Honeywell Glen Alden 52 Inch Indoor Low Profile Ceiling Fan with Pull Chain Control, Quiet Motor, and 5 Reversible Blades, Oil Rubbed Bronze

We have low ceilings in our home and needed a flush mount with no light. After looking for a while I came upon this fan and decided to give it a try. My son the handyman installed it with no problems and it looks great. We are very satisfied with the ease of use of the three speed pull chain that gets the air moving and makes a big difference with little to no noise. We are so pleased with the results and the quality for the price.

We love these fans for our bedrooms so much that we have 4! The fan definitely generates a good airflow. We were able to use just the fans for a long time before needing to turn on our air in the very hot months. The fake wood grain look looks genuine. The mount is flush with the ceiling flawlessly. It looks so nice in the room.

The fan works and looks great, but installation was a little tricky. The screws of the blades were already installed on the fan and needed to removed so you could attached the blades. Once the blades were assembled, you had to line each blade up to a small cut out in the housing to screw them in. Do to the size of the cut out, you were screwing in the blades blind. A magnetic screwdriver is highly recommended.

I have to admit, Amazon is not generally where I first think of looking for a ceiling fan, with so many box stores around. But none of said box stores seem to have a fan that mounts like this one does, pretty much as close as possible to the ceiling. Installation was very easy, following the instructions. The only place the design was somewhat lacking is in how the blades are mounted to the blade holders. The instructions say to force the blades down over three wing nuts that are already pre-installed on the blade holders, then rotate the wing nuts 90 degrees to lock the blades to the holders. The problem with this approach is the cutouts in the blades are not quite large enough to go over the wing nuts (at least not without a lot of unintended "material removal"). I think a much better approach is to just remove the screws holding the wing nuts completely, put the blades over the plastic inserts, then re-install the screws and wing nuts (with the wing nuts rotated to keep the blades on). Once installed, the fan itself is very quiet, well-balanced, and looks good.

Fans worked like they were supposed to and looked great

This fan has serious wiring problems. I connected the black fan wire to the black hot wire from my switch side. Somehow the fan wiring now made the white wire on the fan side HOT. The white wire from the fan is supposed to be a common (NEUTRAL) wire and should not have any current running through it.Honeywell outsources their tech support. Spoke with Ester, a rude and totally incompetent representative. She said the fan was "supposed to do that" (make the white wire hot). I asked to speak to another rep. I spoke with Jennifer. Jennifer told me when there's an "input" of electricity from the black wire (her words), the fan needs an way for the current to escape (her words again) which is done through by outputting this electricity via the white wire. Her choice of words was clear evidence she had no clue what she was talking about. I asked her what her electrical credentials were. She stammered around and told me she was "trained" about how the fans work. I told her the advice she was giving could possibly lead to a short circuit behind a wall that could burn down a house and everything living in it. She ignored my statement and told me if I didn't want the fan to return it. That was the best advice she gave all day.Wasted over 3 hours of time asking electricians, Honeywell's incompetent bozo reps and contractor friends of mine if this was normal. All (with the exception of Honeywell's "Faux Tech Support") said absolutely NOT. I ended up buying another brand of ceiling fan from my local home improvement store. Had it installed and running in 30 minutes.Scary to think Honeywell makes hardware and software for our military yet they can't explain why their ceiling fan and tech support is such a disaster. This fan is a danger to your home and your family.

I've installed ceiling fans before and this one was by far the easiest to install. Took just under 2 hours from start to finish and I did this on my own with no help. Final result...looks great and works well. I can easily recommend this product!
