Finally a suitable dongle! Runs Valve Index on any refresh rate.
I've got an Asus GX502GW laptop with rtx2070 gpu and after I received the Valve Index headset I was struggling to find a correct dongle for a DP output. The main issue is that there's no thunderbolt in it whereas most of the dongles are meant to be used with a thunderbolt port and even if they claimed they supported DP Alt mode they didn't work. There's only HDMI and usb-c DP Alt mode outputs in my laptop (it seems that the usb-c port is just a virtual link port, but I'm not sure) Can confirm that this dongle runs Valve Index through DP alt mode output with no issues at all. No image artifacts, no limits. Works well on any refresh rate set (80/90/120/144hz) looks well-build and overall is a great deal for the money. It does run hot (I'd say around 110-120ยฐF) and I've been using it for only a couple of days and some people said it fails eventually but time will tell. Make sure that your usb-c output has a DP logo nearby and it is connected to the gpu if you're in the same situation. Anyways it completely worth the value. Highly recommended.

Best DisplayPort to USB C converter
It seems the best DisplayPort to USB C converter which supports DisplayPort 1.4. I've been using HDMI cable supplied with my 3440x1440 144hz monitor provided by Acer which static electricity discharge happens a lot and makes my display signal interrupt which makes monitor black outs and turns back after few seconds. It was very annoying and I used DisplayPort cable with this converter and the issue is gone. Pros: - Metal housing - Solid build quality - Runs reliable - Cheaper than other competitors Cons: - Runs hot like around 40 degrees celsius.

Unidirectional USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 Adapter
Perfect Solution. Also purchased 3' DB cable. It makes a short/neat connection to laptop and external monitor.

Good Adapter for Price - Absolutely Fantastic Customer Service
I purchased this adapter when the maker of my Thunderbolt 3 dock advised that when using two monitors on a Macbook Pro and their system, they had seen better results from an adapter than a DisplayPort to USB C cable. I have a number of Cable Matters products and have always been happy with them, and like the other products I own, this one was priced right. I purchased it in September 2022 and have been using it daily to power two BenQ 27" monitors. It's not a hard drive to load - they are not even 4k resolution - and it worked perfectly solving all random connection issues with my second monitor (it would originally turn black for a split second with random frequency on the DP-USB C cable). Fast forward to March 2022, my second monitor started having trouble getting a signal when I either rebooted my MBP or woke it from sleep. I would have to unplug the adapter from my dock and plug it back in to get a signal to the monitor. I figured I would have to buy another adapter, so I procrastinated for another month just dealing with this quirkiness before coming to Amazon to reach out to the manufacturer. I honestly didn't even expect a response. I received a reply in less than 24 hours! The CSR and I quickly went through troubleshooting via email and I let him know the alternate things I had tried, and within two emails they let me know they would send me a replacement under warranty. They're located in Massachusetts, much to my surprise, so you're not dealing with a seller in China in a drastically different time/date zone. The replacement works beautifully, and I hope the lack of longevity on the first one was just a fluke. Both of my DisplayPort monitor cables are from this company, as well as a longer Thunderbolt 4 cable because the tiny one provided by the dock manufacturer is far too short (and Cable Matters again was the only one priced reasonably) as well as a number of cables I use for my camera and audio equipment as a videographer. (Their XLR cables have been quite surprisingly good!)

Apple Cinema HD 30 is finally working with my Macbook Pro M3!
The Apple Cinema HD 30 is finally working with my Macbook Pro M3! I thought it would be impossible after trying so many different adapters with no success. I could not get HDMI to work with this monitor, so I gave up on that. If you have an old Cinema HD 30 (CCFL), it should work with these exact parts: -Apple Dual-Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter (requires USB A connection) -CableMatters Mini DisplayPort (female) to DisplayPort (male) short cable -CableMatters DisplayPort (female) to USB C This USB C adapter is plug and play, no need for drivers on MacOS. Video signal looks great at max resolution: 2560 x 1600, 60hz. Tested with 4k videos. I could not get it to work with my Android phone.

Good for direct GPU USB-C
High quality and works well, used it for my valve index on my laptop that has a USB-C that was direct into my GPU and let me use my VR headset on it. (asus rog strix scar)

Does Not Work With Oculus Rift S
Upon receiving this, I had hope Iโd be able to use this product with my Oculus Rift S on my laptop, which does not have any DisplayPort plug ins. I had one USB C port available on my laptop so I thought, while reading the description on the product, that it would work. Knowing itโd be compatible with my devices, I thought itโd be no problem, unfortunately, I was mistaken. When plugging in, I immediately found out it was incompatible and kept getting errors stating โUnknown USB Deviceโ, โPort Reset Failed.โ I didnโt understand why so I followed hundreds of steps online and figured maybe it was my drivers, even downloaded a driver booster, and had no luck. Iโm certain my graphics drivers are updated I had even looked online for that too, yet nothing seemed to pop up and I was still stuck trying technique after technique to try to get this to work. Spending hours on hours of my time doing this, it turned out terrible, and I feel ultimately defeated. I had no clue how to get this to work with my VR. All in all, not such a great experience, I regret this.

69/69 would buy again
I bought another adapter that didn't work for my Rift s / Scar 3. Returned it and got this and it works flawlessly! Feels very solid and I'm not worried about it breaking any time soon. It also works for the usb c port on my rtx 2080, so if you're looking at this for VR it's a safe bet. Just make sure your USB C port is: A) a DP out or thunderbolt B) connected to your gpu, not your cpu's graphics. Some laptops do this. I also noticed that it gets pretty warm when in use, but not warm enough to make me concerned about its lifespan.

Works great
Worked with an AMD motherboard and Cruxtec Optical cable where an Amazon Basics adaptor outright failed to work at all.

Finally! Something that works!
I have been trying to find a way to use the Oculus Rift S on my Gaming Laptop that only has HDMI, the Rift has Display Port. But what an ordeal.... I bought two different brand HDMI to Display Port adapters, one was $68 and the other $89 and neither worked.... Then someone suggested this, since my Laptop has Thunderbolt USB C This should work, and it does! Even better than my desktop PC, Elite Dangerous boots up in less than 1/2 the time and the graphics are amazing! Now I can take my Rift to a friends house and use it with the laptop! When the Covid-19 lock-down is over that is...

Works great with Oculus Rift S on gaming laptop.
I purchased this product to use with my Oculus Rift S on my new gaming laptop (ASUS FX506IU) which has a USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 capabilities and it works great! The headset comes up as "Connected" much faster than it does on my PC and during gameplay I notice no difference whatsoever between my laptop and PC. From what I've seen this is one of the only adapters that seems to work for this headset, and for the price it seems like a pretty good deal! Highly reccomend for anyone in the same situation as me.
