AMS5308 MS5308 Portable Handheld AutoRange LCR Meter

a year ago, I bought one of these from the bay (similar price and same seller). it had it stored away for almost a year, unused (after a house move). after unpacking, I tried it out and it failed on me; the system would not turn on. there were issues in the earlier models where voltage regulators (maybe other things, too) would blow due to a border-line design. the early ac adapters were thought to be the problem and they were removed from the boxes and users were told not to use them (in fact, I cut my cord so I could not use the ac adapter by mistake). I used only batteries. but still, it would not respond to power on and I was left with a dead meter from china ;(I contacted the seller, told him I bought this just a bit over a year ago and since the company didn't design it properly on the first go, this repair should be covered by the manufacturer. the failure of the unit was, in no way, related to use, as I never got to actually USE it; it failed simply on power-on. after a few emails, the seller gave me a US address (san jose) where I could send the unit for repair. I did that and less than a week later, I got a replacement unit back in the mail, working again. I sent the unit to san jose for repair but the replacement came from somewhere in NJ, so what I got back was not my repaired unit but a different one. it looked 100% brand new so they probably just swapped me with another unit, saving a lot of repair time.there was no cost to me other than shipping and I'm so happy that I did not have to return it to china! that would have really costed too much and taken too much time.I have to say that this helped restore a lot of faith in chinese gear and the seller, aidetek, really stepped up to the plate and Did The Right Thing(tm) here.the unit may still have some design bugs; but it was refreshing to see some service that we have come to expect from US companies, but this time from a china seller and company. this was exceptional and not typical for chinese goods and sellers and both mastech and aidetek deserve some thanks for going beyond the usual 'china standard' of service.

I am disappointed,I purchased this expecting the ac power adapter to be included.It was not supplied, why ???I had read a review saying there were issues with the adapter but if that was the case then why advertise the adapter with the product as an included assessory. The meter seems to work fine so far although the owners manual is a waste of time. The meter did come with a set of batteries. Supplied were the two sets of test probes tweezer and clips also the optical serial cable and case for all. I would have rated this a 4 or even 5 if the ac adapter was included or even a wire cable for an external supply that I could provide.2016 and the power adapter is still said to be included, IT'S NOT, this should be re-listed WITHOUT the adapter !This is false advertising !
