lightweight! I can easily use it for an hour without breaking my back. The adjustable shaft length and handle position enabled me to fit it to my height and stubby arms. It also self-feeds the string. Excellent innovation. Not once has it clogged or tangled and I didn’t have to continually smack its head on the ground to get it to play nice. It chews through weeds like they are cotton candy. Clean cuts, really fast. Finally, the battery rocks. I’ve run it for an hour and it hasn’t quit on me yet. Recharges in about 15 minutes. And is a breeze to snap on and off. Also, it’s a Black & Decker and the battery fits my B&D leaf blower! On a side note, I have the large B&D humane critter trap and it’s the best. Doesn’t even need a battery. I am so pleased, I was looking for new weeds to buzz just to watch them die. Highly recommend!

Good and whacky
I have a camp in northern Pennsylvania and I have a hillside that’s too steep to cut with a mower. I let it grow for a while then whack it. It works great and you can get replacement batteries and spools and a few other things cheaper than from Black and Decker. I have other battery weed whackers but I also have bought one for home

Great machine awful battery
Only been using black and decker brands. They have great equipment; wish I could say the same about their batteries. Only used the machine once and did a fabulous job. As for the battery, worked for 5 minutes with a full charge. Luckily for me I have other black and decker batteries that works well. I have purchased or received 8 batteries and only 5 been great. Two batteries would only last around 5, maybe 6 minutes. One battery would not work at all, complete junk. Enjoy black and decker equipment, flip a coin on the batteries.

There's a lot to like about this little trimmer. It's relatively lightweight, easy to use, and has enough power for a cordless to make you not regret buying it. The packaging nests the charger out of sight inside what might first be mistaken as just a piece of cardboard to hold the handle secure in the to of the box. If you're not looking for it, you might toss out the battery charger with the box - so keep that in mind. The battery is supposed to take 5 hours to charge from nothing, but I think it only took about 3 hours - either way, you probably won't be using it out of the box. Assembly instructions are provided, but it was so straight forward, I didn't bother reading them, and had it pieced together inside five minutes. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver for a single screw. After I charged it up, I went out to attack the weeds that had been growing unchecked for the last month, and was pleased at the performance. It was able to chew through four foot tall thistles (with a bit of work - they *are* nasty, fibrous, sons of guns if you let 'em grow) with out much trepidation - and could eat through normal grass in a single, unyielding pass. I picked mine up for $85 in June 2018, so my review reflects that price point. Seller shipped quickly, and all arrived as it ought to have. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants to ditch the cord, or the noise (and heft) of a gas powered trimmer.

Nice and light little tool. Takes 5 hours to charge the battery and one the first charge it only lasted 20 mins. Second charge just over 30. Hoping it will increase a bit more. Buy a replacement nylon when you order as the one with the product is super short. Oh and this is imported from the US so you need a step-down converter as well. Kind of working out expensive!

Out of the box, it requires a charge so don't expect to use it immediately. That said, it charged quickly and I was able to do my entire yard with ease. It's light weight. The vibration was much less then a traditional weed eater. Not having a cord to drag around was bliss. It has an auto feeder so if the line breaks you don't have to stop and pull more out. As many of the other reviews stated the refills are pricey but there are less expensive options. This purchase was worth the money spent.

This trimmer does a great job - I've bought two of them - but be warned that the battery is good for only about 20 minutes of continuous use. We live in the country, where we have about an hour's work to do, and even with two batteries we need to recharge them before we can finish. Aside from the short battery life I really enjoy this product.

I read the reviews and decided to buy for myself, what a game changer!! This weed wacker is so light and easy to use, it's perfect for me and I use it to mow my whole backyard, about 30min and the battery does last and dies at the 30min mark from going full out. It's the BEST purchase I've made, and no more stinky gas fumes or loud mower noise that hurts the ears. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend
