INTEX Solar Pool Cover for 18ft Round Above Ground Swimming Pools

This pool cover is the best one i have had yet. It fits my pool (18ft) perfect and heats the water extremely well. I've had covers that heated my pool before but they only heated the top 6 inches or so. This cover heats the water to 90F on really hot days and it heats it all the way to the bottom! Even on a cooler day it heats the water to the point that i can finally use my pool without shivering. I went from only using my pool on the hottest of days to wanting to get into the pool all the time. My only negative is that the cover is pretty brittle and may only last a season or two. Even knowing that fact i will not hesitate to purchase again. It makes my pool usable so much more that it is worth the expense of replacing it frequently.

We bought an 18 x 52 Intex pool in 2011 and during that summer, we did not have a solar blanket. That summer was not particularly hot here in Northern California (SF Bay Area) so the pool was cold (65 degrees) many days. The kids swam but they would get out of the pool pretty quickly. This summer we decided to buy a solar blanket. Sure, its just a big piece of bubble wrap but hey, you are only paying $40 so what do you expect? The shipment arrived in about 4 days or so. Immediately we placed the blanket over our 18' pool. It basically floats around the surface. We have the metal-frame pool so this blanket does not wrap over the top - it just floats. We've had several hot days (90s) where the blanket has stayed on the pool all day and when the kids finally went into the pool at 4pm the temp was a very nice 85 degrees! They loved it and stayed swimming for a long time! Its definitely been worth every penny for this bubble wrap and its done the job for us! I can see that if you live in a colder area - for example, I think I saw a reviewer from Oregon or Washington State say they were unhappy with their purchase. Well I can certainly see how unless you have a few pretty hot days, the blanket might not do much for you. I think your satisfaction with the product has a lot to do with where you live and what kind of climate you have. Pros: - reasonably priced - if you live in warm weather, it has kept our water at 85 degrees this summer - easy to put on and off by one person Cons: - be careful where you put it, it looks rather delicate and I'm sure with any prick it might break - on the 18' pool, it floats on the top so some debris does get into your pool (solution would be for you to use this blanket + the cover that comes with the pool itself) - its kind of a pain when you remove it to find a place to put it on to let it dry out The Pros out weight the cons for us, so we are giving this 5 stars!

I actually agree with many of the positive reviews — this pool cover does work. It noticeably helped keep my pool cleaner, reduced how often I need to vacuum, and I’ve even used less chlorine shock since using it. So in terms of performance, it delivers. That said, the durability is a real problem. After a relatively short time, the material started to break down and the bubbles began peeling off — almost like fish scales coming loose. It’s frustrating because the concept is great, but the product doesn’t seem built to last. I bought mine at the beginning of the cold season, and now, 5 months later, I will have to replace it. If they improved the quality and longevity, this would easily be a 5-star product. Right now, it feels like something you’ll have to replace sooner than expected.

I purchased this solar cover for use on an Intex 15' round metal-frame pool. I had tried to cover the pool with the cover that comes with the pool. But I was unable to get it to stay on, even with two people working at it. The cover that comes with the pool is supposed to fit over the frame and it has a drawstring to hold it in place. It is very heavy and can get filled with water and sink. I was unable to get it on the pool by myself - as I would get one side in place, the opposite side would slide into the water and sink. Also, the water coming out of the filter pushed it around, making it even harder to work with. But even with the filter turned off and the help of a second person, we were unable to get the cover on. This solar cover, in comparison, is so easy to use! It is very lightweight (it's essentially a big sheet of heavy-duty bubble wrap). It floats on the water surface. I can easily put it on and take it off by myself. It is sized to fit with a little extra, so even if there are air bubbles trapped under the cover, it still covers the entire water surface. The water coming out of the filter doesn't move it at all. Any leaves or debris that fall into the pool lay on top and as I pull the cover off they come off with it (where I can remove them) and don't fall into the water. Updating my review: I have used the solar cover for one week. Prior to putting the cover on, the pool water temperature was previously around 71-72 degrees on sunny days when the air temperature ranged between highs in the upper 80s / low 90s and lows in the 70s. In the week that the cover has been on, the air temperature only reached highs around 80 and dropped into the low 60s at night yet the water temp went up to 76 degrees. That's a 4 degree gain in water temperature even though air temperatures had dropped by 10 degrees, and the water temperatures were within about 5 degrees of the high air temps. I am very pleased. 2 notes: 1. The instructions say that you need to remove it if there are going to be high winds, because it can blow off of the pool. 2. It's not a safety or tear-away cover, so it could potentially cause entrapment and drowning if anyone fell onto it. I remove the ladder and place it away from the pool when this cover is in place.

I had the same issue as others who left a review. This worked good for one year. I cleaned and stored it in a dry area over the winter. I have used it this summer and I roll the cover back to plug up the intake and outtake valves when I need to clean the filter and also when I need to put my pool cleaner in there (I started using simple scoop plus regular chlorine, so minimal chemicals). Well today I went outside to clean my pool filter like I do every week (minimally) and the cover essentially disintegrated. I had like a million little blue bubbles floating on the top of my water. My small chlorine container had “ripped through” the cover. I went to roll the cover up to take it off and it ripped into dozens of pieces. I have NEVER seen something so poorly made. The only thing I can assume is the thinness of the cover could not withstand the rays from the sun. I did notice a few months ago (beginning of summer) that there were areas that appeared to be “ripping” but I just assumed it was from my kids. But this is absolutely not from my kids. This is a product quality issue. Spend your money on a thicker solar cover because you will be purchasing another one within a year.

I agree with all the other reviews about it lasting only one summer. Here is is August and I am finding that one of blue circles throughout the pool despite taking excellent care of the cover. It definitely warms the pool. I am going to get another because I need one as I just threw this years cover to the curb. Next year I will be looking for something with heavier mil so it lasts longer.

Best purchase ever it heats the water up probably about 8 to 10 inches and then when you stir the water up, it is really good highly highly recommend

Ich habe die plane bestellt, damit sich unser pool schneller erwärmt und nicht so viel Blätter usw reinfallen. Die. Lieferung war schnell und das Paket war gut verpackt. Zuerst dachte ich die plane sei viel zu groß und wir wollten sie kleiner schneiden. Zum Glück haben wir dies nicht getan, da sie nach ein paar Wochen etwas eingegangen ist und jetzt genau in den. Pool passt. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit Dem Produkt. Der Pool wird schneller warm und so viel dreck kommt auch nicht rein.
