Blackhawk ZT-1193 Telescoping Magnet Tool

I have used these for years and are almost invaluable when working on automobiles dropping items down in the engine compartment so I put one in the house and took one to work great.

Not quite the same. I've had one that looks just like this for decades but it finally broke. The new one appears the same but the magnet in nowhere near as strong as the old one. I could stick the old one to the side of the freezer and it would stay there until I needed it. This one won't even hold itself up. It will pick up dropped nails or paperclips so it got 3 stars. It looks like the entire red piece at the top is magnet but it is not even close. The end quarter inch is magnet and the rest is show.

Judging from the other reviews maybe I got a bad one. But the magnet strength was a huge disappointment. I tried to pick up nail clipper with it, and it barely held on. Same thing with a little boning knife, picked it up but dropped off easily. So I tried it on some tools, a medium sized pair of channel locks was a no go picked up slightly and dropped off, same thiing with a combination wrench. If you're in a situation where you have to pick something up out of an engine bay..if it does manage to pick up your tool if it bumps against something like a hose or anything it's going to drop off. It may be decent at picking tools like allen wrenches ( Maybe!). Returning this and I would not reccomend

Great magnet tool and made in the US! Perfect size, well made. I had been needing one for years and have used it many times already. Fits well in tool box.

Great magnet to throw in the toolbox. Fairly strong for what it is. Gets the job done.
