9ft Pink Neon Glowing Electroluminescent Wire (El Wire)

I got this for my sons party and we really liked the three settings and everyone loved the flashing light (setting 3).We wrapped it around the patio umbrella and it was easy to bend great around the umbrella post.I noticed from a couple of reviews the lights do make a high pitched whistling sound barely noticeable if you are playing music outside or if there are activities going on. If you have sensitive hearing you might not like it - for us it didn't bother us one bit!The items came very quickly and packaged nicely.As for durability, I can't comment on that yet, however I did bring in the two sets I purchased inside when it rained the next day. I didn't want moisture to get into the battery casing and ruin my lights! I will update later if possible.

My friends had these same lights in their dorm room and I liked them a lot so I decided to order my own. When they came I turned them on and they began making a disgustingly annoying high pitched buzzing sound. I told my friends about this and they said theirs did the exact same thing. I never noticed because they usually play loud music in their room.Because of the noise alone I returned the lights. They were really cool and all but I don't want to listen to that annoying sound anytime I want my room to have a nice Pink tint. So I guess it is up to you. If you play loud music all the time it would be a big deal and you should just get them, other wise I would advise you not to.Also, my friends had the blue and red ones. So this means all the colors make noises not just pink.

I bought this EL wire for Burning Man. It's exactly as described and has a wonderful, bright glow. It will be easy to add to my Burning Man costumes.Yes, the power inverter has a high-pitched squeal when it's turned on. That's true for all EL wire power inverters, so don't be surprised if you buy this and hear it squealing. Just part of using EL wire.UPDATE:It was about the 3rd hour into using this EL wire at Burning Man and it started working only intermittently or not at all. I had to mess with the solder spots and wire and then it would work again but then I would notice it had stopped. I stripped it off my costume and I put the wire away for six months and then took it out again to use in a Christmas light parade. Same issue, not working as if there is a short. I need to open it up and see if I can correct the solder joint.In contrast to several other EL wire assemblies I've purchased for more money from other dealers, this one is absolutely of lesser quality. The wire has a hard plastic feel rather than the nice, pliable rubbery feel it should have and I'm unhappy with the the unreliable performance.On the upside, when it does work, it is bright and quite lovely.

Great product for under $6. Just like any other el wire, nice bright glow and the battery lasts a long time. Overtime the brightness starts to dim, but with newer batteries it'd go back to it's brightest. The control/button feels flimsy. It has two modes, on(constant glow) and fast strobe(blink's nonstop) as well as off.

Got a couple of these for Burning Man. Used on my bike and help up well without any problems (if any of you may know, the playa is pretty bumpy!). It's not a very bright pink as shown, more of a dull pinkish white. There's a hum too, but didn't bother me in the application i used it for. Worth it though if you want to be lite up!

I bought this to wrap around my bike as part of my comprehensive "Don't Get Hit by a Car" initiative. The light is bright enough for my purpose. It does give off a high hum when it is on, but I don't notice it when biking. My major problem is that it keeps turning itself off when it hits anything but smooth streets. A crack in the road? Off. Going off of a curb that is 2 inches high? Off. Every time I look down, the thing has turned itself off. I'm lucky if I get three minutes out of it at a time. I'll have to try repositioning it somehow, but for now, it is too unreliable for bike safety.

Not sure why people aren't rating these higher. I took a chance, for my sister's b-day, and got her two. They're fantastic. No humming, as others have mentioned. Thin neon strips maybe 4 ft. long with a small battery pack at the end that has a belt clip. Really easy to clip on her and wrap around her body. She loved it! They also have 3 settings, steady neon glow, slow blink, and fast blink. Really fun and a great deal for the $ I think...

My plan for this wire was to wrap it around my kids stroller so it would be easy to find at night in Disneyland, plus the kids will love it. So I read many of the reviews and I was very worried about the buzzing noise everyone it talking about. Ever stood under a high voltage electrical transmission line? I imagined pushing around this stroller with that type of noise. I was very pleased when I turned it on and there was no noise. I put the battery box up to my ear and yes there is a buzzing noise but nothing like some of the reviewers have posted. I let my 3-4 year old play with it for about 15 minutes and it still working. I will post an update if my thoughts of this item change.
